Any photos of the the Dream Cat. 8A double porthole rooms?

So does that mean the accessible rooms will have the pole or the divider. I do not mind the single bath, but I am not sure about a pole in the middle of the room to wake up in the middle of the night and bump into. may have to get some glow in the dark stickers for it for the night.:rotfl:

If they are mickey shaped, DCL can't complain that we enhanced the room, :rotfl:

I have the mickey walking side view die cutter and I can get glow in the dark tape, hmmmm I nice neat ring of mini mickeys around the pole :rolleyes1.

I don't trust DCL now, since they said 5020 and 5022 would have a split bathroom where photos posted of one of those exact rooms shows that it does NOT have a split bathroom. Unless those photos were mislabeled as 5020 or 5022 and are actually 5018.

Hmm, that sounds weird.
The pictures that were posted last week of 5020 & 5022 show that is does not have a split bathroom, only a single room with sink/toilet/shower all together.
Since your room is 5522 (on the right side) I would think it would be laid-out the same way.

Rooms 5018 and 5518 are Accessible rooms, and those only have one large bathroom to accommodate a wheelchair.

According the Disney website, the only accessible cat 8A room is 6014. If you look at the virtual rooms, this is indeed the only one that shows it to be accessible. Can't wait until the stateroom number review posts start coming in. Maybe then we will know who needs to bring the glow in the dark stickers.:rotfl:

I have two deck plans on my PC of the Dream.
One of them only shows 6014 as an Accessible 8A room, but the 2nd plan shows six Accessible 8A rooms (6012, 6014, 6510, 6512, 5018, 5518)

I think that while DCL planned for all 6 rooms shown on the earliest deck plans to be HCP, when complete they may not have meet ADA standards. I have searched on the Dream and Fantasy all the way to summer 2012 and the only Cat 8a that shows when searching accessible is 6014, it does allow up to four persons.

Are there not other rooms that show hcp on the same version of the deck plan as above that are no longer hcp, aft rooms??

Hopefully ,I will get some answers tomorrow on this. I spoke with a supervisor tonight and he is looking into this and will call me tomorrow.

I asked him to please clarify the mystery of CAT 8A !

We have 5522 and also I am in the process of planning a Family Reunion for summer of 2012. 2 family members want an outside stateroom and I don't want to suggest 8A until I know if there are split bathrooms, what the configuration of the cabin is and the sq feet. If there is a wall dividing the bedroom from the living area, does the bedroom also have a tv ?

Unfortunately, when I said I was planning a family reunion he seemed more interested in "helping" me do that than the other ???
Besides, why would I want him to book the reunion when I can do it onboard and get the 10% off + my OBC.

If I get any answers, I'll report back.

I am in 5022 and 5020 in a few weeks.

I too saw the photos of the none split bath (they were a ta so I can't see them making an error)

My TA called DCL and reservations, they both told her we have a split bath, but based on the photos I don't believe them.

So I can do nothing until I am on the ship anyway.

These cabins also only sleep 3, So they are a bit larger then most and have the double port holes, but they sleep less people.

I will be sure to post here what happens on board and what they said to me onboard.

The linked to deck plan is the same as is at the Future booking desk on the ships, I would go with that for what is handicap, but the older deck plan might be a hint to which rooms might have a single bath. Basically any room that is not the pre-made slot-able format, could have a single bath, as it is custom built room.

I got a call from the DCL supervisor that I spoke with last evening.

He said he was unable to give me any info about the Dream's Stateroom
Cat 8A. He might have an answer tomorrow and if so he'll call me back.
I asked, " Why does it take 48 hours just to provide info about a stateroom's configuration and whether or not it has a single bath or a split bath ?"

Finally, I told him ,never mind, I'll be on the ship in 30 days and I'll find out myself.

Why,why, why is Disney so secretive about everything ? :confused3

I also asked, for future ref, if a Grandparent had a Concierge stateroom but
other family members did not, with the new gates up on the Dream, can the other family members visit in the concierge rooms?

He said, if they are escorted by the ones staying in the Concierge staterooms ! He emphasized that the "guests" are not allowed in the Concierg lounge.

How strange! You'd think they could call the room steward on board and ask, if nothing else. Please report back. I also have 5522 booked for the Fantasy and would love to know!

Last week I sent DCL a message about room 6016 and got this response today. Unfortunately it doesn't say where the location of the TV is, or if there is more desk/drawer space.

In reviewing our reservation system, I see you will be sailing next year
on the Disney Fantasy. She is the sister ship of the Disney Dream and
she is in the process of being built.

Since she is a sister ship, her layout and staterooms will be the same
as the Disney Dream.

As you know, the stateroom you have chosen is a Category 8A Deluxe
Family Oceanview Stateroom. The square footage of the stateroom is 241.
Based on availability, this stateroom can accommodate up to 4 Guests.

The bedding in the stateroom is as follows:

*Queen-size bed (approx. 64" x72")
*Single convertible sofa (approx. 32" x72")

Staterooms sleeping 4 utilize a single ceiling pull-down upper berth
(approx. 32" x72").

This category (8A) has two large porthole windows with built-in seating.
The cushioned window seat is accented with teak wood and stainless steel
and are approximately 5 feet in diameter.

In addition, the stateroom has the following:

Split bath -
-One half with commode, vanity mirror, sink
-2nd half with vanity mirror, sink and round tub/shower.

The round tubs have a built-in seat, a rain shower head and a hand-held
shower.

Your stateroom will also have a privacy divider curtain.

I hope this information has been helpful. If you require further
assistance in planning your visit, please feel free to contact us.

I asked a bit more info about the Cat 8A rooms on Deck 6 & 5, and got this response today. At least they 'seem' to be putting some effort in finding out the accurate info.

--------------
I would be happy to assist you.

In order to provide an accurate response to your email message regarding
the layouts of the staterooms referenced in your email, we need to
conduct additional research.

We appreciate your patience while we process your request and look
forward to contacting you shortly.

Wow, still no new pictures?

I recieved a call from DCL and they left a message on my voice mail this weekend. They said that they are 'still investigating the layout of the Cat 8A rooms, and that sometimes during the build process that changes have to be made as things may come up.'
So I'm not sure exactly what that means, but he said he'd call me back this week when he gets more info.

I don't see why it's such a mystery.
All they need is someone that works for DCL to go in the rooms while they are unoccupied between cruises and take some pictures of the different 8A room layout.
Then show them and say "Rooms XXXX and XXXX look like this......and rooms XXXX look like this....Differences are....."

Thank you so much for the pics of both rooms. So just to get this right 6510 is handi and 6514 is not.
I have two deck plans.....the first shows handi for 4 rooms (6012, 6014, 6510, 6512) leaving only 6016 and 6514 as standard room (on deck 6).......while the second deck plans show only 1 handi room 6014 on deck 6.
But your pics clearly show 6510 as handi, which was on the older deck plans, unless they've got an 3rd version out now?

I'm booked on the Fantasy for May 2012 (7 night eastern) in room 6016 (8A). When I changed to that room from 6514 (8C) a month ago, that was based on the 5520/5522 8A pics on Deck 5 that shows the split-room design with the dividing wall. Now since we have your pics of 6514 (non-handi), we can assume that all of them on Deck 6 are open-rooms without the dividing wall, and the non-handi rooms have the support beam in the middle.

I'm not sure if I like this layout of room 6514, compared to 5520/5522 with the dividing wall. I take it 6514 did not had the 2-split bath? (The other people said the 5520/5522 only had 1 and showed in the pics) Did 6514 have the round shower/tub or the regular rectangle shower/tub? Also, based on the location of the TV on the side wall next to the door in 6514, it doesn't look like you'd be able to view it much from the bed, since it would be blocked by a half-wall with the blue picture on it. The TV in room 6510 (handi) does seem more viewable from bed as there's nothing blocking it.

I'm not crazy about the desk being right in the middle of the two port holes (6510/6514) and blocking them some. Also, that desk isn't full-length like the ones in 5520/5522 and other cat-8 rooms, so I'm guessing it doesn't have has much storage space.
