10/21/2014 5 Night Port Canaveral

GreatScott--that is cool! That will be a nice surprise.

That is so bizarre about the itinerary. It hasn't quite pulled up correctly since they made the changes. Every time I've pulled it up, it's been listed as a 5-night on the Wonder with two stops at Castaway Cay. I sure hope they don't change it again! We're excited for this cruise!

The itinerary isn't showing up under the search for a cruise area, but it is under cruises and destinations:
http://disneycruise.disney.go.com/cruises-destinations/bahamas/itineraries/5-night-bahamian-cruise/

You can click on the top map and get the whole route. I wouldn't be sad if they changed Castaway Cay day to the last day, though.

I just booked my husband and I on this sailing. It will be our first cruise. Since we are new to this I used a travel agent and emailed her when I saw your posts about the changes and confirmed your findings on the DCL website. She saw the same thing and called DCL and confirmed we are still sailing on the Magic and there is only one stop at Castaway Cay and Nassau is the second stop before going on to Key West.

Welcome! It is always a good idea to use a travel agent. We use Small World travel because they have a good onboard credit they give you. I think Dreamfinder travel has a good one, too.

:welcome: How exciting for you and your husband! I never had an interest in cruising, and did not expect to enjoy it. Now I don't want to vacation any other way! So much fun, and so much to do.

Thanks. We used Mouse Fan Travel this trip but will check out the others next time. Thanks for the recommendations!

I have been wanting to do a cruise ever since Disney had the big red boat but he has never been interested in cruising. I think the toughts of been on a boat full of kids didn't appeal but everything we read and hear says there are plenty of quiet spaces for adult cruisers. This cruise is to celebrate our 25th anniversary so I think thats why he caved. :thumbsup2

Welcome!! This is my husband's first time cruising, and I hope he loves it! It is such a great way to travel!

Not as many kids when we are cruising although there will be some. Avoiding times when the kids are off from school is a good rule of thumb. Our previous cruises were in October and September and found it to be an ideal time. The only times I felt the crowds were at Sail Away, Pirate Party and Good Bye. Otherwise, it is hard to believe there are that many people on the ship. I am not a pool person, can't handle the sun, and some complaints that the lounge chairs in the adult area get taken early in the AM.

I enjoyed that it was relaxing and I could do what I wanted, no stress. The ships are beautiful and I also liked just walking around discovering things, and 'bumping' into characters here and there. If you like casinos and more action oriented onboard activities than I would say you will be disappointed. Can't talk my friends into DCL because of this, they want rock climbing walls and ziplines, and the casino is a must for them. It really depends on what you are looking for from a cruise vacation. :)

Booked this as our b2b! Sailimg the Magic for the first time

Welcome. Us too, any ship as far as that goes, cruise virgins here.

Can't wait to hear about all the details of the upgrades after they are done. My sister sails the Magic in Europe on one of the last sailing before the refurb. Will be fun to compare the differences.

Yes, am looking forward to trying out the new restaurant and can't wait to see what is on the menu. Hear the staterooms are getting a new, updated look and bedding, the pictures look very attractive. Big complaint though is doing away with the twin beds with connectors. Works for couples, but for friends and/or family that share a stateroom can be awkward. DCL charges double occupancy for single cruisers, so not an option for many and the twin beds worked well when sharing in those situations.

Was on the Magic last September and she is a beautiful ship and enjoyed every minute. But, she was definitely showing signs of wear, particularly rusted railings in stateroom verandahs, etc. I was impressed though about the level and quality of maintenance in common areas. While onboard, I watched crew very early one morning sand down all the wooden towel stands in the pool areas and reseal, all before the morning rush.

We will be on the Dream for the first time in September, and I am not sure I will like the bigger ship compared to the classics. Will update here and let you know :)

This will be our first B2B (and we will get to keep our same stateroom:-) and our 7th Disney Cruise but our first time sailing on the Magic. We will be sailing on the repo cruise from San Juan, Puerto Rico, immediately preceding this cruise, so we'll get to experience San Juan (first leg) and Key West (second leg), and a double dip Castaway Cay (combined legs), as well as a brand new Magic. We're very excited about this B2B trip.

I agree. I'm not an engineer, but I'm not sure why the split bed option couldn't be raised for additional storage the same as a queen bed option. My adult daughter and I are travel buddies, and while it is not necessarily awkward to share the queen bed, it is less comfortable than the two twins. We are also not really happy with the redesign of the atrium into an asymmetrical staircase. While the atriums on the Dream and Fantasy are very pretty, we actually like the symmetrical staircases on the Wonder better, and don't understand why the two types of ships need to be condensed into one kind of look.

Nonetheless, we are excited about sailing on a brand new Magic. While we haven't been on the Magic before, we have been on the Wonder three times and I am sure we will get a definite sense of the changes on the Magic from our experiences on the Wonder.

DH and I are thinking about changing our 10/1/2014 to this cruise. The Disney website does not show the information just as you have advised. I called to see if there was a problem. DCL shows this sail date and no changes. Sounds like all is well.:thumbsup2

If you look up this cruise on the first search screen that comes up, and click on Bahamas, October 2014, and Port Canaveral you do for some reason get the Wonder information page; but, when that comes up, if you click on "change your search," you will be taken to the other search screen. If you specify the Magic in this search, the right itinerary will come up. This had me very confused at first until I figured out where to get the right information.

This past October, twenty of sailed the Dream and loved EVERY MINUTE OF IT!!!
We're excited to meet new people, explore a new ship and FISH EXTENDERS!!!

We're calling this trip on the Magic our friends and family cruise. My DH and I are traveling with our two DD (11 & 9 at cruise time) though we are inviting everyone we know. We already most of the folks that came with us on the dream signed up. YAY!!!

Thank you Maggie_Sam!! I am curious about who else is cruising the back to back. Many seem to be doing the San Juan part as the back to back not the Port Canaveral part.

My DD will be turning 9 just after this cruise!

San Juan to PC seems like it would be fun! I priced it out the other day and its not that bad in price! I have to see if my husband would want to do that!
