My boyfriend wants to take a trip to the Poconos the last weekend in May but he is leaning towards the Ceasar's Cove Haven Resort, but I think it looks a little dated, any other ideas for places to stay?

We don't want to do a chain hotel, and I went to AAA but they weren't any help, so I thought I could get some ideas here.

Thanks!

The only place we have stayed in the Poconos was Great Wolf Lodge. Hardly romantic since it is a family resort with an indoor waterpark. Although we had a whirpool with a fireplace. The room, was romantic at least. We enjoyed the resort.

We did visit the new Mount Airy Casino and had dinner at the Steakhouse there. It was wonderful. Not sure how that hotel is and it's probably not very romantic.

I have some co-workers who have been to the a couple of the Caears resorts and didn't hear rave reviews.

Maybe check out tripadvisor.com

Thanks for the reply, I was looking at the Mount Airy Casino, but we were looking for something a little more quiet and relaxed.

The AAA person actaully recommended the Great Wolf Lodge to us, but it is more family oriented than couple oriented.

Like I said thanks for responding :)

Cove Haven the last week of May isn't the best choice. Their resort activities are better suited for winter or summer. I would look elsewhere, unless you were planning on more private forms of recreation...

Althought the Ceasar's resorts are little dated and silly (big champagne glass), they can be a nice romantic getaway if you take it with a grain of salt. We have stayed at Paradise Stream and Cove Haven. They are very quiet. You can take nice long walks together. Hang out in your hot tub, private pool or suana (depending on what room level you choose). It's really not that, that bad.

If you are totally against Ceasar's look into Pocmont, a little more modern. www.pocmont.com

Or, if it's still there the Fernwood hotel, close by Bushkill Falls.

I would go for Mt Airy.. There are so many things in the area you can go off and see, do.

Hubby and I went in March but stayed at a days inn a few minutes away.

Cove haven is ok but $$$ I took a tour of it one year. My grandparents lived across the street from it. I have heard some stories from locals that would make you not want to stay there:scared1:

there is also Caesars Brookdale but thats more family oriented. How about looking for a hour or cottage rental.. try www.vrbo.com

Mt. Haven! Rent a cabin. It is so nice. They have all inclusive specials. The cabins have fireplaces and jacuzzi tubs.:woohoo: Bow chica wow wow! The food is even really good. We had deer come right up to the cabin. We could watch them from the sliding glass doors. Just be warned that there is clay shooting nearby. We woke up and were taking cover because we thought some loon was shooting up the place!:rotfl:

Thanks for the advice, I will look into the suggestions.

By the way I think my DBF is going to ask me to marry him that weekend, so I really didn't want to tell people we got engaged at Caesar's in a 7 foot champagne tub!

That would be a great story for the grandkids!!:rotfl:

I would think about the Fernwood then or something close to Bushkill. The Falls would be a nice spot for a proposal I would think, although with the raging water you might not hear him.

yep, I was just going to say the falls would be perfect for that. Pack a picnic lunch.

I recommend Mount Airy Lodge & Casino.

I just opened back in December, under a huge renovation. Really nice place!:thumbsup2

or you can come to my house!:scared1:

...and its about a 20 minute drive from the NJ boarder on Rt 80

It's not a resort....but The East Mountain INN in wilkes barre is a beautiful hotel..... they have a nice sunday brunch..... (live music...etc.)

pretty grounds with a gazebo in back....set on a hill overlooking the valley.

We stay there when visiting family so I can't tell you much about things to do in the area...

The pics don't do the hotel justice....

I have stayed here it nice. Although in Wilkes Barre I would stay in the Woodlands. I love that hotel but it is about an hour from the Poconos.

Someone mentioned Fernwood. I goodled it and I think this is where DH and I stayed when we first got married. It looks like they remodled fromt he one hotel room pic but I would double check. The Fernwood I remember had the circle bed with the mirror on the ceiling and a heart shaped hot tub in the room, and curshed velvet wallpaper. It was obnoxious, DH and I ahd no clue. It was our weirdest hotel stay yet.

we stayed at the woodlands once and did not like it at all....

but we were there for a family reunion....perhaps if we were there for a couples only thing we may have liked the clubs and the huge..grotto hot tub....lol ETA I just looked at their web page...and the jacuzzi/ hot tub area...was not that well lit when we were there...)
