ABC buys two Portland radio stations
ABC Inc. is acquiring Portland radio stations KPBC-AM 1640 and KKSL-AM 1290 from Crawford Broadcasting Co.
ABC Radio plans to broadcast Radio Disney, a live 24-hour radio network designed for children, on KPBC. KKSL will continue to be operated by Crawford under a marketing agreement with ABC Radio, which has more than 4,600 affiliate stations nationwide.
Denver-based Crawford is a pioneer in Christian broadcasting, operating 31 AM and FM radio stations in 13 markets.
With the addition of Portland, Radio Disney will be in 52 markets, including 18 of the 20 largest metropolitan areas. The transaction is subject to approval by the Federal Communications Commission.
