Adoption and cruising ?

We adopted one our daughters from Russia and took her on a cruise with in the first year. There was no problem getting her a passport.

We were given a birth certificate (in Russian with our names on it and translated into English on separate piece of paper) when we picked her up from the orphanage so we didn't have to wait for that.

She had all her other paperwork sent to us within a month of arriving home.

We have. Once she was our foster daughter and we only had her for about 6 weeks. There were some trying times due to the history. Next, she was still our FD however; had been with us for quite a while. We needed oodles of paperwork for this....court order signed by judge since she was a ward of the state.

In September, she will go again however; now she is adopted (by us).

Congratulations on your adoption. We have adopted two internationally, one daughter at 14 months from Russia and she was on her first DCL cruise at 16 months, just kep her with us at all times. Second daughter 7 years old with specail needs (sensory issues/FAS) went on her first cruise within the first year and just had to take things a little slower with her but the Counselors in the kids clubs are great with her. You will always remember their first experience as this is nothing like they have ever seen. I would book for December and if it doesn't look like she is ready, then cancel and go on the next one. Enjoy your new daughter.
