A very important date! September 17, 2011! What is this you ask? Why is it important? Because it is Jophias wedding anniversary! Sadly due to my life falling apart the year before, I had to cancel our Disney trip, and missed Jophias 10th anniversary in the world. Luckily my life came back together and this year we were able to spend the day with them!
Before we left for our morning out, we received a text from Michele. They were leaving today, and she said she had a gift for us! When we met up, she handed us a bunch of DVC fast passes that they had recieved when they signed up to be DVC members ( Which they since have canceled as she left her wedding band in Disney and they never found it.... she was beyond livid, dissapointed and heart broken.) We were happy as could be with this gift and planned on using them wisely!
If you have read any of my or Sophias past TR, then you know where this day started....
It started where it ended the night before at the Poly, Kona Cafe for breakfast! Jophia ALWAYS go here for their anniversary breakfast!
Bob was very excited for breakfast here as he was DYING for good coffee!
Our servers name was Bob, and I have noted that he was sufficient but not at all great. He had a very weird personality... maybe we were all just tired? or maybe he is just over working at the happiest place on earth lol
The first thing we did was order the above picture, which winded up being free on the DxDP... I have never heard of any pressed pots being free on the DxDP.. we found that a lot on this trip though... we weren't complaining! With that said, Bob lived in Hawaii for quite a while and said while it was MUCH better than what we had been drinking daily, it was by no means Kona lol It did the job though!
I have NO food porn..which is like almost unheard of for me.. well I have one lonely picture.. it's a good one though!
OMGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGG.NOMS. I sincerely am counting down the days til this breakfast....LOVE it!
We all enjoyed our food, and I still say that Kona is a great value and great tasting, although the portions did seem a bit smaller!
OH..looking at the bill now, I remember that Jack was not feeling well this morning. He had plain eggs, and seemed a bit better after breakfast.
Our original plan this day was Epcot right away! But seeing as we had FP's that had to be used that day we opted to head to DHS so we could ride TSMM!
As we ware all walking in, I stop and say hi, I'm from Pennsylvania too, to the CM who was working the turnstile.
He takes one look at me and he says, excuse me, but you are going to have to cover up THOSE tattoos with band aids....
Uhm.. what?
I said, you have to cover those up! they are NOT at all family appropriate! At this point, he is yelling at me, and making a scene.
I'm looking frantically at my ink, and wondering *** he was talking about or referring to?
He then points to my momma mermaid holding her merbaby tattoo. Her upper body is partially exposed, but covered by the baby and her long hair. You see NOTHING!
I REFUSED to cover up any ink, and demanded to speak to a manager instantly. I had been there nearly two weeks, where I had MANY CM's including management stop me just to admire my ink, not to mention numerous photopass pics, and PAST trips with the same ink. i was mortified and embarrassed that he made such a scene in front of not only my friends, but my children!
I have never and will never argue with Disney about their rules, they are put there to keep everyone safe, but I am sorry, my ink is NOT offensive, and I had seen much worse ink throughout my stay. Later that day Jack even came up to me and asked why a girls ****ies were out. Apparently you can where a shirt that is cut straight down the front, shredded with a push up bra where all of your breasts are exposed, but you can't have a mermaid tattoo?? LAME!
Management DID let me in without putting on a band aid, but never apologized, the poor young manager looked bewildered!
I was so sad over the whole fiasco. I was so excited to see a fellow PA resident and he just embarrassed the heck out of me. I did write a letter when I got home, and they sent me 3 free days with park hoppers at a moderate resort of my choice.... Nice of them, but I was really hoping for that guys head... too much?
Once that was over and took up over an hour of our time we headed to TOT to use our first FP's.
The machine said NO! Ugh. What more could go wrong!
The boys went on TOT (Jack included, omg!!) while Sophia and Kayla waited while I went over to the DVC booth.
(not sure, WHAT Jack was doing here lol)
Jorge was the man working this particular DVC booth. He waits on me and then proceeds to talk to every person that stopped by or even looked in his direction. It was annoying an painstakingly long. If I was interested in buying DVC I would have changed my mind due to this man.
After forever he says sorry, these passes have expired. I explained the situation, about my friend just buying DVC and she gave us these, she just bought yesterday and passes were supposed to be good for 3 days... what was the issue? He wasn't sure what happened, but since I wasn't the actual person who bought DVC he couldn't honor all of the passes, just the one pack... which ended up being 12 FP's! SCORE! The day was looking up! Thank you pixie dust, and thank you Jorge who is not meant to be a DVC person, but rather a pin trader or something lol!
With our free fastpasses in hand I skipped over to the crew and we booked it to TSMM! We got to ride 2 x back to back! Thank you Michele!
Joe rode with Jack and Kayla with Soph so Bob and I could ride
After TSMM, we decided to press our luck and head over to Star Tours! We didn't have much time as we had a lunch ADR at Via Napoli, but we all really wanted to ride!
We were all glad that we did as it was the best one yet! I REALLY loved the new star tours!
We almost canceled our Via Napoli adr but opted to just book it there.
On our way out of DHS I saw the manager who was there earlier, and spoke to him about what happened again and he said nothing. Just sat there with a blank stare. DOH!
Finally we made it to Epcot, and MAN, I always forget what a trek it is to get around world showcase!
We parted ways with Jophia for a bit (which it was their anniversary, prolly wanted a break from those kids lol) and hopped on a boat to get to Italy.... we ended up getting to our 12:45 ressie at 1:15.. oops!
I apologized and they said no worries at all, and they could seat us! They also were taking tons of walk ups that day!
I gotta say it now, BEST LUNCH EVER! I had read awful reviews and I have NO clue what those people were thinking! Even very Italian Bob LOVED this place!
Our server was Nicole and she was sweet as anything! and at Via Napoli, when on DxDP, they do not separate kids form adult credits, so the kids could order off the whole menu!
I'm pretty sure with the exception of an app they ordered off the kids menu.
I ordered the Frito Misto as an app and omggggggggggg! YUMS!
Bob ordered the salami e provelone and LOVED it!
Kayla ordered the kids fruit cup (jack split the frito with me)
for our entrees, jack and I both ordered the Margherita pie, Kayla ordered the kids calzone, and Bob ordered the candele. All of us LOVED it! For those of you that insulted the pizza, you do not know what good pizza is! This was beyond phenomenal. I was shocked seeing as it is Florida, and it is very hard to make good dough in those temps. BUT man! It was as good as some of the best NYC pizza joints I frequent! Bob agreed! He also LOVED LOVED LOVED his pasta dish! I'm not a huge fan of sausage, but I did like his.
Uhm, and Kaylas calzone! OMG. SO yum!
We also loved the pizza oven and all around atmosphere!
Next up was dessert, and I was happy as a clam with the options!
Bob ordered the pistachio gelato, I the zappole, and the kids ordered the cookie sandwich!
OK, reviews were right about the zeppole.. nothing to write home about. Lacked flavor :/
The pistachio gelato though! OMGGGGGGGGGGG! and the kids sandwiches were to die for!
meh...
OMG YUM!
Also omg yum!
This was hands down probably the best meal we ate all trip! A pleasant surprise after all the bad reviews we read! I would pay out of pocket for this one even!
A bit pricey, but worth every penny!
