Any Snorers Out There?

A friend of mine is a very bad, very loud snorer. Her sleeping partner sleeps like an angel sent from the heavens, bless him.
Her kids are already telling her telling her that they dread sharing a hotel room with her at Universal this summer.
She has tried a mouth guard, tongue holder, chin strap & throat spray. All very sexy, but the snoring continues.
She doesn't smoke or drink alcohol. No known physical cause. No sleep apnea.
I.... I mean, she breathes fine.

Does anyone have any suggestions on what worked for them?

Sounds like surgery might be the next option.

Or ear plugs for everyone else, which is a much easier scenario for all :)

If it’s possible, suggest a sleep study. I’ve known many snorers who turned out to have sleep apnea, including my husband. A sleep mask solves the problem.

I didn't realize there was a surgical option. Thanks.

General physician’s will usually recommend weight loss, evaluation by ENT to rule out deviated septum, polyps etc, as well as a sleep study. I recommend going to a sleep specialist who offers performing sleep study n natural environment... meaning in her bed at home rather than hospital setting.

What about a suite with separate sleeping areas and doors that close? A white noise machine might help cover the snoring also.

Definitely have a sleep study done. If they have OSA, it can lead to other health issues.

I spent my teenage years thinking my step-dad was a HORRIBLE snore-er. I could hear him down the hall every night. Years later, after college and a few years into the working world, my mom and I took a trip to Disney together. and OHMYGOD! it was HER! All these years it was her and I had no idea. I started calling her Mufasa on that trip and the name has stuck. I opted for headphones ever since. She's tried lots of things and always feels terrible about it.

My husband snores occasionally and I always give him a nudge (or a good shaking) until he stops. Sometimes it only helps for a minute, other times it does the trick.

I find that putting a pillow over my husband's face until he stops breathing works...or I at least consider it some nights, when he is snoring so loudly in my ear and his arm and shoulder are on me and it's heavy...special hell right there.

One of my frequent travelling companions to WDW snores pretty badly. I've tried everything when sharing a room with him - ear plugs, white noise, pillows, hiding in the bathroom - nothing really worked well. On my last trip there were three of us, including him, so we opted for a Family Suite at All-Star Music. We put him in the bedroom and I couldn't hear a thing. It was wonderful! So, my advice, is get a suite or separate rooms. I know it's more expensive, but it's the only thing that really works.
