New Alcohol Policy - How is it playing out at Embarkation?

Yup. Celebrity's Go Best package works out perfect for us, and we get the beverage package free on/in Norwegian Haven. I don't smuggle a drop on those lines, 1. Because I don't need to and 2. I knew the rules when I booked. Be nice if DCL factored packages and suite perks in to their "industry...

Alochol [bottles] bought on board/ ashore

If DCL wants be inline with industry standard, they need to consider allowing alcohol pick up just prior to the bags being required to be outside your room for pick up. On NCL, our butler delivered our port-purchased alcohol around 6pm the night prior to disembarkation. Perfect. One of the...

Rise of the Carry-on Alcohol Policy...

27 people in our group, 7 families. Only one future DCL cruise in the cards among us, and that's because it was a concierge deposit already booked prior to the rule change.

Rise of the Carry-on Alcohol Policy...

You name the method and my group tried it. 100% success rate. I mentioned this before, but my group said 'challenge accepted' to the abrupt change in policy and deemed it Operation Return the Bird. And to bats, the big deal to our group was that we deposited and PIF under one rule that was...

DCL carry-on alcohol policy changing Sept. 30 2015

My group considered the new alcohol policy a challenge. If it was on the internet as a way to smuggle, we tried it. We called it Operation Return the Bird. We had a 100% success rate. Bring what you want (creatively) and enjoy.

Warning: Don't buy liquor in port if using onboard airline check in

BTW, on our cruise, when discussing the new policy with a bartender, he cited minor girls being given alcohol as the reason for the policy change.

Warning: Don't buy liquor in port if using onboard airline check in

Obviously our friends missed that. We weren't looking since we didn't purchase anything. However, we are all well-seasoned cruisers on various lines, and thus far, DCL is the only line that doesn't allow you to pick up your liquor the night before. Not sure what the harm would be letting...

Warning: Don't buy liquor in port if using onboard airline check in

Wanted to point this out on its own. If you buy liquor in port, DCL holds it for you. The problem is that they don't allow you to pick it up until disembarkation morning. Most other cruiselines allow you to do so the night prior. If you are on a participating airline, you set out your bags...

Are there any cocktail packages onboard?

Based on my experience, DCL has no intentions of implementing real beverage packages beyond those available for beer and wine. Liquor is the root of all evil according to DCL, donchaknow?

DCL carry-on alcohol policy changing Sept. 30 2015

I'll save you the trouble. Do not expect a thing besides: - I'm sorry. - I know you're disappointed. I'm so very sorry. - The timing of the announcement was not a financial decision. - The policy was subject to change. We changed it. I'm sorry. - No, there are no plans to change the policy...

I really want to know!!! Cancel your cruise because of the new policy.

Yes, but there were reports here that they were allowing cancellations. That was nut the case for me. We'll move that deposit until they hold our feet to the fire and then we'll do a 3 night to get it over with.

I really want to know!!! Cancel your cruise because of the new policy.

I was away for the weekend, but I specifically asked about canceling our concierge deposit. I was told that I could cancel, but they would not refund my deposit. They felt that this policy was not something they owed anyone "compensation" for. All he said was "I'm sorry."

If you are PIF, and DCL gave you the chance to cancel w/o penalty, would you?

Yup. Us too. Absolutely kicking ourselves for making the same mistake. We'll push it out , until we decide what to do. This always makes me cringe. On NCL, we didn't spend a single nickel of our own money onboard. Why? Because our booking included all drinks, all premium dining options...

DCL carry-on alcohol policy changing Sept. 30 2015

I'd love to hear how the "industry standard" comment was taken out of context. They really didn't think that through at all. All that did was make me royally angry. Still livid there wasn't enough notice to PIF guests, but I guess Disney has our $$ and doesnt care that we'll be stepping on...

If you are PIF, and DCL gave you the chance to cancel w/o penalty, would you?

Sounds like DCL wouldn't lose a lot then for those who are extremely disappointed in the new policy and should offer the opportunity to cancel for those that no longer are interested in sailing with them, given the policy change. We've had much better experiences on other lines and would...

If you are PIF, and DCL gave you the chance to cancel w/o penalty, would you?

We are a resounding YES. Have nonrefundable airfare as well, but plenty of other vacation opportunities in FL are available during that time. Even other cruise lines who leave and return the same day as our Disney Cruise.

If you are PIF, and DCL gave you the chance to cancel w/o penalty, would you?

No debating or judging, plenty of other threads for that. A simple YES or NO will do. Appreciate it if folks would answer only if they are PIF.

Did you send a letter to DCL regarding the new carry-on beverage policy?

Are you including phone calls as well? Or posts/tweets via social media to Disney's official pages/handles? I assume you're not just talking about "letters," but more generically if you've contacted DCL about the policy change at all, regardless of the platform you've voiced your concerns to them.

DCL carry-on alcohol policy changing Sept. 30 2015

How reliable are the CMs you reach via the phone? That said, I hope everyone does call in the morning. Another flood of calls will not hurt since they've stopped responding to emails.

DCL carry-on alcohol policy changing Sept. 30 2015

If DCL introduced the policy icw the announcement that they were starting beverage packages or at least a comprehensive list of bottles for purchase waiting for you in your stateroom upon embarkation (which is inline with cruise industry practices, I might add), I might get it. But I'm still...
