I don't know about the press pot - as I did snag one while we were having breakfast at Kona -- but I do know how you feel. All I wanted was a Lapu Lapu.... Then, my daughter got sick and we were confined to the room for three days - two trips to urgent care and one visit from a local pediatrician. Finally, I drug myself to the bar for my Lapu Lapu in a pineapple and they were OUT OF PINEAPPLES. How does this happen??? I seriously volunteered to drive to the grocery store and buy them a pineapple. The next shipment wasn't coming in until the day we left. So, no Lapu Lapu for me
This time, I'm making the CL golf cart driver stop at the bar before he takes me to check in. Just kidding..... maybe...
I'm planning on trying a Lapu Lapu this upcoming trip ~ NO I've never had one!!! But, I was wondering...where it is served in a pineapple, do you tend to get a bunch of pineapple pulp in the drink??? I don't like pulp.
The pulp ends up being one of the best parts. You need a spork. Trust me, bring a spork. The alcohol soaks into the remaining pineapple meat, you use your spork and scrape the sides of the pineapple after your drink is empty.
People blanch at the cost of the Lapu Lapu, but honestly, you only need one, LOL. Scraping the sides just maximizes your value.

Soooo true! There's maybe 4-5 ounces of drink in the pineapple - we used the straw to try & scrape as much pineapple off the sides into the drink as we could...we were scraping long after the liquid was gone LOL!! If there hadn't been people around us on the beach we probably would have smashed the pineapple on the sidewalk so that we could have tried to bite more fruit out of it!!
We have been lucky at Poly and always get a table and chairs to set up camp. We much prefer this to loungers as we aren't "laying out" folks. We like the shade of the umbrella and being able to sit around a table for snacks or a little lunch. I have had bigger issues finding somewhere to sit on the beach while watching the kiddos play in the sand. I have been know to just drag one of our table chairs out there....and I always bring it back to the table! You can also look around and if someone has a table with chairs but isn't using them all, just ask if you can use one.
Have fun!!!
Where is a member of the Lapu Lapu Spork Scraping Support Society when you need him/her?

Wow! It's that good huh??? I'll definitely have to try it out. Do you bring your own sporks or are they supplied at the Poly???
do the machines at the poly take cash or just a room card with charging on it?
Ok, so this is a shameless ticker check to share that we are UNDER 1 MONTH TO GO!!!
I started packing...dont laugh. I haven't put anything into a suitcase but i have started making stacks...

The last time I did laundry on a trip was two years ago - at that time they took cash.
Still taking cash as of October 2011. Charging on a room card would be AWESOME!!!!!!!!!
thank you!! last june we stayed at the contemp. and there machines only take room cards. which was great, no fumbling for change. i normaly dont put charging on my room key.
my wife says "just because your on vacation, dont get you out of doing the laundry".
funny story, one year we were at cbr. and there was laundry to do. i do it half way through our trip. i carry the wash over to the laundry room by the pool, all the washers were open so i used 4 at one time to get my chore done faster. it was about 9pm so not many people around. there were a few dryers running. i just hung out, reading the paper. the washers were just about done and here comes three women. the one ask me, wow, how does your wife get you to do laundry? they start giggling. so my washers are in the rinse cycle and i add fab. softener. ok, the giggling starts again. the other one says , oh look lisa, he even fabric softens.
im willing to bet, there were a few guys sitting at the bar that night who got an ear full when there wives got back!!! they were impressed with my laundry tech. glad they didnt hang around for the folding!!!
You have to supply your own, but just stop at any KFC and stock up. It will be worth it.
oooooh, good tip...packing sporks now on my "to do" list
Borrowing friends park bag and just got it from her yesterday. I will have to make sure the sporks are packed in there.
Do they make virgin Lapu Lapus? Or just anything in that pineapple? My daughter would flip out being able to eat one of those.
