Week 11 - $50

$283 total

I just opened my vacation savings account with $280 from the money challenge along with $220 I squirreled away from other sources (Ibotta rebates, ebates check, a childhood savings bond, Achievement reward, & selling stuff on eBay).

Hi Guys I haven't posted in a while I see you guys have been doing great, I caught the Flu and it nearly killed me have been out of work for 3 weeks so was not able to continue the challenge, i'm finally recouping and hopefully I will get back on track with what I have saved so far.

Oh no! I’m so sorry to hear you had the flu but am glad you are on the road to recovery. Hopefully you can get back on track soon.

I didn't put any extra funds away this last month, as we had an expected vehicle repair, and also did a trip to see the dd. But I'm back on track again for saving this month

So I haven't posted before, but have been following everyone's successes on this thread and thought that I would join in.

I started doing the reverse 52 week challenge in January. I am up to week #16 and have $712 in my stash and it is a FABULOUS feeling. I've managed to get a few weeks ahead as I've made some extra money here and there which has gotten added to the pile. And the funny thing is that I don't really even miss the money, which surprised me.

My thought right now is to continue per the challenge until the 26 week mark and then continue adding $26 per week for the rest of the year. That would give me over $1700 by the end of the year. The plan right now for the money is to do Disney half marathon (and potentially the 5K with a friend) in January, but if I go through with my plan, I should still have plenty left over for some other fun things as well.

For all you who have been participating, what are YOUR goals for the $$$?

Welcome!!! sounds like you are on the right track, I also started doing it in reverse but have checked off a couple of the lower weeks, I really have no plans for the money right now just want to really stick with it and save.

Congratulations on your savings achievement! I really like your idea of doubling back when you get to the halfway point.

I hope to use the money from this savings challenge, along with money I’m earning through Ibotta, eBay, ebates, etc., to help fund a family trip to Disney in June 2019. Without this money we should have enough for a low/mid range Disney trip. I’m hoping this money will bump us up to a moderate resort (or AKL!) with park hopper tickets

That’s awesome! I’ve never thought to do the plan in reverse. That’s a good idea. I printed out the numbers 1-52 and put them in a container. I (usually my boys) pull a number each week and that’s how much I transfer into my account for this challenge.

My plan is to actually pull the money out and take it on our Disney vacation in June to be used as extra spending money. Obviously the challenge won’t be over yet, but I’ll still continue with it. The money I save from June-the end of the year and the money from the beginning of next year will be used for next summer’s vacation.
