We stayed at the Miami Marriott (used points), but I would recommend the Holiday Inn near the port instead. It was cheaper, and was right across the street from a nice shopping area. The port was more crowded than the terminal at port canaveral, but the CM's kept things moving along.

You should check the description of your excursion. The Honeymoon Beach excursion I saw listed was for Honeymoon Beach on Water Island--which is another small island off of St. Thomas. The Turtle Cove on that excursion is on Buck Island.

It looks like a uniquely beautiful place--and we have the National Park Service passport--and I can't miss the chance to get it stamped in one of the most remote national parks!

We have cruised Disney twice before out of Port Canaveral--we just booked the Christmas cruise out of Miami! For folks who have cruised over the holidays before, what should we expect different than a "regular" cruise? Is there anything special on Christmas day?

If the carnival cruise stops in Port Canaveral (many of the NYC cruises do), you can plan a day trip to the parks--and get the disney fix that way. With the price differential you are looking at--you could throw in some other special shore excursions at other ports and still come out ahead...

Those are beautiful pictures==has anyone done this with a slightly younger child--my 10 year old would love to go--and the minimum age appears to be eight. Are the bridges frightening for a younger child?
