Any Recommendations for a Romantic Trip to the Poconos?.UPDATED: Better than a trip!

we stayed at the woodlands once and did not like it at all....

but we were there for a family reunion....perhaps if we were there for a couples only thing we may have liked the clubs and the huge..grotto hot tub....lol ETA I just looked at their web page...and the jacuzzi/ hot tub area...was not that well lit when we were there...)

We had a stream view room and it was really nice, a great brunch, and the bar was nice too. We had a really nice stay there.

I was just reading through this thread and I saw that Brookdale has closed - we are sooo upset - we went there with my sister and her family for the first time in January and had such a great time. That was the only family resort out of all the Ceasar's Resorts. My dh just said the other day that he wanted to go back soon. I guess we will have to go to one of the other Ceasar's resorts without the kids.

Yes, we probably just hit a bad weekend....
it was super crowded...and the clubs were packed and we had terrible service at breakfast!

We did go there once before for a private party and it was near the stream and the party was lovely....

We did visit the new Mount Airy Casino and had dinner at the Steakhouse there. It was wonderful. Not sure how that hotel is and it's probably not very romantic.
I hear the lodge is "beautiful"

OP.... I just though of this place.. I have been wanting to go for years.. not in PA but not to far off

Mohonk is lovely........Really a beautiful place any time of year!

Also where you live? How many hours you are willing to drive and your price range....I know we will find you a much better place!

My boyfriend wants to take a trip to the Poconos the last weekend in May but he is leaning towards the Ceasar's Cove Haven Resort, but I think it looks a little dated, any other ideas for places to stay?

We don't want to do a chain hotel, and I went to AAA but they weren't any help, so I thought I could get some ideas here.

Thanks!

Jen does it have to be PA? Can we give you other ideas?

My parents both went on their honeymoons with their first spouses at Cove Haven and ended up getting divorced rather quickly. My mother's friend also honeymooned at Cove Haven and got divorced. We believe that Cove Haven is cursed.

I just rode through there a couple of months ago. It does look *very* dated, at least on the outside. Some people may feel that the champagne glass tubs are cheesy, but I think they look cool. But now that's May, they won't have snowmobiling and such set up.

Mount Airy Lodge has a lot of advertisements on the radio but I've never been there.

So it ended up not working out for us to go away this weekend BUT............Even better he proposed last night!!!!!! He totally caught me off gurard, since there wasn't anything special about last night, so I was surprised!

So hopefully we will get married next year, but it won't be a disney wedding or honeymoon since i'm just beginning to convert him ;)

Thank you all for your help on trying to find a place, and I think we are going to go to Cape May now instead of the Poconos.
