    Bad Optics for DCL?

Good tip on tipping. I will step up the tipping as much as I can. My favorite tipping story: Frank Sinatra was at a hotel in Vegas and asked the bellhop what was the biggest tip he ever got. The guy said $100. Sinatra gave him $200 and asked, "Who gave you the $100 tip?" The guy said, "You...

Another factor DCL needs to consider is how many of the port workers are going to make it to work. Ticket agents, security guards, customs agents, fork lift drivers, dock workers, fuel pump operators, parking lot attendants, bellhops, janitors, maintenance people....all the behind the scenes...

    Is the Dream unsinkable?

This is kinda funny.....makes it sound like the car in front of me hit the brakes and I rear-ended the car and just kept pressing the gas. Ok, so the storm stalled......turn 90 degrees or 180 degrees and run! I would be soooo sick! I'm a little bit queasy now after reading your post. ;-)

    Bad Optics for DCL?

So by this time next week, hundreds of thousand of people in FL are likely going to homeless, without electricity, without water, without food, home destroyed, cars under water, FEMA and volunteers trying to help.....news and camera crews everywhere documenting the devastation..... But what...

You may be right....I may be crazy.....I even ride my motorcycle in the rain.... :-)

    Is the Dream unsinkable?

C'mon, that is like asking which one of our children do you like the best? :-) Each adventure was special in its own way but one holds a special place in my heart....the Baltic Cruise.....but not for what you might think. This was my Corvette. Ever since I was a kid I've wanted a Corvette...

I'm in the same boat! (pun intended). We are set to sail on the 15th. Plan to be at WDW the 13th and 14th. If they cancel the cruise we will spend 5 days at the Mouse House instead of 2. We have non-refundable first class air that we intend to use even if it gets us killed in hurricane...

    Is the Dream unsinkable?

Oh, that's a good point about the 'stabilizer' fins. I know it was speculation but in the movie (based on real life) The Perfect Storm showed waves so big it flipped their boat end-over-end! I'm always amazed when we do life boat drills and marvel at how many people the plan to cram into those...

    Is the Dream unsinkable?

You are absolutely right. Yesterday I found a map (on line) that showed exactly where CC is and I think they are gonna get hammered. The good news is they have had time to prepare. But still, if the cabanas and various huts and building get hit with 150+ mph winds they will end up in the...

    Is the Dream unsinkable?

Thoughts like what? Sinking? I would consider that the adventure of a lifetime! I would have loved to have been on the Concordia when she sunk. I mean how many people can say they've been on a sinking cruise ship?! We've been on about 15 cruises and nothing 'exciting' has ever...

    Is the Dream unsinkable?

Ouch! Yeah, that's a tough call when you are dealing with predicting the weather. If he had gone to a port and waited it out and then the storm turned out to be nothing then many people would be angry because they missed their flights home for 'no reason'.

    Is the Dream unsinkable?

So tell me about Sandy. We sail on the 15th of Sept...the first Dream sailing after the cancellations. My concern is DCL might be a little too anxious to get the Dream sailing again and making money and send us into the jaws of Jose - the storm behind Irma. My only concern really is motion...

    Is the Dream unsinkable?

"She's made of iron sir, I assure you she can sink" Certainly under the right circumstances she could sink....we saw that a few years ago with the Concordia. BTW, someboats are unsinkable. I have a tritoon (pontoon boat with three toons) that is virtually unsinkable as each toon has multiple...

    Is the Dream unsinkable?

Sailing on the Dream on 15 Sept and have been thinking about sailing into the storm. With all the modern technology, is the Dream unsinkable? In the movie Poseidon Adventure, a rogue wave capsized the ship and she sunk. Pretty sure they have radars to detect such phenomena and could turn into...

That is what I was thinking but am not in the know on these things. I just know if it were my boat I would not want to be moored to the dock when the 185 hit. Not just wind damage to the ship but all the debris blowing against the ship. Out at sea you have waves and wind but the ship is...

We are booked on the Dream on the 15th. So the ship will be empty when we board. Wonder if DCL will allow people to board early? Presumably all the rooms will be ready when we get on the ship. We are keeping an eye on Jose....the storm behind Irma. Hopefully it dies out and does not grow...

    Cocacay vs Castaway Cay

Did you rent the mask, fins and snorkels or did you bring your own? Do you remember how much the rentals are? Just wondering if it is worth the hassle/luggage space to pack our own.

    Cocacay vs Castaway Cay

Can anyone compare/contrast Disney's Castaway Cay with RCCL's Cocacay? We are sailing in the Bahamas next week on RCCL and they too have their own 'private' island. Any info or tips appreciated.
