I'm onboard now, too. Our source of news is CNN. The Promenade Lounge TVs have been showing CNN, FINALLY with the volume on. They showed Pres. Bush's initial speech, then for a long time wouldn't turn the volume back on because they didn't want to spoil the Disney mood as we were told by one waitress.
In Cozumel yesterday, a Mexican ship escorted us into the harbor -- we haven't done this itinerary before, so I don't know if that's routine. At the pier. we were docked next to two U.S. Navy ships. Again, I don't know if that's routine. But it was odd, seeing the U.S. Navy sailors, the armed Mexican guards and the Disney and other cruise ships, with families and children milling around. An odd juxtaposition.
Incidentally, in case it hasn't been mentioned, due to heavy swells our ship was unable to stay at Grand Cayman. The Cayman port authority didn't allow any tendering operations, so no cruise ships were able to land passengers, and we simply departed for Cozumel. The captain said in his shipwide address that some Magic passengers who had missed the ship's sailing in Port Canaveral were waiting on the pier on Grand Cayman, hoping to make it onto the ship. I saw Captain Tom today and asked about those passengers, and he said they had gotten aboard. He said their flight had been late into Orlando on the day of departure.
So be sure to allow enough time to get to Florida, especially with the increased security!
Other than missing Grand Cayman, it has been a wonderful trip so far. Tomorrow, Castaway Cay.
