For those of you that go often, can you suggest a wise time to book our hotel for a mid-June 2017 arrival? We will be staying for a week (about June 20-27) so the Stay More Save More would hopefully apply. The rates seem quite high right now compared to what we've paid in the past for this same time period.

Also, June 2017 marks the 20th anniversary of the release of HP and the Philosophers Stone. Anyone heard of any plans at UO to commemorate this?

I would book when you know you have the vacation time set

I book my hotel the book my flight, in that order

Your dates will be the start of crowds

Book now and pay the hotel deposit
Watch the room rates regularly

Call and modify your room rate when you see a drop, special rate or code that will save you money

Lock in your dates if you are okay with the rate
Modify that rate later

If it turns out prices do not drop but rise, you are still ahead financially

Rates can be high 6 months out but tend to drop later
Closer to your date in the summer, prices can rise in popular times

I always find smsm one of the better rates
If it is not out when I book, I modify my rate later when smsm does come out

Have not read any leaks on any plans to celebrate for the 20th

I booked a room only reservation for May 2017 last week for a standard room with smsm, and there aren't any left now for that rate. The first smsm rate available now is for a water view room at a higher rate for our dates, so I'm glad I booked early. I would do what Mac says and book as soon as you know your dates because you can always modify it later if it changes.

I would also book now and monitor the rates very very closely as you go forward. We stayed at HRH last May, booked very early, then about 3 to 4 months before trip, there was a bed and full breakfast rate offered at the Kitchen(full buffet).:thumbsup2 I grabbed that rate and it was not around for that long.
We REALLY enjoyed the full delicious hot breakfast buffet(made to order waffles, omelettes), delicious! ENJOY, maybe Volcano Bay will be opened when you go. As we really enjoy water parks, looking forward to returning sometime after Volcano Bay is opened.:goodvibes

I booked HRH a few months ago and I'm glad I did because the room category I booked is now no longer available. I won't be getting a better rate, I guess, but at least I got the room I wanted. Book now.

No a word re the anniversary. If you see something, please come back & post it.

Yes, the rates for dates I checked in early June made me gasp as double I what I've paid same time period in the recent past! No discounts out yet but still, terribly high. Seemed to be consistent thru the month. Hope they are just testing the water and they drop.

We are going in June 2017 also.... 3-10. I booked our room at RPR in March of this year and got smsm rate....we're going to just keep checking the rates and hopefully it will go down, but it's booked, which makes me happy. We also have our flight booked, so another thing off the list. The only thing we don't have is tickets .......

Sign up for the emails on Universal.... I got an email yesterday for 40% off hotels.... only good through December 2016. :crazy2::crazy2::crazy2: Fingers crossed we get something similar for 2017. macraven also gave me advice (on a previous thread) to check AP rates..... if the hotel is better (and available) at an AP rate, to get an annual pass. So that's why we're not getting any tickets yet.....

we're newbies too..... my advice, book the room and lock it in and keep tabs on it!

great post!

you can always buy park tickets.....even the day before you leave home and use kiosk pick up for them.

it takes maybe 24 hours for online purchasing of park tickets to be in the system and ready to pick up.

and a family only needs one Ap for the discounts for the family.
rest of the family could get tickets from UT

UO newbie here - just booked yesterday for early june at RPR because I wanted the standard room and it didn't look available at the others (or was more expensive? can't remember). Going to keep an eye on rates, but since we are only going 2 nights, I am guessing not much will change....

it could be they are not listed in the sytem yet this far out.

rooms are released frequently when you are this far out from your stay.

you can switch from the type of room you booked to standard when they become available.

call at different times to check

and you can modify your rate if you switch rooms.
