2013 Galveston, Texas Port?

What do you feel are the chances that Disney will continue departing from Galveston, Texas and use the 7-Night Western Caribbean Cruise Itinerary on the Disney Magic for the summer of 2013?

I'm sure DCL is waiting to see how popular the Galveston sailings are next year. My guess would be no though.

Oh I hope it continues. We are looking at 2013 also for our family and it would be SO much cheaper to drive to Galveston than fly to Florida.

When we were on the Dream 2 weeks ago, Head Waiter Fitz, found out we were from Texas and asked if we were going on the Magic. I told him that the time of year stunk for those of us with kids in school and he said "Don't worry, it will be there again longer". I asked him if he knew it was going to stay and he said "It will". So.....who knows.

We were so excited to hear dcl was going out of Texas so we could save on flights but that wasn't the case at all!! The cruise was twice as much to go out of Texas vs Florida. Even for 7 people it was still cheaper to buy flights to Florida.

You mean the magic is more expensive then Fantasy !!!?

We are from Los Angeles, and cruised out of Galveston in May. We arrived at Houston Hobby airport a day early, and it was very expensive getting to the Galveston port.

There are other cruise lines already sailing from Galveston, including RCCL and Carnival. I recall reading that Princess will sail from Galveston, if they don't already do so.

Galveston is very competitive for cruises. Sadly, I think Disney might have priced themselves out of the Galveston market.

Oh, I hope they cruise during the summer out of Texas. We are in the same boat that we live in Texas but can't do the Galveston cruises because they are during the school year. :confused3 Maybe if they at least gave us June...

I sure hope so.

Oh I hope so!!! I've got one booked for next September. It's so much easier to just drive to Galveston!!

Wow, my 7 night cruise next September is at least $1000 cheaper than my 5 night on the Dream this summer. Granted I only booked the 5 night cruise 6 months out, but we have the same category stateroom and we don't have to pay for hotels and flights. The Galveston cruise turned out to be way cheaper for us.

My bet is that they'll stay through April and then head somewhere else for the summer-- it seems we can only seem to keep Carnival during the summers! We are hoping for some spring dates at least-- we're booking in Dec. 2012 and we'll switch to the Spring of 2013 if they release dates from Houston-- it just works better with our schedule. We can't afford the school holiday cruises, though. Either way, we will have to take the boys out of school. The holiday prices are just :scared1:! --Katie

We did our part to try to keep them in Texas, or encourage them to return to Texas. We booked on the first day available. ;)

Honestly, for us, the convenience of leaving from Galveston is what convinced us to finally try DCL. We love to cruise, but the combination of ports and departure ports has kept us from trying Disney until now. (This is also true for several friends of ours here in Texas.)

Maybe we'll turn out to love DCL so much that we're willing to try them again from less convenient ports in the future.

Airfare from DFW to MCO is just insane these days! We have been flying to MCO every year for either WDW or DCL for 15 years. What I paid for our June cruise was almost double what I have ever paid before.
I am so frustrated with Southwest too."Low cost" my arm! They have never bee cheaper for any fig we have ever done.
I would just love to hop down to Galveston and hop on the ship, but that time of year just stinks. I would love a Spring Break cruise!!

The Cayman port schedule currently has the Magic continuing it's weekly stops at Grand Cayman, which is the schedule it starts in September 2012 from Galveston, through April 2013, (as far out as the schedule goes at the moment.)

Really?? Wow that's sounds crazy. I bet it's just a fluke. I certainly wouldn't know as much about it as you do, (you live there), but I just did a quick search and the base cost cruises in Sept/Oct out of Galveston were all cheaper than the base crusies out of PC in Feb/March. Then I did a search for Southwest Airlines from Love Field to Hobby and then Love Field to Orlando, for both Sept and later in the year like Dec, and it was less to fly to Hobby.... but both flights were amazingly cheap! As low as $77 each way

In the end, I have a feeling the Galveston cruises may work well Disney... at least for awhile

I will have to recheck but I priced it out as well as my TA and for the same cat room it was twice as much as our eastern sailing feb 2012. This was on the day rates were released too. I will have to look at it again later this morning.

I'm a Texas school teacher and though I would love to sail out of Galveston, non of the dates work for me.
