Port Orleans Riverside Q&A Thread 2014 (Please read first post for FAQs!)

There is a footbridge that leads right from the Marina area over to the buildings where the Royal Rooms are located. We stayed in one last August, and it was really easy to get to from the main building. About a 5 minute walk to our room in Oak Manor. We always used the East Depot for...

    Pirate Night Outfits for Moms

I don't have any pictures of my outfit, but felt the same as you. I wanted to be festive for the night, but didn't want to do a full on pirate costume. So, I wore a long black gypsy style skirt with a yellow tee and the red bandana that was left in our room the day of Pirate Night.

    alex and ani

Charms are not sold separately, you have to buy the whole bracelet with the charm attached. Alex and Ani bracelets are meant to be stacked together on your wrist, like bangles, and the charms are not removable for you to add to a different bracelet.

    Wine Pricing

I'm glad I saw this thread, as I'm on the fence as to whether we should bring our own wine from home, or just get the package. I have a question about the corkage fees. Let's say I bring a bottle of wine to dinner our first night, but don't finish it. If we bring that same, opened bottle of...

How to keep frizzy hair looking good on a cruise.. Any tips?

I LOVE the F450 Smoothing Treatment! (it's made by Thermafuse, for those that don't know) I've been doing the express treatment on my hair for a year now, and what a change I've seen. My hair has natural wave (not curls) and body, and I was worried about the treatment taking that away, but it...

    Breakfast Buffet Hours

Yes, if you don't want to wait until the buffet opens, you can order some room service of coffee, juice and pastries to hold you over. Just circle what you want and leave the menu on the door the night before and it will be delivered whatever time you choose.

    Question about Verizon cellular service

You can use your phone while on the cruise, but you may incur international roaming charges which can be pretty pricey. I'd contact Verizon Wireless about it.

    Tipping private car service

Yes, a tip would be appropriate, especially if the driver handles your luggage. Last year we used a car service to get to the port and a 20% tip was added to the cost of the round trip service.

Port Orleans Riverside Q&A Thread 2014 (Please read first post for FAQs!)

The movies are a lot of fun! A nice break from the parks in the evening. Last year our room was in Oak Manor, right near the courtyard where they play the movies. It was nice having our room close by if someone wanted to go get a snack or drink. We've done the fishing hole once, but...

    Departure question

Boarding starts earlier than 1 pm. Last cruise, we arrived at the port by 11:30 and didn't have a wait to check in. They had already called our boarding number, so we were let on the ship as soon as we were done checking in.

Port Orleans Riverside Q&A Thread 2013, Part Three (NOW CLOSED, see 2014 thread)

Yes, we did this in August :) We stayed for 9 nights at POR and then returned for 1 night at AoA after our cruise. Because we stayed at WDW for so long, we did have a lot of bags and didn't want to lug stuff that we didn't need on to the cruise. We spoke to Bell Services and they said it was...

Port Orleans Riverside Q&A Thread 2013, Part Three (NOW CLOSED, see 2014 thread)

I've requested a VIP cleaning twice. Both times I've just had my TA put in a request for it when my room package was reserved, I did not have to contact anyone special about it. When staying at POR and faxing in a room request, I also repeat the request for the VIP cleaning on that fax.

We've had a VIP cleaning done for our rooms before. It is essentially a deep clean for the room. The rugs are shampooed, they replace the air vent filters and do not use harsh chemicals.

They WILL see decorations. They start putting them up the day after Haloween. Trust me, we've been going that time of year for the past 4 years. As soon as that last MNSSHP is over they transform the MK for the holdiays. Usually by 11/2 they have their decorations up.

Port Orleans Riverside Q&A Thread 2013, Part Three (NOW CLOSED, see 2014 thread)

Not true. We've been going for the first week of November for the past 4 years, and usually by the middle of that week the parks have started putting up the Holiday decorations. We've even done MVMCP and the Osborne Lights that first week of November. It's true, though, that most of the...

They do not offer specific requests through online checkin, only the ones that you saw. If you have specific requests you should send in a fax stating what those are about 5-7 days before you check in.

I read that they used hot dogs for bait there too, not sure where but I did read it. It's not true, we did the fishing in November and they use worms for bait. There is a CM behind the rental counter, not sure if they'd be able leave and help you bait the worms though.

Port Orleans Riverside Q&A Thread 2013, Part Two [Thread now FULL and closed]

Like others have said, its usually easier to find cheaper airfare for weekday flights. We usually fly Jet Blue, and most of the time if they have a sale it only includes weekday flights. While it does sometimes happen, it's rare that they would discount a weekend flight. Another benefit...

I don't think you picked up on the sarcasm, he was probably referring to the fact that this is an FAQ thread about POR, not the Wishes Dessert Party ;)

Don't assume that the CS restaurants won't have dairy free options, Disney is wonderful handling food allergies/intolerances and go out of their way to make sure people are accommodated. Email special.diets@wdw.com and they will send you a list of various locations that can handle your need for...
