Burger King chief to be new Euro Disney head-paper

PARIS, March 27 (Reuters) - Andre LaCroix, head of the International arm of Burger King Corporation, is poised to take over as chairman of French theme park operator Euro Disney <EDLP.PA>, a French newspaper's Web site said on Thursday.

La Tribune.fr said that according to its information, LaCroix was due to replace Jay Rasulo, who is moving to another post within the Disney group (nyse: DIS - news - people).

Euro Disney said last week it was postponing its annual general meeting in order to present the new incumbent to shareholders.

If the appointment is confirmed LaCroix will be taking the reins at a sensitive time for Euro Disney which, though operationally profitable, plunged to a 33.1 million euro net loss last year under the weight of the costs involved in opening a second park adjacent to the original Magic Kingdom east of Paris.

LaCroix would be coming to the job from the largest hamburger competitor of U.S. fast food chain McDonalds (nyse: MCD - news - people).

Rasulo, who oversaw the construction and opening of Euro Disney's second park, the Walt Disney Studios, is taking up a position as chief of parks and resorts for parent company The Walt Disney Co.

Who even knew BK had an international arm??? It's all about spreadsheets and powerpoint presentations any more. He's probably qualified in these areas. Any way, with this war going on and the French's attitude toward it, I suspect EuroDisney is probably in for a rougher ride than the stateside parks...

Maybe now they can bring back the actual "Burger King" character and tack on another half hour to "One Saturday Morning". "What did we learn today kids? That's right, we learned the proper technique of cleaning the model 8204-MR deep fryer."

Before you are so quick to judge, stop and remember Disneyland. When walt decided to build Disneyland he used a bunch of animators to build his park. People then were saying what you are saying now. "What do they know about building an amusement park?" They predicted Disneyland would be a flop. We all know how that turned out. So don't be so quick to put this guy down. Give him a chance to show us what he's got.
