This is my 1st TR so please be patient . I'm a semi-lurker on these boards, but we had such a wonderful trip I wanted to share.
This trip almost never came, as DH was made redundant not long before we were set to go, but thanks to forward planning, frugal saving and maybe some pixie dust here and there we made it, and boy did we need it.
Our original plans included an on site stay at a value resort and a Disney Fairytale Wedding at Sea Breeze Point, on The Boardwalk with all the trimmings.... but it wasn't going to be. The trip was all paid for, but there was no way our savings could pay for the whole of the wedding... BUT we still got married in a very Disney way.... And you'll just have to read on to see how
The other members of the trip were staying off-site, so the decision was made to stay off-site too. It made better financial sense..... Plus they offered free
breakfast, who can refuse free breakfast?!
We were staying at The Marriott Village SpringHill Suites, Lake Bryant, for two weeks (7 - 21 June). Flying over from the UK, with a total of 8 people, 6 adults and 2 children.
Sooo... Who are 'we'?
Party 1:
Well there's Me! They call me Bee (not my actual name, but they do call me Bee ) I'm a 28 yr old mature student currently studying for my degree in childhood, although prior to this I was a serving member of the British Armed Forces, I was released on a compassionate discharge, but that's a whole other story. I'm the Disney nut in our family, even before having children I owned all
the DVD's and could recite them....and own countless Winnie the Pooh plushes. Talking of Pooh, I have become a little Pooh sized since leaving the forces . This would be my second trip to Orlando, the first when I was an early teen. I don't remember much of that trip, I think my parents squeezed so much in my brain melted. We did it ALL in two short weeks. MK, Epcot, MGM, the 2 water parks (AK wasn't quite ready although was pretty close I think), universal, busch gardens, sea world, nassa, Everglades tour, there was definitely some mall days in there too. Thankfully this trip wasn't so hectic..... It was just Disney all the way!!
Next up is my wonderful new DH, J.... for ease of reference I'll lengthen it to Jay (again not his real name, but what he gets called). Jay is my sugar daddy at 32 lol he is a trained car body sprayer by trade... but with the economy as it is no-one wants their car re-sprayed or touched up, so jobs are scarce. Following my lead however, Jay is also now a student (starting Sept) to become a mechanical engineer. This man lives and breaths cars..... and not that fussed about Disney, but he humors me. This would be Jay's first time to Disney.
We have two beautiful daughters, the eldest we shall call Ariel (as this is what she kept being called through out the holiday). Ariel is 7, she has a few learning difficulties that effect her behaviour a lot at home..... this trip was a breath of fresh air for Ariel, it was as if she was transformed, freed. This turned out to be HER trip.... and watching her experience, and see and wonder was just well.... Magical
Our youngest can best be described as.... Stitch. So that's what we shall call her. Stitch is 2, and is fairly advanced for her age. She is a mini tornado who goes from playful pet stitch , to angry scary alien stitch just as quickly as the 'real' one. She needs answers to everything, and often isn't satisfied then. Her favourite past time is holding an audience.... through singing/dancing/general talking, she's only quiet when she's sleeping. Stitch is also the spoilt baby of the family, and she knows it.
We had 2 other parties with us.....
Party 2:
My parents. My mum 59, known as Nanni, and my father 64, known as Taid. They live pretty close to us, and our girls are extremely close to them. We see them several times a week, they also helped out a lot with childcare before Jay got made redundant.
Party 3:
MIL and BIL (Jay's family). MIL is around the same age as my parents (Jay doesn't know?!) known as grandma, and BIL 29, Seth. They live approx. 3-4hours away by car and we don't see them often at all.
