A Whole New World, A Whole New Life! -- A Jan-Feb-Mar 2015 TR -- *COMPLETED* 9/29

I love The Jamitors!! Can't wait for my kids to see and dance to them!!!

After watching the Lumberjacks perform, we headed to the UK!
232323232%7Ffp83232%3Euqcshlukaxroqdfv379%3A%3A%3Enu%3D539%3A%3E23%3B%3E256%3EWSNRCG%3D35%3A297%3C5%3B8347nu0mrj

We hung out and looked in the shops for a while. Tigger and Pooh greet in the UK, so we decided to meet them! We only waited about 10 minutes. When we got in we saw that Tigger was by himself today, but we didn't mind! Tigger is one of my favorite characters, and meeting him was so much fun! He had us pose with him.
232323232%7Ffp83232%3Euqcshlukaxroqdfv3%3C3%3A4%3Enu%3D539%3A%3E23%3B%3E256%3EWSNRCG%3D35%3A297%3C5%3B9347nu0mrj

The boys didn't want to be in the picture. After we met Tigger, Bethany wanted to meet Mary Poppins. She wasn't out at the moment, but she was coming in about 10 minutes. So we hung around, and we were about the second or third family in line. Mary was absolutely lovely! She talked to us about how supercalifragilisticexpialidocious is a great thing to say when you don't know what to say. But saying it backwards is going bit too far.
232323232%7Ffp83232%3Euqcshlukaxroqdfv35934%3Enu%3D539%3A%3E23%3B%3E256%3EWSNRCG%3D35%3A29%3A46%3B%3B347nu0mrj

After our visit with Mary we moved on to France!
232323232%7Ffp83232%3Euqcshlukaxroqdfv33278%3Enu%3D539%3A%3E23%3B%3E256%3EWSNRCG%3D35%3A29%3A46%3C3347nu0mrj

We were just in time to see the show with the waiter. I don't remember his name or what the show is called, but it's a great show! He stacks and climbs on a bunch of chairs, and it's very impressive!
232323232%7Ffp83232%3Euqcshlukaxroqdfv353%3B7%3Enu%3D539%3A%3E23%3B%3E256%3EWSNRCG%3D35%3A29%3A4738347nu0mrj

After watching the show, we got a photo in front of the fountain. France is such a beautiful country!
232323232%7Ffp83232%3Euqcshlukaxroqdfv39%3B%3C8%3Enu%3D539%3A%3E23%3B%3E256%3EWSNRCG%3D35%3A2%3C695%3C2347nu0mrj

We walked around France and checked out the shops before moving on to Morocco. We didn't spend a lot of time there, but we did go into a couple of the shops. We passed through Japan briefly, as well. Next we came to America! We stopped here so that Travis and I could get the American Dream. The American Dream is a mix of blue and red slush with vanilla ice cream. It is super delicious!
232323232%7Ffp83232%3Euqcshlukaxroqdfv39475%3Enu%3D539%3A%3E23%3B%3E256%3EWSNRCG%3D35%3A29%3A4747347nu0mrj

We didn't spend a whole lot of time in America before we were on to the next country, Italy! Bethany wanted to see the flag spinners perform, so we hung out in the shops until the next show started. It was pretty much the same show as the last time, except with a couple of different guys. Bethany enjoyed the show, and after it was over we moved on to Germany. We went into the caramel shop to drool over all the delicious treats, but we didn't buy anything. We checked out the Christmas store and the crystal store, too. I love the crystal store because everything is just so beautiful and sparkly! We came to China next, where we were going to watch the acrobats perform! We browsed the shops a bit before finding a spot to watch the show. We were about 20 minutes early, so we got to sit right in front of the rope. The acrobats were amazing, as usual. They are seriously SO talented, and if you've never seen them you totally should!

It was about 5:30 at this point, so we decided to eat dinner. Mom, Bethany, and I stayed to eat in China while the boys went to Mexico to get something. We girls all got the orange chicken, and I think the boys got nachos.
232323232%7Ffp83232%3Euqcshlukaxroqdfv33%3B57%3Enu%3D539%3A%3E23%3B%3E256%3EWSNRCG%3D35%3A29%3A663%3A347nu0mrj

Everyone enjoyed their food, and after we were done eating we met up in Norway.
232323232%7Ffp83232%3Euqcshlukaxroqdfv38378%3Enu%3D539%3A%3E23%3B%3E256%3EWSNRCG%3D35%3A472%3C%3B6%3B347nu0mrj

We hung out there for a while and looked around the shops. Mom loves the perfume they have in the store, but she never buys any because it's pretty expensive. So, every time we go to Norway she gets one of the little sample cards so she can smell like Norway the rest of the day. When we came out of the store, the sun was setting and it was absolutely beautiful!
232323232%7Ffp83232%3Euqcshlukaxroqdfv35952%3Enu%3D539%3A%3E23%3B%3E256%3EWSNRCG%3D35%3A29%3A6646347nu0mrj

We were headed to Mexico now. We went inside and looked around for a while, then we rode the Three Caballeros ride. We looked around a bit more before heading out of Mexico and back into Future World!
232323232%7Ffp83232%3Euqcshlukaxroqdfv3%3B348%3Enu%3D539%3A%3E23%3B%3E256%3EWSNRCG%3D35%3A2%3C695%3C5347nu0mrj

We went over to The Seas to ride the little ride and check out the fish. We got to see a couple of sharks, a lot of sting rays, and the sea turtles!
232323232%7Ffp83232%3Euqcshlukaxroqdfv38%3B9%3B%3Enu%3D539%3A%3E23%3B%3E256%3EWSNRCG%3D35%3A29%3A6649347nu0mrj

When we were done hanging out with our fishy friends, we went over to check the test Track wait time. It was a bit too long for us, so we decided to just go single rider. We waited about 15 minutes in that line. After we all got off, we headed back into the countries for Illuminations! We staked out a pretty good spot in between Mexico and Norway. We had about 30-45 minutes to wait, so we got comfortable. While we were waiting, Travis went to get ice cream, and Mom and Bethany went to get a couple of orders of churritos for us to share. If you don't know what churritos are, they're little circular churros that you can get at the Mexican quick service restaurant. One order comes with six churritos and caramel dipping sauce and they are SO good. By the time we finished our treats, it was almost time for the fireworks! We had a really nice view, and the show was spectacular as always.

After Illuminations, we started making our way out of the park. The crowds weren't horrible, so we stopped to ride Spaceship Earth on our way out.
232323232%7Ffp83232%3Euqcshlukaxroqdfv35249%3Enu%3D539%3A%3E23%3B%3E256%3EWSNRCG%3D35%3A29%3A665%3A347nu0mrj

After that we headed out to our bus stop. It didn't take too long for a bus to come, and we were on our way. After a stop at the Lodge we made it back to the Fort and we didn't have to wait long for our bus home. Everyone was pretty tired, so we got ready and went to bed right away. We were headed to Hollywood tomorrow!

I'm absolutely loving reading your TR. It has been a dream of mine to take my kids out of school and do exactly what you are doing. I would love to hear how your mom feels about having to manage a lot of the meal planning and prep at the campsite and how she enjoys campground living for such a long time. Also, your dad sounds a lot handier than my hubby so I worry that when stuff breaks down he would have no clue what to do...but I guess it is all a learning experience. Also, I'm so jealous that you are getting to spend so much time at Disney...and really get to see all the little details and stuff that you never have time for when you go for just a few days or short trip! I look forward to following along for the rest!

Oh my gosh!!!! Three months at Disneyworld? ??? Are you kidding me? A once in a lifetime opportunity! I am adoring your trip report.

And that caramel shop in Germany is my favorite place for sweets! So happy to have found you!

Today we were off to Hollywood! The park opened at 8:00, so we were up early to get ready. After we packed all our gear for the day and everyone was ready, we headed to the bus stop. We didn't have to wait too long for buses, and we arrived at the park around 7:15-7:30. We were practically at the front of the line, and our plan was to head straight for Toy Story Mania. We weren't able to get TSM FastPasses for this day, so we knew getting there early was our only chance. Before long they were opening up the gates and the mad dash began! I remember before TSM was built when the park opened and everyone would race to Sunset Boulevard to ride Tower of Terror and Rock N' Rollercoaster. But now, you pass by those rides and the street is practically empty. I got a picture of the deconstruction of the hat as we passed by. At this point they had hardly just begun.
232323232%7Ffp83232%3Euqcshlukaxroqdfv37858%3Enu%3D539%3A%3E23%3B%3E256%3EWSNRCG%3D35%3A47574%3A7347nu0mrj

We got to toy Story fairly quickly, and we knew that it would be a 20 minute wait at most, so we were okay with that. But while we were waiting, we noticed that the line was backing up way outside where is normally does, and that we weren't moving at all. And that's when they announced that the ride was having technical difficulties and would not be opening until later that day. We were pretty disappointed, but there was nothing we could do. We were just hoping that we wouldn't have to wait too long later that day to ride it. We had to find something else to do, but we didn't want to go too far in case it opened back up again, so we decided to go see the Muppets. There was practically no one there, and we waited about 5-10 minutes for the next show to start. After the show, Sam checked on the app to see if TSM was running, but it was still closed. So, we went to ride Star Tours. Bethany had never been on the new version, and she really liked it! We only had to wait about 10 minutes. Sam checked the app again, and Toy Story was open! We made our way over there as fast as we could.
232323232%7Ffp83232%3Euqcshlukaxroqdfv3%3B864%3Enu%3D539%3A%3E23%3B%3E256%3EWSNRCG%3D35%3A4859698347nu0mrj

When we got there the sign said that the line was already 90 minutes, but this was Bethany's only chance to ride, so we got in line. We usually never wait more than 30-45 minutes for a ride, so this was just totally crazy for us. We ended up having to wait just under 2 hours, and it totally solidified why we never wait that long. We were miserable. It was super stuffy inside, people were being crazy loud, and there were a bunch of little kids that kept yelling and climbing on the hand rails. We finally got to ride, though, and Bethany was very grateful that we waited with her. It was about 11:45 at this point, and we had a lunch reservation at 50's Prime Time at 12:30. We didn't want to get there too early, so we walked through One Man's Dream before heading over.
232323232%7Ffp83232%3Euqcshlukaxroqdfv33%3A77%3Enu%3D539%3A%3E23%3B%3E256%3EWSNRCG%3D35%3A48%3A5%3A62347nu0mrj

We go to the restaurant around 12:15 and checked in for our reservation.
232323232%7Ffp83232%3Euqcshlukaxroqdfv3%3A282%3Enu%3D539%3A%3E23%3B%3E256%3EWSNRCG%3D35%3A48%3A5%3A63347nu0mrj

We only had to wait about 5 minutes to be seated, so that was nice. We were seated in a quite back corner, which we didn't mind at all. I don't remember our waitress' name, but she was a very nice young girl. We've been to 50's before, and we've had some really fun experiences there. This time was pretty average, though, and there wasn't a lot of interaction. The food was still amazing, though! We ordered and shared 3 of the sampler dishes and 2 salads, which was enough for everybody.
232323232%7Ffp83232%3Euqcshlukaxroqdfv369%3C3%3Enu%3D539%3A%3E23%3B%3E256%3EWSNRCG%3D35%3A48596%3A3347nu0mrj

Everyone enjoyed what they ate, and we left full and happy! After lunch we decided to do the Great Movie Ride, so we headed over there. The line seemed longer than usual, but we ended up only waiting about 30 minutes. The crowd level was pretty high on this day. It was a holiday weekend and the weather wasn't too bad, so that's probably why.
We headed to the Animation Courtyard next. We had a FastPass for the Voyage of the Little Mermaid, so we used that. We waited about 15 minutes for the next show to start. It's a super cute show, but it's also very old. We still enjoy it, though. We went into the animation building after that. We wanted to do the drawing class, but the line was super long, so we passed. We just hung out in there for a while and rested. It was almost 2:30 now, and we wanted to see the 3:00 Beauty and the Beast show, so we headed over there. We got there around 2:40, and we got pretty good seats. We were on the right side near the top. Beauty and the Beast is my absolute favorite show in Disney. I love the costumes, the music, the dancing, everything! Nobody else really loves it like I do, especially the boys, but Bethany was glad she got to see it.

After the show, we made our way over to catch the 4:00 Indiana Jones show. We got there about 15 minutes early, and the theater was packed. We found some seats all the way over to the right side around 5 rows back. They weren't great seats, but they weren't horrible. After the show we made our way back over near the front of the park. We looked around the shops for a bit, then we found a place to sit and eat our dinner. We found a table in the back corner near Rosie's restaurant to eat our sandwiches. After we ate, our FP's were good for Rock N' Rollercoaster. Everyone rode except for me and Dad. We sat out in the dump shop to wait for them.
232323232%7Ffp83232%3Euqcshlukaxroqdfv34532%3Enu%3D539%3A%3E23%3B%3E256%3EWSNRCG%3D35%3A48596%3A%3B347nu0mrj

After they rode our FP's for Tower of Terror were ready. Travis, Bethany, and I sat out this time, and we just hung out in the stores. Everyone had a fun time on the rides! ToT and RNR are 2 of Mom's absolute favorite rides, so she was glad that we got to ride both today.
232323232%7Ffp83232%3Euqcshlukaxroqdfv38954%3Enu%3D539%3A%3E23%3B%3E256%3EWSNRCG%3D35%3A48596%3B5347nu0mrj

After we were done on those rides, we decided to head out. It was a little too cold to sit and watch Fantasmic, and Bethany didn't really care about seeing it. So, we made our way to the bus stop. We didn't wait too long for our bus, and we made it back just fine. We caught our internal bus and made it home! We were all tired from the long days, so we just relaxed for a while before getting ready for bed. We went to bed around 9:00 with plans of going to Animal Kingdom tomorrow!

You got some really nice pictures!
Thank you!

A fun day at Epcot:)

Thank you so much! So far everyone is loving the campground lifestyle. Mom is a really outdoors-y person, so she loves it, and as far as meals go, it's not too different from back at home. We just do a lot more stuff on the grill. We are so thrilled to get to spend so much time here, and we've been trying to see and do as much as possible! I'm so glad your enjoying reading about our adventures!

Oh my gosh!!!! Three months at Disneyworld? ??? Are you kidding me? A once in a lifetime opportunity! I am adoring your trip report.

Thank you so much! It really is a once in a lifetime experience! We know that this will probably never happen again, so we're trying to make the most of every day!

Nobody really wanted to get up this morning, but we dragged ourselves out of bed. We had to get ready to go to Animal Kingdom! Dad was feeling a little under the weather, so he stayed home today. The rest of us were ready to go around 7:00, because the park opened at 8:00. The sunset this morning was gorgeous.
232323232%7Ffp83232%3Euqcshlukaxroqdfv3%3B295%3Enu%3D539%3A%3E23%3B%3E256%3EWSNRCG%3D35%3A4%3A75877347nu0mrj

A bus came within 10 minutes, and we were on our way. We got there about 20 minutes early, but only had to wait about 10 before they let us in. There were still walls up everywhere.
232323232%7Ffp83232%3Euqcshlukaxroqdfv3%3A%3B52%3Enu%3D539%3A%3E23%3B%3E256%3EWSNRCG%3D35%3A4%3A75878347nu0mrj

We were heading straight for Mt. Everest! Because it wasn't quite 8:00 yet they made us wait outside for a few minutes before they opened up the line. We practically walked on. Bethany had only been on Everest once, but she loved it! She screams like crazy, but it's a lot of fun. She screamed so much that when the ride was over the lady in front of her turned around and asked if she needed an aspirin! For some reason none of the ride photos were working this morning. All the screens were just black, so Bethany didn't get a picture. She was a little disappointed, but it was okay.
We headed over towards Dinoland next! We walked right on to Primeval Whirl.
232323232%7Ffp83232%3Euqcshlukaxroqdfv36%3B%3B3%3Enu%3D539%3A%3E23%3B%3E256%3EWSNRCG%3D35%3A4%3A9%3B757347nu0mrj

The cars only seat 4, so we had to split up. Mom and Bethany went together and I went with the boys. There was still no line when we got off, so they let us go again! After our second time we got off and headed over to ride Dinosaur. It was only about a 5 minute wait for that. After our trip back in time, we left Dinoland and started making our way toward Africa. We stopped for a picture on the way.
232323232%7Ffp83232%3Euqcshlukaxroqdfv3%3B85%3B%3Enu%3D539%3A%3E23%3B%3E256%3EWSNRCG%3D35%3A4%3A9%3B772347nu0mrj

We got to Africa and jumped in line for the safari. We only had to wait about 15 minutes. It was just after 9:00 at this point, so the crowds still weren't bad. It's too bad that it was so early, though, because it was also cold, so we didn't see a lot of the animals. We did get to see some of them, though!

After our safari we walked on the Pangani trial to see the gorillas! Mom absolutely adores the gorillas. She would sit and watch them all day if she could, especially now that there are babies.
232323232%7Ffp83232%3Euqcshlukaxroqdfv334%3A2%3Enu%3D539%3A%3E23%3B%3E256%3EWSNRCG%3D35%3A4%3A9%3B762347nu0mrj

We also saw the meerkats running around and playing.

After we finished walking the path, we headed over to Asia to walk the Maharajah Jungle Trek. We got to see the tigers!

We also saw most of the other animals on the trail, including the bats.

It was about 10:30 at this point, and we wanted to see the 11:00 Finding Nemo show, so we headed in that direction. We got to the theater with about 15-20 minutes to spare.

We had pretty good seats! Finding Nemo the Musical is such a fun show, and the performers are just amazing.

After the show, we decided now would be a good time to have lunch. Sam, Bethany, and I got honey chicken from the Yak and Yeti counter service window and brought it over to Pizzafari where Mom and Travis were eating.

The food was all good. When we finished eating it was about 12:30, and we wanted to see the 1:00 Festival of the Lion King, so we made our way to Africa! We got there and had to wait about 15 minutes to be let into the theater. While we were waiting, we discussed what our plan was for the rest of the day. We decided that after the show, we would go catch the next Flights of Wonder show, then Sam and Travis would head back home to watch the football game and the rest of us would go to Magic Kingdom. After we got that figured out, we got into the theater. We got pretty good seats up near the top.

Everyone enjoyed the show, and after it was over we headed back in the direction of Asia to catch the 2:00 Flights of Wonder show. We got pretty good seats on the right side near the back. The show is super funny, and the birds are just amazing. When the show was over, the trainer asked some people to stick around to watch a new bird practice his act. He said that it's important for the birds to get comfortable around people when they do their thing. So, we stuck around to watch a cute little birdy practice his routine!

After the show, we started making our way out of the park. We stopped to get some ice cream to eat on our way out. They have really good soft serve cones in Asia that are only $3.99. Sam and Travis headed right for the bus stop to go home, but Mom, Bethany, and I stopped to see It's Tough to be a Bug before we left. We had to wait about 20 minutes, but it wasn't too bad. At the end of the show when it feels like bugs are crawling underneath you, there was this one lady who totally freaked out. She screamed and jumped about a mile out of her seat! It was pretty funny. After the show we exited the park and got to the Magic Kingdom bus stop. We didn't have to wait too long for our bus to come! It was about 3:00 at this point.

When you all bring sandwiches to the parks, do you have little cooler bags to keep them chilled?
No, because we usually aren't carrying them around for more than a few hours, we just pack them in our backpack. Also, it really hasn't been too hot, so that's not an issue.

Yeah I was surprised at the sandwich thing too - I didn't think they let you do that. Looks like a fun day at AK. I'd love have time to do all the shows...there's never enough time in just one day to do that. Too bad not that many animals were out but I'm sure you will see them again!

Yeah, we've taken sandwiches into the parks and through bag checks for years and it's never been a problem. We see quite a few other people with their own food, too. It does take a bit of planning to be able to see all of the shows, and sometimes it means sacrificing other things, but it is possible! Yes, we've definitely had opportunity to see plenty of the animals!

Loving your report so far. I stayed at Fort Wilderness 25 years ago with my husband and two boys in a motor home and we did have a blast. I try to go annually but have not camped since then. I look forward to your adventure with great anticipation.

Cheers,

Good timing for the parade! I loved it! The flat breads look great and I have heard that counter service. I plan to try it in October. Your pictures are wonderful.

You really packed everything on that day! We usually bring sandwiches into the parks too. It saves a. Inch of money. :)

So, we ended up getting to the Magic Kingdom around 3:20! I don't have very many pictures from this evening because Sam took the camera home with him, but I'll try to remember what we did as best as I can! It was fairly crowded when we got there, but not too bad. The first thing Bethany wanted to do was get more Sorcerers of the Magic Kingdom cards, so we went into the fire station to get some! There was a bit of a line, so it was about 15-20 minutes before we got our cards and were on our way. We got the portals on Main Street, which was nice because we were already right there. There were a few other groups doing the Main Street portals, so it took us about 30 minutes to complete them all. The game is a lot of fun, and it's something nice to do if you don't feel like standing in line for a ride.
After we completed our portals, we headed towards Fantasyland. We rode Pooh Bear first, which had about a 25 minute wait, then we saw the Philharmagic again. The Philharmagic had more of a line than we've seen in a while, and it took about 20-30 minutes. After the show it was a little after 5:00, so we started thinking about dinner. We headed in the direction of Frontierland and decided to stop in Pecos Bills to find a table. We found a quite table where we ate our sandwiches and rested for a bit. Because it was still fairly early, the restaurant wasn't crowded, and we had a nice time.
After dinner we decided to head over to Adventureland! We rode Pirates first, which had about a 30 minute wait. After that Bethany really wanted to get a Dole Whip, even though it was pretty cold outside. The good thing about that, though, is that there wasn't much of a line! So, she got herself a Dole Whip, and she even shared some with me and Mom. After we finished our ice cream, we decided to do the Jungle Cruise! We waited about 30-45 minutes, but it wasn't too bad. We got on our boat, and we had one of the funniest drivers we've ever had! He told most of the same jokes that they always do, but he just had a really goofy personality that made everything funnier. Also we were way over-tired, which probably made things seem funnier, too.
After our cruise, we headed back through Frontierland and into Liberty Square. We got in line for Haunted Mansion, which was about a 30 minute wait. The 3 of us squished into 1 doom buggy, which was a little tight, but it was fun. After that we still had quite a bit more time to kill before Wishes, so we just decided to do Hall of Presidents because it was right there. That was a nice rest, and afterwards we headed towards Fantasyland. We decided to ride It's a Small World because it didn't have too long of a line. We waited about 15-20 minutes before boarding the happiest cruise to ever set sail. We did the
Carousel next which was also about a 15-20 minute wait.
Bethany wanted to see Celebrate the Magic and Wishes, so at this point we started making our way towards Main Street. We got a pretty good spot in the center near the back of the hub. We only had to wait about 15-20 minutes before Celebrate the Magic started. Bethany had never seen it before, and she thought it was so cool! Wishes started about 5 minutes after that, which we enjoyed seeing a lot. When it was over, we headed over to the Ice Cream Parlor to get some ice cream! It really wasn't too crowded in there even though the fireworks had just ended. We just got one of the Plaza Ice Cream Sundaes to share because it was late and we weren't very hungry. The sundaes there are super good, and definitely enough to share for 2 people. We found a bench to sit and eat our treat, which was very good. After we were done, we decided to head into Tomorrowland. We jumped in line for Buzz, which was only about a 20 minute wait. After that it was around 11:00-11:30, and we were pretty much done. Bethany had done everything that she really wanted to, so we started making our way out of the park. We stopped for a picture on the way.

We walked through the Emporium on our way out, then headed out to the boat dock. A boat was there within 10 minutes, and we were on our way home. We got back to the Fort and walked home to the RV. It was late, so we pretty much just went right to bed. The boys were happy because we had won the football game, and they were already in bed. This had been another amazing day, but we were a little sad because Bethany was leaving tomorrow. We had plans to go to Downtown Disney in the afternoon before she had to be back to catch her Magical Express bus!

Thank you very much! I'm sure quite a few things have changed in the past 25 years! Hopefully you'll be able to go back and camp again someday.

Yes, it was! The flat breads are definitely very good, and a nice change from traditional "Disney" pizza.

Yes, we definitely did! Bringing sandwiches is definitely a money saver!

What a great Girls' Night Out! Which two of you shared the sundae? I like your castle picture you got on the way out.
