10day ticket in to AP - expiration date?

If you upgrade a 10 day ticket to an AP, what is the AP's expiration date based on...the first day you used the 10 day ticket, or the first day you have it converted as an AP?

(Ex - our trip is April 29-May 8 2016. If we use our 10 days from Apr 29-May8 and upgrade to an AP on May 8, would our AP's be good through April 28 or May 7, 2017) Our 2017 vacation days may be automatically assigned as the first week of May again so just looking at our ticket options.

If you use the MYW ticket first, the AP expiration date should be 1 year after the date the MYW was first used.
If the MYW ticket is unused, the AP expiration date should be 1 year after the date you did the transaction.

When you convert from a MYW ticket to an AP, the setting of the expiration date is a manual process and sometimes mistakes happen.

ETA further clarification of expiration dates.

This.

Definitely check the expiration date. As the PP noted, it SHOULD be the first day you used a ticket or the transaction date for an unused ticket (but if the ticket was purchased from a reseller, or as part of a package or in any way except direct from Disney, use it first). However, we have had ticket booth CMs try to set it for the date the ticket was purchased some months prior (we walked away from that one after he refused to budge) and we have received pixie dust from CMs who set the date for the transaction date even though the tickets had been first used a few days earlier.

Actually it will be good through April 29, 2017

This. Disney APs begin and expire on the same Day & Month, one year apart. For most years, that's a 366-day AP. If you use your 10-day ticket to receive credit (cost reduction) towards an AP purchase, the AP will begin on the first day that the 10-day ticket was used. Why else would Disney give you a credit for the 10-day ticket? To use the AP in the first week of May 2017, you'll need to purchase the AP separately from the MYW ticket used in 2016, and plan your AP purchase date to coincide with 2017's vacation dates. I wish Disney sold a 376-day AP. That would solve problems like this.
