Atlantis - Comfort Suites

So I have been reading alot on here about how it might be cheaper to book a room at Ccomfort suites rather than book a day trip to Atlantis. I am also reading out the Atlantis might sell out of day passes. If I book through comfort suites, is it a sure thing that I get admission to Atlantis?

Thanks!

You will definitely get admission to the Atlantis waterparks but If the ship can't get into Nassau, you may be out some money if it's non-refundable. Check the cancellation policy. This rarely happens but did happen to a friend of mine.

I"m debating whether we should keep our comfort suites ressie for our April trip. We got a good rate but I'm also worried about bad weather, etc and being stuck with this room reservation. Plus on a 4 night cruise I feel like leaving for an entire day at Atlantis won't give us much time on the ship.

It's definitely a tough call. We loved the waterpark at the Atlantis. In fact, we're going again on our 3 night Disney Dream coming up in a week or so. I like the ships but I enjoy getting off and doing other things also. I'm not sure if you had trip insurance if it would cover for the ship not getting in and you not being able to go. You may want to call the insurer and ask.

Our kids are too short to go on the sldes so it would be really just the pools, the dig and the atmosphere.....

They do have a kid area with kid slides, called Ripples Kids' Pool
Do a search and you can easily find pictures of it.

I've seen the kiddie pool areas and they look like a lot of fun. We just booked a Med cruise for this summer and the ports will be $$$ there so that's why I"m now reconsidering.

I am thinking about getting a room at Comfort Suites, to allow access to the Atlantis Water Park, and other areas.

Has anyone found a good resource on planning a non ship excurrison to Atlantis.

I could use a comprehensive tutorial on where to get a cab, to go from the ship to to Comfort Suites (and from Atlantis back to the ship), how much the taxi will cost. How long it will take. When to leave Atlantis, so I am not standing on the dock, watching the Disney ship cruise away. Where to get lunch and how much to expect to pay. How far of a walk is it from CS to the Altantis Water Park. And any other information, which will save me time or money.

Thanks to all the cruisers in the know.

More comfort suite questions:

curious about this thread too. I read through the previous Comfort Suite threads, and booked a room for our Nassau stop for the August 21, 2011 Disney Dream cruise.
some more questions for those with experience:

1) Comfort Suites check in time says 3pm. Will they still give us room keys so we can get access to the Atlantis attractions if we come earlier (as of course we plan to arrive that morning).

2) How close is Comfort Suites to the Royal Towers (for the Dig) and Aquaventure? What Atlantis "tower" is Comfort Suites closest too?

3) Are there lockers at Aquaventure to use? (i want to keep my DCL key to the world card safe!) or should we leave it in the Comfort Suites room? ... or better yet, can someone recommend a good waterproof carrier?

4) Do we have to go back to Comfort Suites to check out?

5) Are taxis to Comfort Suites safe? how much is the cost?

thanks a million!!! :cool1:

yes

2) How close is Comfort Suites to the Royal Towers (for the Dig) and Aquaventure? a bit of a walk but not too far

walk across the street and up the hill to the Coral Towers then through the casino for directions to get you wristbands.

3) Are there lockers at Aquaventure to use? (i want to keep my DCL key to the world card safe!) yes. day lockers for rent at the hospitality center.
or should we leave it in the Comfort Suites room? you won't really get a room (if you want one) until standard check in time.

... or better yet, can someone recommend a good waterproof carrier?
posters on here have been happy with the ones they sell on the ship I recall.

4) Do we have to go back to Comfort Suites to check out?
no. I just do a check in / check out at the same time.

5) Are taxis to Comfort Suites safe? how much is the cost?
yes and $4 per person each way.

thanks a million!!! :cool1:
have fun!

Thanks Ededmd!!! :)

Can't wait! I'm having trouble finding comfort suites on that great map that you linked, but based on your description it's probably near the marina and coral towers.

where do we get the wristbands? would it be indoors in the royal towers near the Dig? or is it outdoors in Aquaventure? (hehe already trying to plan what to do first!)

Thanks! :)

Just look at my trip report in my signature for how I handled it.

No room keys until later if you want to use them. They just gave us a receipt to use to get the wrist bands at the towel hut.

2) How close is Comfort Suites to the Royal Towers (for the Dig) and Aquaventure? What Atlantis "tower" is Comfort Suites closest too?

It was only a 3-4 minute walk, but that place is huge.

3) Are there lockers at Aquaventure to use? (i want to keep my DCL key to the world card safe!) or should we leave it in the Comfort Suites room? ... or better yet, can someone recommend a good waterproof carrier?

The KTTW card from DCL is fine if it gets wet. I took my KTTW card, a credit card and about $80 in cash (for the cab) and just kept that in my swimsuit pocket. We also took a beach bag with towels, food, sunscreen, and other stuff and just left it on a chair. No one bothered it the entire time.

4) Do we have to go back to Comfort Suites to check out?

Not if you check in and out at the same time.

5) Are taxis to Comfort Suites safe? how much is the cost?

thanks a million!!! :cool1:

Yes, but they will wait until they have a full cab (about 12 people) before they leave. If you show up with 12 ( get with people on your meet thread and meet before you get off the ship).

-There will be plenty of cabs the moment you walk out the door of the port building
-Cab is $4 per person, they will wait till they have a full cab, figure 7 or 8 people
-Cab ride will be about 10 minutes
-I always leave Atlantis 1 hour before the scheduled time to return. Traffic in the afternoon/evening is MUCH worse in Nassau and that 10 min morning ride can at times become a 30 minute ride back
-There are plenty of places for lunch all over the Atlantis grounds. They have started offering "meal deals" so the prices are a bit better than they use to be but not by much. Expect to pay between $8 and $10 per person. A note here, the restaurants around Atlantis DO NOT accept cash, you MUST pay with a credit card or room key if you set that up. If you forget this part of it, then you can go to johnny rockets by the marina, they accept cash.
-CS is only about 100 yards from the Coral tower lobby, so it is a quick walk. Keep in mind however that the Atlantis grounds are HUGE, walking from the beach to the leap of faith slide could take you 10 minutes, then add another 5 mins from there to the tube slides and not so lazy river

Any other questions?

thanks for your replies!!

another question I just thought of ... do we need to bring a booster seat or car seat for our 5 year old? (yes I know it's safer, just want to know if the taxis will allow our 5 year old to ride without one).

thanks!

honestly, the taxi drivers would probably let your son ride on the roof if he wanted to:lmao:. Highway safety standards in bahamas are a bit different than they are here. but there is not much need for a booster seat. The trip is short and low speed. There are no highways in Nassau :)
