A Whirlwind of Eats and Treats!: April 2015 Dining Report (w/ F&G)- COMPLETED

I always use this mantra on vacation! :rotfl2:
High-five! :D

First thing I noticed about this was the blueberry hidden Mickey. :goodvibes
Me too! So cute! :cutie:

My bacon/maple-loving child would go NUTS for this!
The maple frosting was AMAZING!!! :goodvibes

The fish and chips have me tempted to lick my computer screen........ :rolleyes1
I advise against this course of action. I've done it, and it's nowhere near as tasty as you'd hope.

Breakfast

I've been dying to try breakfast here for years, but I love their dinner, so I always end up going that way instead. This quick trip was the perfect opportunity to change that up!

20150427_110440-1.jpg

The meal starts with yummy sweet pull-apart bread, and the fruit was cantelope, honeydew, pineapple, and raspberries. I only ate the pineapple and raspberries, and they were tasty. (The only melon I like is watermelon.) Also I pushed the maple syrup into the photo for some reason. I think I thought that it's little serving pitcher was cute!

20150427_110455-1.jpg

Dat yummy bread. Om nom nom.

20150427_110646-1.jpg

That pineapple-orange-whatever-else juice that they serve. So good. I think I drank a gallon of it!

20150427_111115-1.jpg

The main event!!! Clockwise from top: Mickey waffle, buttermilk biscuit, sausage link, potatoes, scrambled eggs, and bacon. And I ate most of it! The potatoes were okay, and I think I ate half the biscuit. The rest was devoured, though! In fact...

20150427_112403-1.jpg

...I put in a reorder on the bacon, sausage, and waffles! The bacon was good and floppy, as bacon should be. (I hate overcooked bacon!) Loved it! Especially dipped in the maple syrup. The sausage links were probably some of the best I've ever had. Thicker than most places, and seasoned really well. And the waffles... Well, what hasn't already been said about Mickey waffles? AMAZING. (The Stitch waffle was okay. Not as good as the Mickey waffle, of course. Sorry, Stitch!)

I'm really glad I finally tried breakfast here! It was the perfect ending to my whirlwind of eats and treats on my quick weekend get-away! (And if you're looking for photos with the characters at this meal, you can find them over HERE on my full trip report!)

So that's it! Thank you for following my Dining Report, everybody! I'll have another one for you in December, chronicaling a full WEEK of Disney nomming with my aunt and uncle! Hope to see ya'll then! :cutie:

Great report! Yay for Ohana breakfast. I too love their dinner and my fiance isn't a big breakfast food person but eventually we need to try it. Those waffles though.. ahhhh mazing! The sausage looks good too, and the bacon - better quality than the buffets. Yum yum yum.

That breakfast looks the perfect way to end your trip, thanks for your wonderful reviews :)

Yummm bacon and Sausage. I wonder if they'd let you just order the parts you like...say...fruit - only raspberries and pineapple...for the main dish I'd say...no eggs, just gimme extra meat lol

Wonderful! I see so much about Ohana dinner, it's nice to see another meal! If we weren't reserved at Kona for the Tonga Toast (which I've been obsessing over since I heard about it), I'd definitely be putting this one on our list. Next trip!

Glad you had such a good time, and I can't wait to read about your next adventure :)

Another great report! was Ohana a buffet or family style? Everything looked so yummy, but I'm a sucker for a good fruit salad :-)
... And my list grows longer for places to try...

It was all so freakin' good, dude. Like, I can't even. Seriously. SO GOOD. :cloud9:

I loved our breakfast there! So much fun and such a yummy way to start the day!
I like to book a good breakfast for the departure morning to help eeeeeease my way out of the Disney bubble! ::MickeyMo

Mmmmmm, you had me at bacon. *heads to kitchen to inspect fridge* Just not quite as nice if I have to make it myself. Although, DH does look a bit like Stitch, lol!
Food ALWAYS tastes better when somebody else cooks it for you! ::yes::

It really was a wonderful way to wrap up my quick weekend trip! I loved it! :goodvibes

What a delightful way to end your trip. That breakfast looks soo good!!

I'm sure they would, but since it's all-you-care-to-eat, I always just let them bring everything the first round so that I can try it all. Then I just ask for more of whatever I liked best! :thumbsup2

Kona Cafe breakfast is still on my bucket list! I hope you love it! :goodvibes

Family Style! What you see in the photos is what they brought to my table. YUM! :cutie:

Snacks

Originally this was supposed to be my dinner. But then I found other dinner I wanted later. So. Whatever. VACATION! :D

Here are the many many many things that I put in my mouth as I circled World Showcase...

Jardin de Fiesta (Mexico)

20150426_162512-1.jpg

Flan de Queso con Chocolate Abuelita – Mexican Chocolate Custard with Whipped Cream and Cinnamon.

I looooooved this. I could eat this EVERY DAY. I intentionally took a couple bites for the photo, so you could see inside it. It has a perfect balance of flavors. Yummmm!

20150426_162439-1.jpg

I got a Blueberry Pomegranate Margarita to go with this. I was super looking forward to this beverage. Sadly, it was just WAY TOO STRONG for me. Like, seriously. It tastes like slightly watered-down tequila. Not even a hint of blueberry or pomegranate. It made me go cross-eyed... quite literally. I only drank maybe a 4th of it, and threw the rest away, which made my soul hurt.

Florida Fresh

20150426_164835-1.jpg

Florida Blueberry and Lemon Curd Tart

Sweet baby jesus, this was yummy. The lemon tart itself was yummy, but that blueberry compote on top was HEAVENLY. And my blueberries formed a hidden Mickey, too!

20150426_164838-1.jpg

Watermelon Passion Fruit Slush

Originally I had planned on getting the alcoholic version that was offered of this (with gin), but after my horrible margarita experience, I wasn't feeling it. So I got it without, and I ended up being VERY glad I did. This was incredibly light and freshing, and I very nearly went back for a second one, but I resisted!

The Smokehouse

20150426_170749-1.jpg

"Piggylcious" Bacon Cupcake.

This was super delicious! The whole LET'S PUT BACON IN EVERYTHING movement fascinates me to no end. But the maple frosting is what really shines here... it's was so tasty! My only complaint is that there were about 629% more pretzel pieces on top than I was expecting. I was only counting on maybe two or three. And not being a pretzel person, my plan was to just pick them off. Yeah, that ended up taking half my lifetime to do. But hey... Worth it!

Hanami (Japan)

20150426_171900-1.jpg

Teriyaki Curry Bun - Steamed bun filled with chicken, vegetables, curry and sweet sauce.

This was so freakin' good! I was actually surprised at how much I liked it. If anybody served these here locally, I'd be eating them ALL THE TIME. It's definitely good stuff!

20150426_171826-1.jpg

Frushi - Fresh pineapple, strawberries and melon, rolled with coconut rice, topped with raspberry sauce, sprinkled with toasted coconut and served with whipped cream on the side.

Okay, first, I just have to say this instantly made me so happy. Because it's PINK. :cutie: The photo I had seen prior to my trip, it was rolled in pastel green. It was cute. But this... PINK! Oh, and it was super tasty too. I wish there had been more whipped cream, though.

Taste of Marrakesh (Morocco)

20150426_173310-1.jpg

Harissa Chicken Kebab with Couscous Salad.

This was nice for something different. The chicken had a bit more kick than I was prepared for, but I'm just a great big giant wussy girl about anything even mildly spicey.

Fleur de Lys (France)

20150426_174523-1.jpg

Confit de Canard, Pommes de Terre Sarladaise – Pulled Duck Confit with Garlic and Parsley Potatoes.

Oh. My. God. As much as I loved the curry bun in Japan, eeked past it to win the day. It was so incredibly delicious, and the perfect gnosh for a gal like me. I think I fell asleep that night dreaming about it.

20150426_174818-1.jpg

Macaron Guimauve à la Fraise, a Strawberry Marshmallow Macaron.

This was really interesting! Macarons always have an interesting texture, but the filling of strawberry and marshmallow worked really well with them. (And... pink!)

Pineapple Promenade

20150426_180914-1.jpg

Pineapple Soft Serve with Parrot Bay Coconut Rum.

A Dole Whip for lushes? YES PLEASE. By this point, I was over my fear of liquor. Not to mention that (1) the liquor in it is one of my favorites anyhow, Parrot Bay Coconut Rum, and (2) I've had my eye on this baby even since I first read about it a year or so ago. So I just HAD to try it. Man, am I happy I did. It was totally my speed, and just so YUM YUM YUM!

THIS ALL LOOKS AMAZING!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Breakfast looks delicious! I think Ohana for dinner is on the list for the upcoming trip but breakfast seems like fun too!

I fully agree on the bacon deal. And I'm pretty sure anything shaped like Mickey tastes better!

(The Stitch waffle was okay. Not as good as the Mickey waffle, of course. Sorry, Stitch!)
Wow - I don't think we got Stitch waffles when we had breakfast there in 2013. I can't wait to see if we get some in July.

So that's it! Thank you for following my Dining Report, everybody! I'll have another one for you in December, chronicaling a full WEEK of Disney nomming with my aunt and uncle! Hope to see ya'll then! :cutie:
Thanks for the great dining review - it was so fun to read along.

Those fish and chips look amazing. I totally should have gotten that for the boys and left the F&G sampling to me and Jamie.

Wow, that breakfast looks delicious. :thumbsup2

I really enjoyed reading your dining reviews. What is it about Mickey waffles that just make them better than any other? They just are pretty much perfect!

They ARE the perfect food, aren't they? :D

Okay, you officially have me starving for everything you ate at the F&G food booths! We were there in March, but unfortunately, the day we had planned to do the booths, I was in bed, in between running to & from the bathroom, sick as a dog. I made my husband go to Epcot as planned. He resisted at first, felt bad, didn't want to leave me, etc etc, but I was like, "the last thing I need is you staring at me, asking me every five minutes if there's something you can do for me", so he went. I'm so sad I missed out on all that yummy food, but your report has given me hope for next year! Thanks for sharing. Love your writing style, short, descriptive, to the point, and great photos!

That pineapple-orange-whatever-else juice that they serve. So good. I think I drank a gallon of it!
Love this stuff. Heard you can get it with some rum. YUM!

The bacon was good and floppy, as bacon should be. (I hate overcooked bacon!)
You had me at bacon, but lost me at floppy ; ) I know I'm odd but I love burnt, crispy bacon. Something must be wrong with me

Thanks for letting me eat along with you. Looking forward to more in December.

Jumping in here (sorry, I feel pretty nosey, lol!) because that is some great news. I've never had the POG juice, but I'm thinking that would make a perfect tropical cocktail to enjoy while lounging at the Poly.
