where art thou?

Carol I'm glad there is someone else close by sharing the heat but I can't wait for the rain to arrive. We need a few inches to refresh the ground and liven things up!

hug to those who need thm :)

Oh...and I got time warped again....back 2400 posts!

to the DIS boards to see what DVC resales were available and it appears that OKW is the least offered property. Probably since it offeres the largest rooms and the best atmosphere. Saratoga Springs seems to be the one people are most willing to part with and surprisingly enough, Beach Club and Boardwalk had tons listed.

For those of you who aren't DVC members, this is the best place to pick up a DVC ownership. It can save you on your accomodations from 50-60% and even a resale gives you 36 years of Disney vacation fun.

We have a lot of DVC owners in the room that can attest to the value of a DVC ownership (and no I'm not a salesman) but I am, an owner :)

just my 4 cents

Went to an open air bar/eatery last night to have some bad BBQ abd a few brews...by the time we closed the place down I felt like I had been dipped in a vat of grease....ICK.....brews were sure good though...and the company even better...hope everyone has a great weekend...I'm going to a show at one of the casinos today to see Imaginaya...a Russian Troup that does dance and gynastics...a bit like the Cirque....packing for WDW....where is that sunscreen? and dreaming of a cold refreshing Smooth and creamy DOLE WHIP!!!

I've always been confused by this... I went to the DVC resale list and found one with 200 points. With the rate calculator, I'd need 220 for a trip I'm hoping to take in April of 2008... the cost for the 200 ponts for BCV was over $18,000... how long before you break even and how much are the annual fees?

I will have to travel during school vacations and holidays going forward due to Noah's age (7 and just entering second grade). Wouldn't it take me a LONG time to break even?:confused3

Hi Kimmie,
It really doesn't take as long as you'd think to break even. You would need to compare the typical room rate for your travel seasons to DVC but you would need to compare deluxe resort rates and not value resort rates. If you prefer to stay at the deluxe resorts its really the way to go. If you prefer to stay in a value resort then it woudn't be worth it.

If you are considering buying, one important piece of advice is buy where you want to stay or where you would be happy staying the most if you couldn't get into one of the other resorts.

Just as an example of the value, my sister owned 150 points at BWV for the past five years. She sold it for more money than she paid for it and got 5 years of vacations out of it at deluxe resorts! She sold it to buy 200 points at AKV not because she was dissatisfied with DVC. Not many timeshares increase in value.

I own at BCV and another sister still owns at BWV so between us we have a home resort booking advantage at three resorts. Fortunately, we share well!

I hope everyone here is doing well. We have gorgeous weather here this weekend! Upper 70's to low 80's and virtually no humidity. Staying close to home this weekend. The US Open is here and wreaking havoc with traffic!

I would disagree slightly with Maureen. I based my financial analysis on how much it would cost me to rent the accomodations at OKW, which is my home resort. Based on that analysis, my initial investment covered the cash cost of about 4-5 years worth of stays. I have been a member for over 11 years. Therefore, it has been worth my money.

Kimmie-given your love of WDW, I would definitely purchase a DVC membership. And yes, you can find some great deals on the secondary market.

Thanks Maureen!!! This makes sense to me now. I was comparing it to Mod's where I typically stay!

I imagine as Noah gets older as well, we would enjoy DVC. I'm going to make it my goal for 2008 - instead of taking a Disney Cruise, save my $$$ and buy DVC! Wooo Hoooo... a new goal!! :woohoo:

compared mine to the mods which is where I usually stay and at the regular rates once I was no longer a Florida resident at it was a super deal. OKW is is comparable to the best hotels on property. VWL are in the same league. I've never stayed at any of the other DVC's but I'm assuming they are the same as well.

One of the great things is you have choices. with DVC you have studio which compares to a regular room at any of the deluxe hotels. A one bedroom is bigger than most one bedroom apartments and it has a jacuzzi, full living room and kitchen...they go from tehre to two bedroom and then a grand villa...you can take virtual tours at the Disney Vacation Club website :)

Stays are all based on points and point costs are based on when you go. I can get 6 nights on a one bedroom what will sleep 4-6 in November for 131 points :)

HAPPY BIRTHDAY SHA!!!!!!

I hope you have a very wonderful and magical day!!!!!!
