23 Nights, 40 ADRS, too many food pics to count!! COMPLETED 01/22!

Wow! What a trip you have planned....so jealous! I cannot wait to follow along with you and your DH.:surfweb:

Glad you enjoyed the airport food even if the prawns were overcooked. That afternoon tea and scones sounds yummy!

Oh my I'm drooling over that No Way Jose and can't wait to try one next week! :thumbsup2

Glad you made it safe and sound...I must say your non WDW food porn looked to die for!

I hope to get to B&C next month, we are staying at the BWI so its super close, maybe for lunch one day?

The No Way Jose looks soooooo good, I have not had ice cream in forever (thanks lactose intolerant!) and I think I might have to sample a bit of that, just load up on the Lactaid pills first :rotfl2: I am a sucker for peanut butter and chocolate together :goodvibes

How is the weather in Orlando?

Thank you, and the non-wdw food was very good!

Definitely try to fit B&C in, we never got round to trying it when we stayed at the Boardwalk last time, but I'm glad we gave it a go this time. The No Way Jose was absolutely fantastic!

The weather here is good. Friday was pretty much perfect, a lot of cloud around so it didn't feel that hot. We had a big storm Friday late afternoon, but it cleared around 7ish.

Yesterday was still a little cloudy but it felt much hotter, although I always think it feels hot at Animal Kingdom. Today is very warm, and clear blue skies.

Oooo excited!!:cool1::cool1::cool1:

Bring on the food.:banana::banana::worship:

Thank you!

just found you over here:thumbsup2: have the most amazing trip and really looking forward to reading all about it:yay:

Thank you very much. I will post these reports on the dibb as soon as I get back, I just didn't get a chance to start the thread there before I came away.

This may very well be my new favorite thread. :cool1:

Subbing...

:rotfl:Thank you very much.

Subbing!
Now I'm starving, (ALREADY) guess I'll go fix something mundane.:rotfl2:

Thanks.

Can't wait for more!popcorn::

Thanks for joining in.

That B&C meal looks great. You were brave to get that so late into your day. Looking forward to the rest of your reviews.

I know but I paid for it later. I'm not a great flyer, as it stresses me out, and I think eating such a heavy meal after a stressful day upset my stomach, and I was ill later that night.

I was fine the next morning though, so it wasn't the food, just my stomach complaining about what I'd been putting it through the last couple of days.

I really wanted to try Beaches & Cream on our most recent trip, but we couldn't fit it in. After seeing the picture of that sundae I am going to make it fit in to our next trip! Yum!

I'm glad you're going to make room for B&C, the sundae was fab!

That ice :mickeybar:mickeybar:mickeybarcream looks awesome!!!! We always stop @ Ghirardelli's but we might have to do both this trip!!!:rolleyes1:rolleyes1 I mean PB & Fudge? Hello Vacation! :beach::earsboy:

Thank you. I've never got round to trying Ghiradellis but I loved that sundae, it was so rich though!

I'm in! It looks great and I can't wait to see more!! Hope you have a blast on your vacation.

Thanks for joining in.

I'm in! This will get me all worked up for my trip in 35 days! :cool1:

Thank you. And hope you have a fantastic trip.

Oh. My. Goodness. This would be a dream trip for sure!!!! Have a wonderful time. Really surprised at how fancy-dancy the food was on your flight!

I love B&C. Never had a bad meal here, although I think it's safe to say I'd skip that wrap. I don't mind eating vegetarian, and we do 1-2 times a week, but that didn't look appealing if it was cold.

Have a magical trip! Cannot wait to read all about it. I'll wave as I walk by your resort--we'll be there Sept 23-Oct 2.:thumbsup2

Thank you. Yeah, I think DH would have been better off with the veggie burger, but he'll know that for next time. You'll be checking in just as we'll be checking out of the Beach Club and heading to Universal. Hope you have a fantastic trip.

Have a great time and I am sure you will not go hungry...:cheer2:

Thank you. We'll definitely not go hungry, I haven't finished a meal yet and we're on day 4 of the trip. We're also already seriously behind on using snack credits, having only used 3 so far. I have a feeling we'll be bringing a lot of snacks home for work colleagues and friends!

The next morning I’d booked a 7am Chef Mickeys reservation. We’d never been here before, but fancied giving it a try. I’d read it could be very loud, so wanted the first available seating. I knew we’d be up early anyway because of the time difference so decided to take advantage of it!

We were up before the alarm at 5:45, and grabbed a taxi from the Beach Club just after 6:30. We arrived at the contemporary around 6:50, and were seated just after 7. The restaurant was pretty empty at this time, meaning it wasn’t too loud but it soon filled up in our section by around 7:30.

Our server greeted us promptly, and brought out coffee and orange juice, and that early in the morning we definitely needed the coffee.

There was no one at the buffet yet, so we went straight up. For my first plate I chose a cheese blintz with cherry topping, a mickey waffle and french toast. The french toast was really good, sweet enough to eat by itself, slightly crispy on the outside, but soft in the middle. The mickey waffle was good and I really liked the blintz, with the rich cream cheese, working well with the tart cherry pie type filling.

DH chose a more savory selection, including scrambled egg, cheese omelet and vegetable lasagna. The omelet was good, with a nice amount of cheese and he enjoyed the lasagna, saying it had a nice balance of cheese and roasted vegetable flavour.

For my second plate I had a pancake with blackberry topping, fruit, some apple/granola/yogurt mix and pineapple/yogurt/granola mix. The fruit was all nice and ripe, and I really liked the yogurt/granola mix.

DH finished with a sweet plate including a cheese blintz, donut hole and lemon and poppyseed cake, which was very moist and had a strong lemon flavour to it.

We were both full by this point but we received a chocolate cupcake as were celebrating our 7th wedding anniversary. This was actually very good, but we could only manage half between the two of us.

Service was fine, and all five characters made it to our table by 7:55. The characters spent a reasonable amount of time with each table, and were very good with small children who were a bit unsure of them.

Overall we enjoyed this breakfast and would do it again. It wasn’t too crazy (although that may have been due to the timing of our reservation), the food was fine and I got to see the Fab Five in a very short space of time.

Sounds and looks like a very enjoyable breakfast at CM.:thumbsup2 We haven't been for a good while but always enjoyed it when we went. I think timing is a big key to getting the most out of the character meals.:)

Looking forward to more!:cloud9:

After Chef Mickeys we walked across to Magic Kingdom, making rope drop with plenty of time to spare. This was a perfect touring day at Magic Kingdom. The park was incredibly quiet, we walked onto pretty much everything, and there was quite a lot of cloud cover around meaning it never got that hot.

After a productive morning we walked back to the Contemporary for lunch at The Wave. We were a few minutes late for our 12:30pm reservation, but the restaurant was very empty so they had no problem seating us.

Our server here was excellent. Friendly, incredibly efficient and she had good knowledge of the menu.

DH ordered a strawberry milkshake for his drink, which was really tasty. It was very thick with a good strawberry flavour, topped with whipped cream and strawberry sauce. I was boring and just had a diet coke.

For an appetiser we shared the Florida Rock Shrimp cakes and Scallops. The scallops were very good, we got three perfectly pan seared scallops, served on chilli cream corn sauce and topped with sweetcorn and onion. The sauce was tasty, adding a little bit of spice and the sweetcorn had a nice char to it which gave great flavour. These are normally served with bacon, but we ordered them without as DH doesn’t eat meat.
IMG_0599.jpg

The Rock Shrimp cakes were also really good. They were mostly minced shrimp, with some large pieces of shrimp thrown in. They included some filler but were very tasty. They were served with an onion, tomato and cucumber salsa which was absolutely delicious, and topped with a spicy remoulade. We were both really impressed with The Wave so far.

For my entree I chose the Mediterranean Tuna salad. This was composed of four slices of pepper crusted Ahi tuna, served perfectly rare, on a bed of mixed lettuce leaves, tomatoes, red pepper, green beans and potatoes. The tuna was delicious, and the salad was nice and fresh. The potatoes were a little hard for my liking, but the rest of the dish was lovely. It was served with toast topped with Olive tapenade. I’m not a huge olive fan, but I liked the tapenade, it was a just a touch to salty for me.
IMG_0601.jpg

DH chose the sustainable fish of the day, served with edamane and vegetable stew. The fish today was wild salmon, which was served medium. The salmon was topped with pesto, which complemented the strong flavour of the fish. The vegetables were served al dente, which provided some bite to the dish, but the broth let the dish down as it was a little bland.
IMG_0602.jpg

We decided to share one dessert, and went with the Creamy Indulgence:Chocolate Mousse served with salted caramel, Coffee Creme Brûlée and cheesecake topped with fruit compote. The mousse was our favourite of the three, the thick chocolate mousse was complemented perfectly by the salted caramel, and the bottom of the mousse was made of some kind of wafer which gave it a nice crunchy texture.
The creme brûlée had a strong coffee flavour, smooth texture and a thick burnt sugar topping. The chocolate biscotti was very nice, and was lovely dipped in the brûlée. The coffee taste was a little strong for me, so DH had the majority of this one.
The cheesecake had a nice thick texture, a citrus flavour and was topped with a peach or apricot compote (I couldn’t tell which). DH hates all things apricot, and was convinced this had apricot in it so I had most of this one.

Overall this was a really nice meal. The appetisers and dessert were great, and there were just a couple of minor issues with the entrees. Service was fantastic, and the atmosphere was relaxed and quiet, a world away from dining in the parks. We both agreed it was worth leaving Magic Kingdom for lunch here, and would definitely dine here again.

Thank you. The afternoon tea was fantastic, as was the No Way Jose. Have a fab trip.

Looking forward to more!:cloud9:

Thank you very much. CM was better than I was expecting, but then I'd read a lot of bad reviews so had quite low expectations from the beginning. I think the timing was key, a meal an hour later would have probably been less enjoyable due to the amount of people there and the noise levels.

I hope to have internet access again in another couple of days, so will update soon. Thanks for reading.

Yum!! Thanks for the Wave review and preview. We're planning on a MK lunch break there on our October visit. Glad to see you thought it was worth leaving the park for.

Aunt Bee

We did a 7am chef mickey adr and agree it was a great time to go - have booked same time for this october trip.

I want to try the No Way Jose. It looks so yummy!!

Chef Mickeys gets such mixed reviews. I've never done it because I don't like buffets. But it's on my list of things to do, especially for my son.

The scallops look amazing! YUM!! And your salad looks so fresh and colorful. Beautiful presentation.

Loving your reviews- three weeks at WDW is bliss. We stay at Beach Club next year if all goes to plan so looking forward to your meals there. Have an amazing trip. ;)

All caught up! Your food porn really makes me drool.... I want to be at Disney at this instant. Still two weeks away yet.

Great reviews so far! The Wave looks delicious....might have to put it on the list for our next trip.

That No Way Jose sundae looks fabulous! I hope you are having a great trip. :goodvibes

From what I've been reading you are having a wonderful week as far as (non-existant) crowds.

Oh wow, what an amazing trip you have lined up and so much yummy food

Great start to your reviews :thumbsup2

Lunch at the Wave looks delicious :cloud9:

Can't wait to hear about the rest of your trip :goodvibes
