"UnOfficial" May 2013 planning thread. It's never to early to start planning!

32 days and counting until we're back at the CBR! Can't wait, but there's lots going on before then. Like eldest DS's college graduation, the reason for our trip, on "Star Wars Day" - May the 4th be with you all! :rotfl:

    ***the official may 2013 thread***

KangaT and company will be there 23-30 May. The crew will consist of DH, DMIL, 2 out of 3 DSs and one boy's girlfriend. She's not quite the Disneyholic that the rest of us are, but we're working on her! And dear friend Katie, a Disney intern, will be taking a night off to join us. Already...

Best restaurants for a couple with no kids

There are only a few real adults-only type restaurants in all of WDW. That said . . . At Epcot, the Japanese steak house Tappen Edo, is kind of like getting dinner and a show (without the price tag of Hoop-de-Doo, the Luau, etc.). DH introduced me to this type of restaurant 28  years...

    Must Dos at WDW

It's just not a Disney trip unless we see the fireworks from in front of Cinderella's Castle at the MK.

Coronado Springs Resort -- New Unofficial FAQ Thread -- November 2009

KatMark - thanks so much for the wonderful detail you've put into this thread! DH and I are coming to CSR 5/22 to celebrate our 20th anniversary. First time since the honeymoon we've been to WDW on our own. :woohoo: Can't wait!

    Who has the best spa?

I've only been to one of the WDW spas, but it was fantastic! Several years ago, my DH, DMIL and I each got a couple of treatments at the Grand Floridian's spa. There were plenty of services to choose from. They each chose a Swedish massage and relaxing legs treatment. I had a European facial...

??? Re: POR boat to DTD

Don't know if this still holds true or not, but when we stayed at POFQ a few years ago, the boat picked up at POR first, then went on to POFQ. Coming back it dropped off at FQ first then went on up to POR. Sorry, but I don't remember where it dropped us off.

Who's had massages at the GF?

DH, DMIL and yours truly all had massages the last time we were in the World while our 3 DSs took the Pirate Cruise. pirate: It was an awesome experience. All 3 of us were sooooooo relaxed for the rest of that day. The boys could have lit a rocket under my chair and it wouldn't have...

    which moderate resort?

We love PO's French Quarter. Small, easy to navigate (important for a visually impaired MIL), kids (3 boys 12 and under) love the slide at the pool and the food court's great. We've always done multi-generational trips and this resort suited everyone from 2-70. One of my favorite things is...

    Pirate cruise

When our boys did the Pirate Cruise, DH and I headed off to the Grand Floridian spa for a couple of their treatments. We staggered it a bit - DH had to leave for his massage about 10 minutes before they started loading the kids up on the cruise. After kids were on the boat, I went in for my...

    flying with your child

On our last trip in May, my 7 y.o. DS had problems the instant the plane started descending, despite having had 1/2 a Dramamine before we left home (pediatrician's recommended dose). Chewing gum didn't work, drinking didn't work, opening and closing his mouth didn't work. I tried helping him...

    Kids at WDW

Please be aware that many of those unrestricted rides can be quite bumpy. Snow White in particular is very jerky. And you "bounce" along on the Pooh ride. If you're prepared and your child doesn't mind, it can be a lot of fun. If you're not sure how baby will react, try starting off with...

Asking the in-laws to go to WDW.

DH and I have been to WDW 4 times - only once without our DS's and his folks. It was a wonderful vacation each time. I think the most important thing is to remember to discuss with all the adults what your expectations for the trip are. I worked out a full schedule for our last trip this...

ID for kids (was Proof of age (for children))

Many moons ago (9 years) we very nearly got burned by NOT having our oldest DS's (an only child at that point) birth certificate with us. We went to Canada. I booked everything through an agent. They went over the tiniest details with me - or so I thought. Until I called from our Canadian...

    DVC "expiring" and DVC II

We're very interested in the DVC, so I've been doing a lot of research lately. Looking through the threads on this forum, I've seen references to "when DVC expires" and "DVC II." Could somebody please explain these to me? I've gotten a bit confused. Thanks!

Does your child know what to do if lost?

Our kids (10, 7 and 4) were well rehearsed on what to do if we got separated. But to be on the safe side, we made ID cards for each of the kids and for DH and I to carry. Theirs had the names and a brief physical description of all the adults in our party, our hotel, home address and phone #...

JKW - read my prior post directly above yours. Pay special attention to the 2nd paragraph.

Someone who is just back. How are they doing baby swap now???

We used the baby swap in May on a couple of things (boy did my 4 y.o. hate the name of it!). We had 3 DS's, myself, DH and the MIL. It worked a little differently from ride to ride. Sometimes they had us all go in line together up to the loading area, then 1 adult and little DS stepped off to...
