A sprinkle od pixie dust...tell me about yours.

At our first time at Disney, my daughter (who was turning 5 on the trip) had a letter she wanted to give to Darth Vader. When we told the JTA CM about the letter, we assumed he'd just take it and promise to deliver it for us. Instead, he arranged a private M&G with Vader after my daughter's JTA session inside the Star Tours queue so that she could give it to him herself. So she got to meet Vader and have some pics taken with him, and they also gave us an autographed light saber. It was pretty special and we wrote a letter to guest relations raving about the awesome CM after we got home.

That is AWESOME! My Vader-loving DD4 would have fainted! What an awesome story!!!!! :cool1::thumbsup2:cheer2:

We've had a good amount of pixie dust in our two trips.

Our first day last time was just a few hours at MK. Our plan was to leave around 7pm. Around 4pm we got FPs for Peter Pan but we forgot to check the return time first. The FPs were for 8pm. We told the CM our mistake and asked if she could give them to someone else since we couldn't use them, and she said of course and gave us an immediate FP for the ride!

DS's joke was picked for the Laugh Floor and DD was picked to answer it!

Our last night at MK was the first time DD saw Tinkerbell fly. She was very emotional and couldn't stop crying. A CM stopped and talked with her for a long time and have her a little bottle of pixie dust!

We also had our first night at ASSp comped even though we said not to worry about it.

Just a few examples. I have found that for us, pixie dust happens when you are sweet and polite, when you least expect it, and sometimes when you really need it.

This thread made me tear up in a good way. I'm just so happy that there is still goodness and humanity in this world. :lovestruc

When I was 2 years old I got to drive the boat from the Contemporary to Discovery Island. It was probably not allowed, especially considering I was 2. The boat driver was hitting on my mom (she was single and 24 at the time), but I enjoyed the opportunity. :lmao: She still talks about it to this day.

When I was 9 or 10 I got to be the grand marshal of the mid-day parade at MK with my mom. I guess we rode with some famous news people, but I didn't know who they were.

When I was 7 or 8 I got be be involved in one of the shows (I want to say it was called superstar television). I was a baseball player, and my cousin got to be in it too, she was Ginger from Gilligans Island.

I've been in the Hoop Dee Doo ending twice. Once at Christmas as a Reindeer and once as the can can dancer.

In 2003 I won a trivia challenge (yep, no one can beat my Disney trivia knowledge ) on the sidewalk of Epcot. I still have the certificate I won.

In 1998 we arrived to a hotel room decorated and a big cake that said, "Happy Birthday Becky". The only problem was it was not my birthday, but my grandma made the reservations around the time of my birthday and when they asked if anyone was celebrating anything my grandma said that I was celebrating my birthday. :rotfl: It was kinda awesome though, and I enjoyed celebrating my birthday again three mos after it had occurred. :thumbsup2

Those are the ones I can think of right now. We've had a lot of other special magical moments over the years. Although, I've noticed the "pixie dust" doesn't seem to be sprinkled as often anymore. Or maybe I was just a super cute kid, and I am now a moderately attractive adult ;).

We took our 3 y.o. DS on his first trip a few months ago. His favorite movie is Peter Pan, so he was super excited to see Peter Pan hats for sale at The Toy Soldier in Epcot. He tried on a hat, and one of the CM's came up to him and challenged him to a duel. They chose their swords and shields and she really got into it, putting up a great fight. Another CM jumped in and eventually DS had them both backed into a corner and pleading for mercy. The first CM then gave him a "winner's sash" made of a giant strip of Mickey stickers. He was smiling from ear to ear and couldn't stop talking about "fighting the ladies" for about a month.

We went the week before Christmas in 2000 and it was colder than we thought it would be. It wasn't frigid but pretty chilly and a nice lady in a shop that we stopped by in Fantasyland was kind enough to give our boys a pair each of those hand-warmer thingies. Then in 2011, we were there over our youngest DS's 19th birthday and he proudly wore a birthday button that day. We didn't expect anything but he got a free brownie with his lunch in Hollywood Studios. Then this last year, we were going through Epcot heading toward Soarin'. Our boys were walking behind DH & I and they hollered for us to stop. A CM had given them a big ice cream cookie as they were walking by. That was a wonderful way to start the day and added a little magic to what so far had been a less than magical trip.

A little moment of pixie dust. My then 4 year old daughter walked up to Cruella d'Ville at one end of the DHS street where TSM is now. Before taking a photo Cruella said she would have to walk with her but had to do it with attitude. She then showed her how to hold her hand out and point her feet when she walked. They walked the whole length of the street together like that.

In reality I think that we just approached Cruella on her way to her signing spot but it was so sweet of her to incorporate my daughter into the walk.

Three great moments. First, dd adopted from China was dying to see Mulan. But we couldn't manage to catch her, so we went to China to ask, they said "she's right there!" She was on her way backstage for a break. Well my little daughter didn't know that and just screamed "Mulan!" With sheer joy. Well, she stopped, saw my daughter and greeted her so warmly, pulled her over to a bench and just talked with her. We were in the back corner of China pavilion, so it no one saw and it was just the two of them. I'm sure Mulan was probably exhausted, but she was so patient with my dd.... It just made the whole trip.

Second, ds was chosen as captain of the day at the land. They escorted our whole family to the front of the line and gave him a captain's hat. When we tried to return at the end of the ride, they told him to keep it. He loved it.

Finally, 2 years ago, we were chosen to turn on the lights at Osborne light show via a huge "wall switch" DH and I kept laughing.... We don't know if the switch was really live and kept imagining our then 2, 5 or 7 year old turning them on too soon. Was so very fun being chosen.

Ironically, the last was because I had complained. A CM in her hurry to clear TSM had separated my 5 year old from me which I thought was dangerous. They apologized profusely and asked could they do something for me. I said no, I really wasn't trying to get something, I truly thought it was hugely unsafe. They did finally offer to let the kids ride again with DH and that was hard to turn down. While I was completing the paperwork for my complaint, the mgr and CM kept asking me questions about what we had done/ not done. I didn't realize they were feeling me out for pixie dust. So sweet of them. We still talk about it. I should mention that I was never angry or rude, just very very concerned about the safety issue.

It was the first day of our 2nd trip.... my then BF and I had reservations at The Plaza, when we checked in, the hostess told us it would be a 5-10 min wait and apologized for that and handed us an instant FP for any ride we wanted that day :) I was perfectly fine waiting for 5-10 mins, but you know Disney, they try to be the best in customer service!

Disney does give amazing customer service, as im from the UK we dont expect much in customer service, at home if my local shopkeeper gives me a grin and a morning i consider it pixie dust lol

anyways onto WDW stories....

on my last trip for my honeymoon when we were checking in we were advised that simba has upgraded us to a suite room. and the cast member actually said "Simba said he could feel the love tonight between you two and wanted to offer a different room with a view" lol loved it so much! disney is amazing!!

when i was 12 i got pixie dusted, i was having a hard trip with my parents as my prosthetic leg didnt fit right and i was in my chair for the whole trip and unable to walk, didnt have my leg with me that trip it was so painful. we got some amazing pixie dust, a cast member saw my dad struggling with me coming out of a rest room area, my dad must have looked so tired, he came over and offered my dad and mum a cold beverage on the mouse, which they were delighted at, i was then told to come with him while dad and mom take a break lol, the cast member took me in the chair to the ice cream shop in tomorrowland (we were at those rest rooms just their) and told me to choose a sundae and then rejoined me with my family.

that memory stood out in my mind since i was a kid, i continue to go back to disney yearly. that 10 seconds of peace my parents got sat together on that bench with a drink was what my dad needed, i wasnt a small kid and my dad had to fireman lift me when i needed the restroom and to get in and out of rides, he must have been tired by the end of that trip.

i take my own magic with me to disney, i have little buisness like cards which i can write CM names on and sign it basically advising that they made my trip and to have a magical day, hopefully they can give these to their managers for their files.

my wife has also been known to pixie dust people herself lol with actual pixie glitter lol she gets talking to kids all the time and always shares her pixie dust with kids when she gets a chance lol

Pixie dust @ WDW is the best!!! We have had our fair share, especially when my daughter was younger.

We love to go after Thanksgiving & that is my DD's birthday so she is always wearing a birthday badge. We have them from every park (before they came out with the generic badge). She has been given desserts, toys from the strolling carts, even one of those huge balls you put the blow-up ball in!

The first of my favorite special times started when she was about 5, we ate at the GF and Fairy Godmother came over and sat with us and ate dessert with my DD. She must have stayed about 5 minutes talking about their favorite desserts. The next day we were in MK watching the parade. Along came a float with Fairy Godmother on it & she saw DD. She leans down from the float and calls her name & gave her a big wave with a kiss. DD still talks about how Fairy Godmother remembered her name.

The next unexpected dusting came when my DD, at this time 15, was trying to get a picture of the castle at night. She kept getting blurry pictures and was about ready to give up when one of the photographer's came over & gave her a much needed lesson in night photography. All in all she spent about 10 minutes with my DD who was then was able to get some very nice pictures and the tips have stuck with her.

I'm not sure what counts as pixie dust but we had a great few moments on our February trip!

We ate at Crystal Palace for my nieces first birthday and we were the "family of the day." We were seated first and the characters came to our table first. My niece got a card signed by Pooh and all his friends.

While walking through Fantasyland, a CM approached us and asked if we were planning on lunch at BOG. We said we were so she gave us "fastpasses" they were trying out that day for 11am. We got in with no wait!

In HS, my sister and I had picked up FP's for ToT but I misread the time and we missed our window. I didn't notice until I went to hand them to the CM and I was visibly upset. He gave us two with a return time in 20 minutes even though the FP's had "sold out" hours ago.

They're not big things, but they made the trip special!

I took DD #1 to Disney as her 5th birthday gift. The night we got there, I'd originally planned on just hanging out at the resort but we were so excited that I added a day to our tickets and we headed to EPCOT for a few hours. It was pretty hot and after dinner DD asked for some ice cream. We walked around World Showcase looking for a cart and ended up having to go all the way around. Once we got there, we were hot, tired and cranky! Then the CM handed DD her Mickey Bar and refused any money, saying "it was on Mickey...he wanted to wish you a happy birthday!" He'd seen DDs birthday button and wanted to do something special for her.

On our trip this past November, DD (who was almost 7) was in line with DH for her favorite ride, TofT. They had already gone through once and the CM that was working inside just kept telling DH how cute she was, she was her favorite person to come through, etc. She then handed him a handful of FastPass tickets for her and him to use. DD just kept riding and riding and riding.......and riding! LOL I don't like the ride AT ALL and DS was 15 months so I was just hanging out with him.

When DD went through after several times, the CM asked if she wanted to ride right after that ride was over and of course she said "YES!" So, once the ride was over, another CM told her to follow her and they took DD and DH through the back part of the ride (where it's all like offices, etc.) and put her right back on the ride without even having to stand in line. DD thought it was THE MOST MAGICAL thing EVER!!!!!

That CM was so sweet and truly made DD's trip!!!!!

On my kids first trip they were 4 and 2. The night we arrived we were staying for an evening EMH at MK. It was between midnight and one and we were stopping to get water at the counter service near the old Snow White ride. While my DH stood in line the kids and I went over to sit at some tables near the Dumbo ride. A cast member approached and asked if my kids would like to ride Dumbo with two of her special friends. Of course we said yes. We were wisked away to a door and out came Mickey and Minnie. They grabbed my kids hands and headed for Dumbo where they stood and line and played (at the exit) for the next ride. After the ride was done, Mickey and Minnie took my kids hands and skipped through Fantasyland, to an area near the castle where they lined up for meet and greet. What a way to boost my kids expectations for the rest of the trip (and their subsequent trips thereafter  )

In February 2013, DH and I went over to the Horse Barn at Fort Wilderness after our dinner at Trail's End. We were the only ones in there.

We were in the barn for about 20 min when 2 female CM's came out and started talking to us. We were asking questions about the horses and parades and especially the horse in the MNSSHP parade (headless horseman). I was telling the CM's how my husband and I just love that parade and how amazing the horse is who the HH rides on. We make the trip from Philly to Orlando every fall so we can go to MNSSHP!

One of the CM's excused herself and opened a horse stall from the far end of the barn where Guests are not allowed. Guess what she did???
She brought out the MNSSHP Headless Horseman Horse!! Walking towards us (with her) was the most beautiful black Percheron. She surprised us and actually brought him over to us. He was gorgeous. They let us take pictures with him and answered any question we had.

We were so lucky to have this experience and it meant SO much to us. :cool1:

My husband must have "the look" He's been chosen to be "that guy" on 3 out of 4 of our last trips at Monster's Inc. We don't travel with young children. Last time it was just us and our 18yo Son and the times before we were w two teenaged boys and the time before a teenaged girl and boy . In fact after the third time I kept joking we needed to buy a lottery ticket but it's kinda magical I guess.

BTW I have NO tips on how to be "that guy" We sat in different places. We go at different times. I pay no attention to the lamps. The first time he had on a matching shirt with us the other times he didn't. He is fun loving and plays along and makes crazy faces when he's on camera but he doesn't do anything to try to be picked and we don't know any CMs. I guess he just looks like a typical vacation "dad"and we are usually laughing when we go in but it's just because we are happy to be in the AC and sitting down or maybe it's just a weird coincidence.

I thought of another after reading all these great posts! I LOVE these posts and LOVE Disney so much!!!!! LOL

We went for almost two weeks last year, the week of Thanksgiving and the week after. It started out as a week trip starting the day before Thanksgiving and we just kept adding more days to the beginning of our trip. So, our first day we chose Epcot and didn't have any ADRs which is pretty unusual for us (we do DxDP and just LOVE the breaks you get from the longer meals). DH and DD's favorite restaurant (probably in all of Disney, not just Epcot) is Biergarten. So, we headed there right when they were opening to try to get a table and were in luck. But not only did we get a table, we got to be the family of the day. I'm sure not a big deal to most, but we were all given different bells (DH got the largest, then we all got ones a little smaller, even giving DS who was 15 months a tiny one) and we were told to ring the bells and then all the CMs opened the doors of the restaurant when we did. It was cute! And we got a certificate from there. DD thought it was a HUGE deal! She also got a picture with our waiter who told us how sad he was, that it was his last day working and he was going back to Germany the next day. We really enjoyed talking to him!!!

And, this isn't on the part of Disney but on the part of guests who were giving their own pixie dust. As we were going into MK, DD was dressed in one of her princess dresses and had the crazy pink BBB hair (lol I HATE that look, but she loved it and has outgrown the want for the sweet princess bun that BBB does). As we were walking, a man and woman stopped, said something like "Good evening, Princess" and then bowed to her at the same time. She was just BEAMING because of that!!!!!!! I wish I could tell them how special they made her evening!!!!!

I once did an all resorts, no parks trip solo in 2009. I stayed at POR and there was the greatest CM outside greeting everyone. It was the Saturday after Thanksgiving and the line to check-in wound around the lobby all the way to the entrance door. It was packed.

He struck up a conversation with me, seeing I was alone. We talked about my trip plans and my desire to get to a bunch of resorts. He said when I got done checking in, hunt him down and he would set me up with a wonderful ressie that would encompass a wonderful evening. He said to make sure I went "exploring" and to also visit AKL as well.

Well, he got me reservations at Sanaa at Kidani Village. I had the best evening ever. Wonderful food, first time visiting the resort. I walked out to the fire pit and watched the animals go by and listened to the story teller. I took the bus back over to AKL and walked around there and ended up over in the lounge for a nightcap and had the most wonderful bartender - I wish I could remember her name.

It was a wonderful evening thanks to that wonderful CM. One of my most memorable.
