2014 Itineraries?

just got off the Magic on Sunday and the Cruise Director (as well as one of the CMs) told us that DCL will be returning to NYC in 2014-15. We're hoping that's firm The Cruise director said Disney was very happy with NYC cruises & planning on returning (said this before the show on Saturday nite) to wild applause LOL.

In addition he encouraged all guests who wanted DCL to come back to NYC to write that on their comment cards...he said that is the best way to communicate to DCL what itineraries guests want DCL to consider. So fill out those comment cards everyone!!!

Funny, I didn't realize until the end of the 2 night cruise that Darren the cruise director is the same Darren we knew from years ago when he was one of the Cruise Staff CM's hosting the game shows, etc.....so glad he has moved up within the company!!!

Keep reading here on the DIS! LOL!

A number of years back when there was lots of wishing that DCL would go to Alaska, folks would say "the ships are not built for the ice" or "never, they do not have enclosed areas nor an enclosed pool like other cruise lines". Then when people speculated on Hawaii, they would say "never, the ships are too small to sail across the Pacific".

I for one, am not counting out Asia... ;)

:)

for those of you who have booked "opening day" - how do you even know when that is?

Does DCL send out some kind of notice, or did you use a travel agent or what?

just curious.

Two words: TRAVEL AGENT.

We give them our request (stateroom option, dates, itinerary choices) and on opening day they get on the phone and spend hours getting the rates. They have never let us down with some of the best rates we've gotten.

Now I would love an Asia cruise....that would be amazing! Also, would love them to do another Hawaii one which falls in the school holidays rather than term time so we can go!
Do you think they will do Hawaii again?

I spoke with the cruise director during my NYC cruise and he said dcl will not go to Asia. They've thought about it and its too complicated because they would have to change all the signage to chinese and english. ITs not going to happen...sad:(

NEVER (and I mean never) say never with Disney. There were many who said no no no to Disney EVER going to the Mediterranean! And then there were lots and lots of naysayers about Disney ever being "outfitted" to go into Alaskan waters ;) With Disney, I do believe anything is possible.

After 14+ years in the industry, they have to look ahead to changing up the itineraries or repeat cruisers will tire of the same old ports. Many have already started looking elsewhere for better pricing and more itinerary options :surfweb:

I, for one, am STILL holding out hope that someday they will actually port in Hawaii for a season and do the islands without requiring a round-trip sail from L.A. Now I know all the arguments against this (foreign ports and such), but one can always hope for an alternative

After having an amazing cruise recently sailing out of NY and seeing how easy it is to get there, we would definitely do a NY cruise in 2014 if they come back. :thumbsup2

I wish we could have taken advantage of this no fly opportunity to cruise, but we had already booked Alaska.

However, if they come back in 2014, it's a no-brainer. I really hope they make it 7 or 8-night cruises and include some New England ports (like Boston or one in Maine) like other cruise lines do. Also would love them to sail to Bermuda!

Doesn't the new ship commitment at PC end in 2015? Maybe they could bring a new ship to NYC then!

I think it would be great if DCL did more exotic itineraries - like Asia. However, I won't be on one, because I know DCL will price them like they priced their Baltic cruises! There are plenty of ships that sail in Asia. If I decide to go there some day - I know where to look.

I'd love Bermuda, but not New England unless it actually sailed from Boston(that would be better than NY!). Just my personal preference but, I want to see palm trees and feel that southern heat when Im on a cruise...plus I don't think I could cruise somewhere I could drive to. ;)

What, no Cape Cod, Hampton Beach or Ogunquit ports of call? LOL! :rotfl:

We get more than enough heat and palm trees here in Ariz -- which is probably why I love cruisng to Alaska.

We've sailed on two New England fall foliage cruises -- love Bar Harbor, PEI, Rhode Island, and Quebec.

LOL, isn't it funny the grass is always greener? :thumbsup2 I despise the fall here as I find it depressing with everything dying. And there is no way I would cruise to Alaska to look at snow and ice. I hate when I have to look at it at home. I guess thats why they call it "vacation". ;)

Can you see the Magic pulling into Hampton???:rotfl2: Maybe we can catch an 80s hairband at the Club Casino while there.

We would have to tender in! We will also have to take the excursion that includes a lobstah roll! LOL! :moped:

Plenty of nevers as well on going to Hawaii.;) :cloud9:

We're from NYC, where it does get quite cold and snowy, but I love cruising Alaska and the New England Coast. I hope DCL decides to return to both in 2014. I would do a 3rd Alaska cruise in a heartbeat and would love to experience it DCL style for the first time. I loved the NYC Canada cruise and wouldn't mind it becoming a 7-day. Prince Edward Island is supposed to be beautiful. They could also add Bar Harbour. Even though I could theoretically drive there, I wouldn't mind it as a port of call.

Bermuda gets a thumbs up too, but it will be hard to get the hubby on another Bermuda cruise. The ones he's been on in the past have had bad weather on the sea days. It can get quite rocky there in the mid-Atlantic! :crazy2: But Bermuda is an absolutely beautiful place. Being docked 3 days on Front Street in Hamilton (or 2 days Hamilton/1 day St. George) would be wonderful. I would hope for a 7-day Bermuda & not a 5. I personally hate getting on a ship for less than 7 days.
