I think I have finally figured it out! Everyone says to me "Disney, Again!?" And now I think this is the best explaination. Getting a taste of Disney is like getting an sample of good food at a fancy grocery store (like Trader Joes). You walk in and sample a small morsal of food (say Soarin) and you want more so you may get to have a few more samples (ride it 4 more times during your trip) but you never get your fill. That's how I feel about Disney I never feel like I can ride ToT enough, walk into the Magic Kingdom during rope drop enough times, or even see the cute kids with all that excitment on their faces. I tell everyone it's the only place in the world where every morning feels like Christmas.

Beach vacations are fun and relaxing but for that tear jerking moment...you can only get that at Disney.

This is what I always tell people that say "Why do you go to Disney so much?":

"Your right, I'm insane...it's a terribly crowded, hot, unpleasant place, and it's full of nut-jobs like me running around screaming *I love Disney! I love Disney!* You and everyone you know should stay away. Far, far, away."

Just doing my part to keep the crowds and prices down. I consider myself single-handedly responsible for the current 4/3 deal. :thumbsup2

Your response is good, too.

I love this thread. My hubby and I just booked a quick trip for next month, the kids had a few days off and my ap is burning a hole in my pocket! It will be our 4th trip, third in the last 2 years and I have not told a soul yet becuase I am dreading their reactions. Noone understands why we want to go so often and how we can come up with the $$ to do it. I may print up the article pp posted and just hand it out! LOL.

:lmao: :rotfl2: :rotfl: Perfect :thumbsup2

I have 2 variations of responses for this question when it is posed to me depending on who asks me. The first one is "why would you continuously EVERY year go live out in the woods (like an animal) with the bugs and nothing of comfort every weekend of the summer months?"

The second is "why would you go lay in the dirt next to a large body of water that contains fish that can eat you and let the sun fry you until you look like a disgusting hand bag EVERY year?"

One of those responses usually shuts up the "nay sayers!" LOL!

Until next time,
John

I really wanted my bf to come with me to Disney, so I started scheming (he's not like "us.")

So I planted the seed in his brain that "wouldn't it be nice to go somewhere for my birthday."

Him: "Yeah, it's so cold up here around then, we really should escape. Where were you thinking."

Me: "Oh I don't know, there are a few places I'd like to visit, San Antonio, Nashville, Baltimore, The Keys, Orlando would be nice too."

...then he gives me the look "Orlando??"

Me: "Honestly it's probably the best option, I mean we could hit bad weather at any of those places at the end of February, it's sooo hit or miss. And at least at Disney, even if you hit bad weather, you know you're going to have a good time."

Him: "And it's Disney."

Me: "Well yeah, there's that too."

...it's nice when you don't have to explain ::yes:: And apparently it worked!! Though we're compromising with only one day at a park...I'll have to deal.

And ftr: if anyone asks me "Disney, again??" My response is always, "Yes, I KNOW! Isn't it exciting!" And then they stop talking to me for fear I'll divulge any plans I've started to make :rotfl:

Well then, you fanatics are the PERFECT crowd to ask my newbie question... (I am a fanatic-wannabe ;) )

Is the 4/3 deal the best you've ever seen? I was thinking with the room AND park tickets at the discount, it sounds AMAZING to me! But I've been told by many a AAA fan that they can do better...

And... bounceback and pin codes seem to be towards room only, so I am still hunting for "the best."

Just checking! Thanks! :goodvibes

i only tell people who like the world that i am going there.
when i went a couple weeks back, only 3 people knew.

i cannot stand the comments. gave up trying.
it was after the "oh, an amusement park? i would not want to do that. i dont really care for amusement parks." that i stopped mentioning it.

I proudly say "yes". We know that there is more to Disney than parks..oh I don't tell them that part as I, too, am doing my part to kept down attendance. I happy about my four trips last year with a Disney cruise thrown in too.
I do offer to help plan AND go with as a guide to any of my friends.

My SIL thinks Dh and I are crazy for going to WDW so much. Her idea of the perfect vacation is laying on a beach, I think she is crazy for that so it makes us even. Other people and friends of ours really don't say much other than it must be nice that you can afford to go to WDW so much. Yes it is!! :thumbsup2

We've traveled all over the world, many countries, many memorable experiences. But when we want to forget our troubles and just exist in a state of pure bliss we come to Disney. We tell people.... if you've never been, you'd never understand.

I tell them it's the only real vacation for me as a mom. If we go to the beach, I am the one on clean up duty when everything (and everyone!) is covered in sand. I'm the one getting burnt to a crisp and making sure no one drowns. At the fair or busch gardens, there are a lot of rides the kids can't ride so that leaves me babysitting and holding backpacks while dh and oldest child rides.

At disney, no sand, no water (well for the most part ;) ) and the kids can ride 99% of everything so we go on rides together as a family and I can shut out the world and RELAX. Plus have fun and see the kids so happy. That is worth it to me.

People say that to me ALLLLL the time. I usually answer with (depending on who is asking)

Why do you go to Las Vegas so much?
Why do you go to Cancun so much?
Hawaii again? Don't you get sick of it?
Spending a week at teh beach again? Why?

I mean, really, everyone has something that they just LOVE to do and then there is always people who just do not understand why they keep doing it.

My sister is a Star Wars JUNKIE!! I mean it. She was in the Rose Parade a few years ago in the Star Wars theme. She has had dinner with George Lucas. She has a room in her house dedicated to all her Star Wars stuff.

She has 2 sons now and people tell her she needs to "get over" her Star Wars hobby. Why? Because to other people it is kid stuff? Why does she need to stop? She goes to Sci Fi/Comic conventions every chance she can and she brings her kids. People tell her...Again? Another convention?
So what? Why does it matter to other people what she does with her time and money?

Same goes for me and WDW. What does it matter to anyone else if I go no where else but WDW. Really. It's my "thing". To other people it is a waste of time and money, but not to me.

So that is what I say. I say "Everyone has their own 'thing' they like to do over and over, this is mine."

Very very true! I go to WDW weekly. One of my coworkers snapped on me last spring and yelled at me that something must be wrong with me. He even used the "not normal" comment. He said he's never gone to any of the parks since he was a child and really just how much different could the parks be? I told him to take a day off, go with me, and I promised he'd change his mind. The entire ride home from Orlando that day all he said was "I'm sorry. I get it now." He now has an AP.

Dh and I are going on a trip next week, just the two of us. My SIL is watching my kids. We were originally set to go to Las Vegas. But last week Dh and I looked at each other and at the same time we said "I would rather go to WDW" and just like that...we changed our flight and itinerary.

We haven't told anyone yet that we switched. Well, we told the kids. They were surprisingly ok with it. Probably because we have all been so many times and they know we will likely go again as a family in a year or so, we just went this past August.

We figure we will just start sending pics via our cell phone to everyone once we get there lol

You know it's really bad when people who USED to ask you "Disney AGAIN?" don't even ask any more, nothing, not even eye rolling, just nothing!

know what else I hate? Is the "How can you afford to go so much!" comments.

Honestly, I just say "It's none of your business" but still, the comments grate on my nerves.

I am with you all. Everyone, with the exception of close friends who are as fanatical as us about Disney, give us the same looks and comments. However, I realize my kids are only kids for so long and we give them the choice and it never fails, they want to go to Disney. We go every year and that is what we put all our extra money aside for. We never take anything out of our budget for the trip. My brother always complains about how he and his kids could never afford to go, yet, they can pay for a hunting club, going to the beach, etc. I figured what a week at the beach (hotel, eating out, beachside attractions, etc.) would cost and they always spend more that we do at Disney. Plus, we are using the kids play, stay, and dine free (saved us more than the 4/3 deal) and are going for far less than any trip we look elsewhere for. And yes, I am the one who gets back thinking when I can get the wife to let me book another. Disney is awesome and the "bring a tear to your eye" moments are priceless. I never get that at the beach, mainly because I am red-headed and the beach does not love my fair skin. The only tears I get from the beach are from the sunburn. Plus, when people ask how we can afford Disney, because it is "SOOOOOOO" expensive, I don't let them know otherwise. Keeps the crowds down for us.
