April 19, 2008 - Western - VERY Early Roll Call - Anyone??!!

Joan: Is Rebecca going to do club or lab? I didn't know if she would go to the club because Tyler was there and it was easier having them in the same place. Emily is still a club candidate. Actually the club activities are more her interest still, I believe.

Michelle

Yes, Rebecca is doing the club. She's real excited about that! Tyler is too, I'm just sorry they won't be together. I'm sure he'll meet some BOY friends of his own!

-Joan

I believe it was Michelle that mentioned she was doing jellybeans (if hubby doesn't eat them all first). Here's what I'm doing (and I just realized I should have cleaned the back yard of my camping equipment first). Be that as it may, how are you counting down the days to the cruise (79 by the way!!!!)?

Hypermommy,
they will definately let the boys know! I guess the kids sometimes are alot more computer saavy than the adults! Its nice because you don't always get to go w/family or friends on this trip so to already get to know people is like you are!
I'll have them do that! Colleen :)

Sounds great! I'll definitely check it out.

Oh, also... I noticed your children are 10 and 13. Would you mind if I PM'd them notes through here from my sons, James (14) and Joey (12)? I figured it might be nice if the kids kind of got to know each other a bit before the cruise.

Sure, that would be nice.

Hi Aubrey,

Yep, this has become quite an active little group. But just think about how much fun that forbodes onboard :-)

Here's a thread that will help answer the FE question: http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?t=1255071&referrerid=&highlight=fish+extender

Justthat: where does your family live in Toms River?

Tinkified: I went to SHU also, but a hundred years ago

weluvdisney5: I'm not from Nutley but close by in Newark, spent a lot of time in Nutley,Belleville and Bloomfield.

TechJPM: Glad to see someone from Toms River joining us. I wonder if we might know each other:scratchin

we are DVC members too, :woohoo: Bought after the first cruise, and done 2 add ons since then. the only regret is not having done it sooner.

I'm not sure about the yankee swap and fish extender. Is the yankee swap gift for everyone or a family?:confused3

We won't be able to make dinner on Friday, staying at the BWV, will anyone be in Disney on Friday?

I think that's everything for now pixiedust:

Where in Nutley do they live? What a small world

Joan: The club is 5-7 and that is where Emily is going, as well as Tyler. The lab is 8-12...so Rebecca is really the lab...BUT that said, you could sign her up for the club if that is what you or she wanted so Tyler and her (and Emily!) could be together! They are definately flexible especially with siblings and with the age when it boarders the end of one program and the beginning of another program. Although they would be flexible with Emily, the activities in the club fit her interests more. By the way did you get my PM?

Hypermommy: LOVE the countdown! Adorable! Really cute!

msdisney53: A lot has changed to the campus since you were a student. That said, a lot has changed since I was a student. My freshman year was the year they went to the NCAA championship tournament! Campus is almost unrecognizable to me now! I haven't been back in quite some time.
What was your major? I was Spec ed and elementary ed.

Have a good night all!
Michelle

I have a quick question about my daughter Jenny, she's 14 does she go to the stack with the teens???

Hi, Cheryl,
I would say she would probally want to. The teens have things like scavenger hunts. They have some cool things and they always seemed to have alot of fun together! This will be my sons 1st year in it, so we'll see!

Colleen:)

She could also do Ocean Quest which is only on the Magic. It is for 10-14 year olds. I'm glad because my 10 and 13 year old could be together for some activities if they want. Sometimes one will do something if the other one is but not on their own.

OK, I'm back.
The wife and I (well, more of the wife then me) have been trying to potty train our 2 year old DD and she asks to go on the potty every 10-15 minutes.
Last night, this went on from midnight right up to 4:15 this moring.
I don't know how my DW does it.

Anyways, I became a host of the first ever DCL house party this past Sat Jan 26th by applying at houseparty.com. I saw it in the "disney insider" that I get emailed to me periodically.

The secret (for fellow hosts only... sorry) is that you can apply the $50 on-board credit to your existing cruise and this CAN be combined with any other offer that you may already have. (we didn't have anythingelse)

The day after getting my box of party supplies from DCL, I called and asked if I could apply it, but they said no, it's for new booking only and you must book directly through DCL, not expedia, or AAA, or others.
I explained how I still had an email from their promotions department that only stated the 50 dollars credit and nowhere did it say further booking etc.
They still said no, and then I asked for an email to forward the promotion email to and I added my own comments how disappointed I was in a company as big as DCL and how I have 2 rooms booked for over $9000 and all I was asking for was $50.

Well, withing 3 hours of sending my email, I got a personal call (my cell # was included in the email) explaining how because of my letter, they have now changed the promotion and it can be applied to a cruise that I already had booked. :cool1:

I also recieved an email of it in writing.

So, I called and gave my code, but was told they were going to check to see if I was a registered host and actually held a party before giving me a credit.
No problem, it was a small party, but a party none the less and I posted pics on my houseparty site.

SORRY THIS WAS A LONG POST

As for shirts, last year I too did the michaels iron on and they came out pretty good. I'll most likely try them again but with a different front.

Forgot the spreadsheet stuff

Ariving on Thursday the 17th.
Still need to book the Pop Centry for the two nights before and one night after.
I believe my rooms are 7540 and 7542.
Early seating
No excursions (it's hard with a 2 1/2 year old)
I do have SPA res, but forgot what they are called.

Jeff

weluvdisney5: I have a friend who use to live on Crestwood Dr.and another near Vitiello's Bakery (love their bread)

Michelle: we stopped by the bookstore at SHU about 3 years ago and I was lost. I was also an el. ed major and special ed. I teach special ed. now :teacher: and two of our faculty also went to Seton Hall.

Hypermommy: Love the countdown :woohoo:

Hi Jeff, we also did the house party and we live in tewksbury. We did the same thing when we seen the fine print! My husband called, and like you said with all WE spend whats $50. ? I also put a post up ( which was all taken down) and then we got an e-mail with the change that was made! I'm actually glad they did! Not for the money but we thought Disney was top notch and that disappointed us to see them be like that. All in all, Disney did live up to it!

By the way, how was your party? We had alot of fun!!

Colleen:)

TJeff and A7Moulton: How do you get invited to attend the houseparty? Would you have to know someone who is hosting one and be invited..like a traditional party? The day before the party, I saw online about 5 different parties in my area less than an hour away. It looks like fun!

Anty: You are doing the Pirate encounter in GC right? I know, I know, it is on the list but I forgot to check before I started my post. We signed up for it. The early AM one, which one are you doing? I am debating the whole thing. I (we) was planning on doing just a beach day..take a cab to seven mile beach and be all leisurely about it. Still not convinced. Have you heard good things about it?

Hypermommy: Add us to the hyperlist. Couples Massage on day 3 (monday) and Pirate Encounter for GC. Couldn't get Palo for when I wanted. Will try on board.

Msdisney53..not only college alumus but both teachers! WOW :teacher: Dr. Marietta Peskin wasn't there when you were, was she? She was dean of department when I was there. I taught self-contained spec ed for 12 years (k-1), Inclusion for 2 years (k-1) and this year I changed jobs, tenure areas and the whole shabang! I am the building's reading specialist (k-6). My spec ed background and experience has definately been a plus with the new job!

Joan: Since our reservations are linked, your family's names came up when I went to book things! At first, I was like, whose names are those on my reservation! At first I paniced as if I saw your names on my credit report or something..when I took the time to read them I was like.. DUH! :rolleyes1 Did our names appear when you booked yours? Our final payment just went through today so this was our first chance looking at that stuff!

Good night all...we are over the midweek hump! Yeah!
Michelle

Hi, it was on the Disney email and you actually applied to have a house party. They were only picking 1,000 people to host a party on Jan.26th (i think they actually had more). It was like a traditional house party, just your the host. I invited family and friends and Disney sent everyone a box of stuff like brochures, posters to decorate, cds', prizes, favor bags ect. It turned out really nice. I'm pretty sure they will be doing it again next year. I had a couple people that are going to book so I'm sure this was profitable for them! So remember to look for it!

Colleen:)

Colleen,
The party was a lot of fun.
I even made the chocolate souffle dessert recipe they sent along.
They turned out alright, but I really liked the vanilla sauce that topped them.
Last year, I went all out for pirate night (pic in my sig).
The costumes took up a whole gym bag.
This year, the kids (4) will most likely bring the goofy hats that came in the party package and eye patches. This alone should save on luggage.
I'm packing some of the posters to put on our stateroom door for the cruise.
We're going with another family that will be two doors down from us.

thanks colleen and wdhinn89 :goodvibes Jenny is shy in the beginning but then you can't shut her up lol!!! Once she knows you she's very outgoing so I think she'll do good with the other teens. She is a freshmen in high school and is on the varsity cheerleading team for both football and basketball so she does hang out with all grades but mostly freshmen at school so I think she'll be fine.
