Hi! Thanks for joining! I'll definitely come read your PTR when it's posted; will we be there at the same time? I got my poster at WalMart-can't beat the price!

Merry Christmas Everybody!

I've been waiting for my GPA to come out, and although I'm still waiting for one class, I'm pleased overall.

A in statistics
B- in intro psych
B- in my freshman writing seminar about divorce
B+ in phonetics
I'm expecting either a B+ or A- in my communication disorders overview class
My GPA should be around a 3.2 or 3.27, which I'm told is good for a freshman.

We all got some lovely gifts! :santa:

Mom:
-I made her five mix CDs, including one of only Disney music.
-I bought her a "Geneseo Mom" sweatshirt that she's been wanting.

Me:
-A $25 Wegmans gift card (Free grocery money!)
-Season 2 of Everwood (Adorable show!)
-An new flip cell phone (My old one was really old-not even a color screen).
-Fuzzy socks!
-Passporter's Walt Disney World 2010:goodvibes
-An alarm clock

My bosses at work also got me:
-A $25 iTunes gift card, in addition to one I had won the night before
-More fuzzy socks
-A Lindt chocolate snowman
-A $20 gift certificate to the local sub place at school

My brother:
-Pajamas
-Pillowcases (Cars-the movie- and Mickey Mouse. My mom made them).
-Magazines
-Old library books to read
-I bought him the book "Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs" and "The 20th Century Children's Book Treasury", which has stories like Madeline, Babar, Chicka Chicka Boom Boom, and Amelia Bedelia.

I'll post pictures later. I'm DVRing the Christmas parade, which I'm excited to watch. However, I don't care for Kelly Ripa as the host. She always seems forced and fake, like she doesn't want to be there. It's Disney! Be happy!

Glad to hear that you and your family had a very Merry Christmas, Gretchen!! :santa: Sorry I've been MIA but it's been a very busy few weeks for me! WTG on the good grades!! :thumbsup2 That's great!! And it sounds like you got some nice presents for Christmas. And I agree with you on Kelly Ripa--she is VERY forced and fake--she gets on my last nerve! But even with her hosting, we really enjoyed the Disney Christmas parade!!

I took some pictures of our Christmas tree:

I know this isn't a great picture, but the lights look really cool:

Christmas day was pretty uneventful. I read my Passporter and set up my phone and watched some Everwood. I also made chocolate covered oreo balls for my aunt's the next day. My mom had to work 4-10, so my brother and I hung out and kept ourselves entertained.

Saturday we went to my Aunt Caryn's. A lot of my family was there, including my adorable cousins Amber and Gavin (ages 5 & 3). So fun!

This morning I was awoken at 3am by my cat. I've been awake since then so I finished watching the Christmas Parade. My thoughts:

-Still sticking to my thoughts about Kelly Ripa.
-I'm sure the Jonas Brothers were great, but they were impossible to hear over all the screaming.
-Demi Lovato was great as always.
-Celine Dion & Stevie Wonder: Can't go wrong with them!
-Loved all the little girls on the princess float!
-The Yanni voices were good.
-Kris Allen was just okay I thought. However, I also don't watch American Idol, so maybe he was better then.

Some side notes:
-I was looking into the Give a Day, Get a Disney Day so I could save a day on our park admission. Turns out it's cheaper to buy the 7day WPF&M, then to buy the 6 day WPF&M.
-I saw that Disney on Ice will be coming to Buffalo...4 days after I go back to school! :headache:
-Is anyone else disappointed that the 2010 planning DVD is essentially the same one that's been used since 2007?
-I never went to River Country, but here are some really eerie picks of what it's become.

I've got all 7 Harry Potter books and all 6 movies, plus The Little Mermaid, Beauty and the Beast, Toy Story, The Lion King, and Aladdin to keep me occupied until January 16th.

I have to take my mom to work in a few hours because I have to take myself to the dentist this afternoon. But tonight I'm going to my friend Caitie's house for a "Christmas Break Reunion". Should be fun!:thumbsup2

Okay first of all I'm totally lovin' your PTR. Great plans, great everything! I get excited just reading your posts :goodvibes Subbing!

I'm 100% jealous you are staying at Kidani Village - you'll have to tell me how those rental point things work....

Jungle Cruise is corny no matter what time of day you ride it

Festival of the Lion King is an awesome show. You will kick yourself for not seeing it

Soarin' is amazing. You will love it. Even if you are afraid of heights. Really, it's amazing. If you can handle Rock N' Roller Coaster, you can handle Soarin'

Finally I found someone else who doesn't watch American Idol *HIGH FIVE*

Love your dorm decoration :thumbsup2

Hi! So nice to see people enjoying this PTR, it makes me feel like I'm not wasting my time writing it!

I see you're staying at the Poly, I'm so jealous of that! The point rental is really easy and cost effective; plus the guy I'm renting from has been very helpful and nice so far.

I'm sure Jungle Cruise will still be corny, but as I was really sick the last time I rode it  I hope maybe I'll enjoy it more this time!

I'm already kicking myself for not seeing FOTLK. All we got to do was Everest, Dinosaur, Primeval Whirl, and the Safari, so I'm definitely looking forward to exploring AK a little more.

I hope I like Soarin'. If it gets to be too much, I'll just close my eyes.

I don't watch much TV, especially not reality TV, but I do watch Dancing with the Stars. AI just isn't my thing.

Thanks! My roommate thought I was a little crazy. Her side was all neutrals and blues, but we complemented each other well. She transferred this semester and I'll miss her a lot.:sad1: Hopefully, I'll get somebody just as cool!

I'll start your PTR tomorrow, looking forward to it!

You're definitely not wasting your time. People are reading... even if they don't always post a "hello"

We can each live through our TR's upon our return so we won't feel so jealous of each other ;) I'm glad to hear that you've found a nice, helpful person for the point rental. I've heard a few horror stories....

I'm sure Jungle Cruise will still be corny, but as I was really sick the last time I rode it  I hope maybe I'll enjoy it more this time!

Sick? That's too bad. Nobody should be sick in Disney!

There sure is a lot to see and do. As long as you appreciate animals and nature stuff, you'll have fun! It's one of my fav parks :goodvibes

I hope I like Soarin'. If it gets to be too much, I'll just close my eyes.

That's the spirit!

We're all a bit crazy in our own way. Too bad she's transferred. Does that mean someone else will be moving in?

I'll start your PTR tomorrow, looking forward to it!

Thanks! Hope you enjoy it as much as I've enjoyed yours so far

Hello again everybody! I can't remember if I mentioned it before, but two of my friends are leaving January 11th to go do the college program. Ryan did this past spring as well; he worked at The Seas with Nemo & Friends (sometimes he even got to be Crush in Turtle Talk with Crush-how cool is that?). Anyway, they will both be working at Epcot this spring. Ryan will be working at Innoventions in the "Don't Waste It" Exhibit. Heather will be working at the Electric Umbrella. If you're down there and you see either of them, say "Hi". They're super awesome. They are there definitely until May 14th; Ryan is probably extending and Heather isn't sure yet. I told them they should so we can hang out while I'm there!

Also, I just was on Touringplans.com and they now have water park touring plans! If anyone tries these, let me know how they go!

Happy New Years Eve! Where has the year gone?

Last night several of my friends and I went to see "The Princess and the Frog". Such a cute movie! Great music, great story. My friend Ryan has decided he wants to take over Splash Mountain and remake it with this movie because he hates the "how do you do-fine how are you" song that's currently part of Splash. Then we all went out to eat and I didn't get home until about 1am!

Tonight, my plans aren't very exciting. Some of my friends are going downtown to watch the ball drop. My other friends and I are going to get together and have a Glee Marathon. It should be fun! I hope you all have a safe, fun New Years Eve!

YAY!! Wasn't the Princess and the Frog wonderful?!?! We LOVED it!!

Oooh--a Glee marathon! I LOVE that show! I bought the DVD on Tuesday and stayed up last night until 2:30 a.m. I watched 5 episodes and the Special Features!!

Woah it's been a while since I've updated! New Year's Eve was fun. My friends all had daquiris and such, but since I don't drink I had lots of sparkling grape juice and apple cider :) We watched three episodes of Glee. Then my other friends came over after they were done with the ball drop downtown. We played Catchphrase and chatted before I left.

Since my brother's birthday is the 5th, we celebrated on the 1st since he was home for the weekend. I took lots of pictures from that.

Ian's present from Grandma:

It turned out to be snack packs of cookies.

The Birthday Boy:

Mom got him a book, the Hannah Montana backstage pass. It's pretty cool and he LOVES it!

The weekend was pretty uneventful. Tuesday I had a dentist appointment. Not long before I had to leave I stubbed my baby toe really hard. It was bleeding and hurt so badly. As I was driving to the dentist it hurt so much I was nauseous. Then at the dentist I found out I have my first cavity:scared1: All in all, not a great day:sad:

I don't think I'm going to have a roommate this semester. My friends that are getting new roommates have already heard from them. The letters to the new people were mailed out by Friday and I haven't been contacted by anybody. I e-mailed reslife Friday and I'm waiting to hear back from them for sure. At first I was a little disappointed because my room is sort of lonely (I was alone for the last 5 days after my roommate left). However, if I end up with one now I'll be disappointed because I've gotten used to the idea of my own room and no one can replace Emily! My friend Jill across the hall is getting a new roommate, Corinne, and she seems pretty cool, so hopefully we'll find a new friend in her!

This semester I will be taking:
-Human Bio
-Human Bio Lab
-Anatomy & Physiology of Speech Mechanisms
-Language Acquisition
-History of Dance Since 1900
(Forgive me if I've posted that before).

Yesterday my Lang Ack professor sent out an e-mail saying the syllabus and all the handouts & such we would need for the semester are posted online. I downloaded everything to my computer and all in all there's 71 sheets to print out! :faint: I'll wait until I go back on Saturday and use the school printers and my free $30 to print it all. Plus the syllabus says:

1-19 Introduction (Speech, Language & Communication) Assignment: Chapter 1; Video 1. I'm assuming this means we need to have chapter 1 read before class which is fine. However, it also says that the videos won't be available until the 3rd week of the semester. Wish me luck on that one!

I've also been playing around with ADR times, RideMax and Unofficial Guide. I've put the attractions from UG touring plans into RideMax in the order I want them (very tedious) and have been attempting to figure out how much we can get done in certain time frames. I know they aren't exact because I can't use our actual dates yet, but it's a good rough estimate. Can anybody give me estimated times for how long meals take?

Right now the ADRs look like this (and I probably won't change them again)

Tuesday 5-19: Crystal Palace 8:05am (MK Day)
Wednesday 5-20: Ohana 5:00pm (BB AM)
Thursday 5-21: Sci-Fi Dine In 3:05pm (DHS Day)
Friday 5-22: Chef Mickey's 10:00am (DTD Day)
Saturday 5-23: Le Cellier 12:55pm (Epcot Day)
Monday 5-24: Liberty Tree Tavern 11:30am (MK Day)
Tuesday 5-25: 50's Prime Time 11:05am (DHS Day)
Wednesday 5-26: Boma 9:50am (TL PM)
Thursday 5-27: Akershus 8:00am (Epcot Day)

I moved Sci-Fi from Dinner to Lunch because I like the lunch menu better. I moved Le Cellier back an hour so we could finish the FW part of the plan before lunch and not have to backtrack.

That's all for now folks!

Your brother's birthday is only 5 days before mine. Yay for January birthdays :cool1:

I'm shocked that you don't plan on changing your ADRs anymore. I can hardly resist rethinking my choices at the two week mark. Love the choices you've made though! I should really try Boma....

The only problem with his birthday is that it's 10 days after Christmas, which kind of makes gifts a bit difficult.

Haha, I've known where I want to eat for years. When I was planning for the longer trip I was also planning Whispering Canyon Cafe, 1900 Park Fare, and Cape May Cafe. I did have a CMC breakfast ADR, but when I scheduled the flights, there wasn't any room for it, as there really isn't time for breakfast on the last day. I took a poll here on the DIS asking which 2 restaurants people would pick out of: Ohana dinner, Boma breakfast, WCC Breakfast, CMC breakfast, and CMC dinner. Ohana and Boma got the most votes (60 & 41), followed by CMC breakfast (26). I disregarded 1900 Park Fare simply because of the price. I debated adding dinner at Sanaa on the first night, but the menu is too exotic for my tastes! And I really only keep playing with times, so I'm satisfied for right now. It's pretty amusing to see my original ADR confirmation #s in the 300s go to the 400s with the new ones!

Tell me about it... my family usually holds off on giving me some of my x-mas gifts and saves them for my b-day, which is so annoying!

I debated adding dinner at Sanaa on the first night, but the menu is too exotic for my tastes!

Oh you should try Sanaa! You don't know what you're missing! I guess if you haven't tried Indian food, than it might seem a bit exotic. But it's so yummy....

It's pretty amusing to see my original ADR confirmation #s in the 300s go to the 400s with the new ones!

I know! I noticed that too! It's weird having the 400s now. Goes to show how many ADRs are being made!
