5 days! No kids! Where would you go?

I would definitely pick a cruise. If you are worried DH will get bored pick a shorter cruise out of Miami with no sea days. That will keep him busy!

Las Vegas! Columbus, OH resident here.

Southwest currently is booking through Feb 13th. Fares as low as $145 one way -non stop-Sunday through Wed and Friday, Feb 3th -5th and 7th-, $165 on Thurs, up to $221 the other 3 days that week.
The non stop leaves Columbus, OH at 4:40pm and arrives in Las Vegas at 6:15pm
Checking return flights-$145-$221
The non-stop leaves at 2:30, arrives in Columbus at 10:55pm, except the weekends, which is 12:15 arriving at 8:30pm.
For some reason, returning Sat, Feb 9th is showing $186, the other days $221 -I didn't check other days. Total round trip for two-$661.20 including taxes/fees etc.
fare calendar for Feb 2013 (shows dates later than Feb 13th, but site states they are only booking through Feb 13.

The weekend hotel rates can be expensive. If you had a players card, then call the phone# on the back for rates. Booking directly with the casino(even if you don't have a Players card) can allow you to cancel without penalty if something better comes along up to 72 hours earlier.
Package deals can be good if you have no casino offers. But check with the casino's calendars first. I booked a great airfare one time and ended up with hotel rates sky high (and I've only paid for hotels in Las Vegas 3 times in numerous trips).
Rate calendar for Ceasars Resorts(all from Flamingo and between to Paris and Ceasars in Las Vegas for February 2013) This is for everyone-Players rates will be lower. There are still no resort fees for this group.

I've heard that even if you haven't played in the last few years, to call for rates if you have a Players card. It can't hurt to ask.

I thought my husband would hate a cruise too because he would be bored. Boy was I wrong. He looooovvvved it.
Over the past few years we have been vacationing more and more without kids and really having a great time doing it. Our 'baby' will be 15 so we dont feel (that) guilty.
So far we went on two cruises and one all inclusive trip to Riviera Maya Mexico. The ships we sailed were Norweigen Pearl out of Miami
and RC Oasis. The Oasis has so much to do that we barely scrathed the surface.
Mexico was nice but the Oasis was our favorite.

How about Charleston, Los Angeles, San Diego, New Orleans, Nashville?

I wouldn't recommend Nashvlle in February. Last year we had daffodils blooming at the end of February, but usually the weather is pretty iffy until the end of March.

If you are cruising types you'll definitely get warmer weather and entertainment. we cruised with Royal Carribean and it had a lot of shore trips to do etc. it was romantic too.pixiedust:

I guess it would really depend on what your looking for out of this trip? Do you want a relaxing trip? Educational and Adult oriented? Action packed with tons of site seeing? Are you active outdoorsy type people?

I would choose a relaxing trip, I would choose Mexico. Go to Cabo and see the whales. Spend some time at Land's end. Spend the day sight seeing and relaxing and your nights at an upscale club.

You could potentially add a night in Vegas on the way back too.

No way I would pay over $300 pp for Vegas on SWA from CMH for a long weekend. Besides, the new casino opens in C-Bus on Oct. 8th so stay home to lose your money:lmao:.
I would hop a quick plane to anywhere warm under $300 and just enjoy the weather and relax. No major plans, just a nice hotel and enjoy each others company to catch up without kids.

I would not do Chicago in February or anywhere that requires you to fly through Chicago. I would also not do anything in the Northeast...unless you love cold weather :)

I'd vote for New Orleans, an all-inclusive in Mexico, or the Caribbean! I'd see where I could stretch my $2,000 the furthest and go there.

I personally wouldn't do a cruise for less than 7 days and one that had at least 4 stops. I did a 7 day cruise once and we had 4 stops with 3 days at sea and I thought the days at sea were boring. However, there is swimming and other boat activities so it can be fun. And if you've not done a cruise you should give it a shot.

I love the Pacific Northwest as well and would definitely recommend Vancouver Island if you had more time and were going in August!

We did Punta Cana and that was under $2000 for that same amount of time, very very relaxing and romantic.

Do either of you like skiing or snowboarding? You could always do a CO, UT, or VT ski trip. Of course if DH and I did that without DD11 she'd kill us! She loves skiing.

Wow! Thanks for all your suggestions! We're still exploring our options but I'm pretty sure we're going to do a 3-4 night cruise and 2 nights at Disney. I don't want to do a 7 day cruise as DH has never cruised and I want to make sure it's something he likes before I put him on a boat for a whole week. ;)

Here's hoping that it's warm down there in Feb! Atleast it will be warmer than Ohio! :thumbsup2
