Looking for advice on what kinds of fun things and surprises I can add to the reception...

Disney has a wide variety of entertainment options for the reception. Everything from caricature artists and magicians to the Dapper Dans or a set of "party crashers." If there's an act you like from one of the parks, they can find out whether it's available for your reception. And of course there's Mickey, Minnie, et al. They can also create a custom (face) character for you, like an overzealous tour guide or a band of pirates.
