Atlantis via Comfort Suites Contradiction

I called the Comfort Suites office stateside and asked about being able to check-in early on the day of arrival in Nassau. Their check-in time is 3pm and we'll of course disembark the ship that morning. She said that there should be no problem with checking in or room availability at that time. So, I booked my room for a family of 4. She confirmed that we'd have full use of the Atlantis facilities for the most part.

Well, another family in our travel party calls the same office today to book their room and the reservationist tells her that it is highly unlikely that she'll have access to a room that early in the day. My friend doesn't want to book a room now and even has me worried about my own reservation.

We're doing the Labor Day Double Dip and as of a few days ago, the hotel only had a few rooms booked. Now, I'm wondering if I should cancel my reservation and do Atlantis another time. No way can I swing $620 for the Disney Aquaventure excursion! However, if I do cancel, my kids will be so disappointed. My daughter is so looking forward to visiting the place where her favorite Mary Kate and Ashley movie was filmed. Plus, I was looking forward to doing something fun to add that special touch to our trip.

We've decided that this will be our last Disney cruise until probably grandkids and that we're going to give RCCL a whirl due to the ages of our kids. I really want this trip to be a memory to last a lifetime and have that special something that makes it different from all the others we've done.

For those of you that have done Atlantis this way, please enlighten me as to your experience.

First of all, we are cruisemates!! We were on the Wonder 4-nite last Labor Day and booked a room at Comfort Suites (for 4). I don't remember the exact time we were there, but was definitely in the morning, by 10 at least. We took a cab to Comfort Suites, checked in and went on to Atlantis to get our armbands. We never saw our Comfort Suites room, but we were definitely there waaaay before official checkin. Do it!! It was a great day!

See you in September!

Have you guys stopped by our cruise thread for our Double Dip?

We have been discussing a lot about Atlantis. Sorry I can't help you since this will be my first cruise!

Ahhhhhh, your response makes me feel so much better! Did you find Atlantis overwhelming? I've only walked through the lobby and the casino. I have no idea what to expect as far as the water park. What do I need to make certain to bring to make the day go smoothly?

How awesome to hear we're on the same boat! What ages are your boys? I have a 10 yo DS. There is also a 9 yo boy in our travel party, as well. We're in #6556.

I did, indeed, stop by the cruise meet thread for this trip. But to be honest with you, that thing has gotten so long, I get lost in all the conversations and then forget exactly what I was looking for.

You'll be able to use the facilities at Atlantis whether your room is ready or not. We don't ever even see our room. We check in and check out at the same time so we don't have to bother with going back to Comfort Suites when we're done at Atlantis. Some DISers do like to use the room for showering and stuff though. You'll love Atlantis!:lovestruc

As the PP said, you're room may not be ready but regardless they'll give you the pass you need to get your wristbands at Atlantis.

Yes, Atlantis was overwhelming just because it is so huge! We walked around a bit before we found the stand to get the armbands. FYI, it's pretty much at the base of the Leap of Faith (pyramid). Then, right when we found it, the bottom fell out and we got very wet without sliding anything!:confused3 Sooo, we went back in and toured the Dig which was very cool, and, because it was STILL raining, shared 2 sandwiches among the 4 of us. Finally, it stopped raining, the sun came out and we had a wonderful time.:yay:

I would bring goggles for some of the slides as water can really fly into your face on some of them. Also, food is very expensive there. There was a family burger deal by one of the pools (included burgers, fries and drinks for 4) but we didn't find it until we had already spent about $30 for the above mentioned sandwiches. My kids don't like burgers anyway.

My boys will be 3, 4 (almost 5) and 8 1/2 on this cruise. They are counting the days!!

Hello,

Do you know if you get to use Aquaventure gratis when staying at the Comfort Suites, or is it just access to Atlantis?

Thanks!!

We also rented a room at Comfort Suites in April. We also checked in and out at check-in so we wouldn't have to walk back to the Comfort Suites.

You can use all the facilities at the Atlantis...DD had a ball on the leap of faith, I can't believe she did it. By the way, there is a surcharge for kids 16 and older. I forgot how much it was but there was one.

Enjoy the day there, it is awesome.
