Where is the best place to see this if you are NOT planning on leavung right after? I don't want to be caught in the crush of people. I guess I'm asking if it's possible to avoid the crowd? Looking at my Passporter Map it looks like the area where it starts (near Kilimanjaro Safari) would be the best.

Any thoughts?
TIA,
Kimba

We love watching it in Harambe, near where it starts. The atmosphere is great (love the buildings in Harambe) and as soon as the parade is done, you can go to KS.

That's where I would suggest. I sat in the area by Tusker House there, where there's some big, tall pole, and I saw great. And I got to see the parade twice since it starts and ends near there.

I always watch the parade sitting on the rock wall right outside the big doors to Africa. If you sit there for just a couple of minutes after the parade is over, the traffic will have walked past you and you can go right into Africa. There is hardly ever anyone sitting there, its a great viewing spot, and I can go right up to ride the safari after the parade. Since its so close to the beginning of the parade, it doesn't take long for the people leaving and following the parade to get past you. :earboy2:

I'll plan on viewing it in that area.
Anyone know about how long the parade lasts?

It lasts about 12 minutes. You can also head down Pangani trail after the parade to wait out the crowds.

Thanks for that. I thought about doing the trail...that sounds like a plan!

Are the parades at the other parks that quick too? I'd like to have an idea so I can make PS/ADRs around the parade.

I actually think AK's is the shortest. MGM a little longer and Share a Dream the longest of the day time parades.

THANKS

Usually, I see the parade from near Island Mercantile next to the bridge to the Oasis. As soon as the parade passes, youcan head towards the Oasis and out the exit before anyone else.

We watched it on the path that leads from Harambe to Asia. Not crowded and close to a restroom if you need one.

The best way to see the parade and avoid crowds is to see it from near the main entrance to Kilimanjaro Safaris upon it's return.

The parade starts from the gates just next to the Safari entrance and heads through the village, over the bridge towards Discovery Island (and taking most of the crowds with it ;) ), then makes a counter-clockwise circle around the park....returning through Africa/Harambe and exiting through the same gates from which it begins....ending at aproximately 4:25-4:30ish, depending on how fast they are moving.

Lots more elbow room at this point, better photo ops, and more chances for character interaction.

last year on our honeymoon we went to wait near where it starts and a CM operating the safari told us to move as he had a better spot. It was right opposite the gates where the floats come out. After this we went on the Pangani forest trail and it was a nice relaxing way to cool down.
