11 Month/7 Month Calculation for Reservation

Can someone please share how you calculate the 11 month and 7 month date for a reservation? I know it is from the date of check-out, but what does that mean exactly? Is there a calculator tool somewhere that will tell you the date to call for a reservation based upon your travel dates?

Luckily, DVC has made this easier than making ADR's. When they say 11 months, they mean months.

So, if your check out date at your home resort was April 15th, 2008, you could call to make that reservation on May 16th, 2007.

Just to make it more confusing...you can also call day by day and link the reservations.

So, if you were going April 8th - April 15th, 2008 to your home resort, you could call and reserve EACH DAY on May 9th - May 16th, 2007...and then link the ressies together so you don't have to actually change rooms.

So you can begin calling 11 months prior to your check-out date, not the check-in date?

If you want to book your whole stay at one time, yes....11 months prior to check OUT date because then you'll be within the 11 month window on all your dates.

If you're looking for a particularly hard to get room (GV, boardwalk view at BWV, anything at an Epcot resort during Food and Wine, and probably the AKV Concierge), or you just want to really mak sure you get the dates you want, you can book day by day. You book your check IN day 11 months prior, then the next day 11 months prior, until you hit your check OUT day. For example:

Check in day is April 8th....you can book that night on May 9th.
Next day is April 9th...you can book that night on May 10th.
Next day is April 10th...you can book that night on May 11th

Etc until you hit your last night.

Then ask MS to link all the ressies together.

If you go onto dvcmember.com--

My DVC > Vacation Points

It tells you when you can make a reservation at your home resort as well as non-home resorts.

Yes, go to Caskbill.com and download my free DVC-Planner program. It will tell you the dates to call for any reservation, at either the 11-month or 7-month windows. It will also tell you 11-month/7-month day-by-day reservation dates if you are calling day by day.

It adjusts for Sundays and Holidays when member services is closed.

When you book day by day, linking is not required. What happens is on the first call you tell MS you are booking day by day and you tell them your actual check-out day. Then they book a 1-night reservation (for your first night) and give you the confirmation number. MS will tell you that they will hold your confirmation letter until your reservation is completely booked.

You call back the next day to modify that reservation by extending it one night, or two nights when you call on Monday since MS is closed on Sunday. You do this every day until the reservation is complete. MS usually notices that your reservation is complete and will tell you that they will release your confirmation letter. If the MS CM doesn't notice, just remind them that you are done so that they send out the confirmation letter.

Since you are making and then modifying one reservation, not making a series of 1-night reservations, there is nothing to link.
