Everthing you wanted to know about Uber/Lyft at WDW

What is the status of Uber/Lyft pickup at MCO?
Used Uber last year for WDW to Universal and Universal to MCO & was very happy. Staying at Dolphin this time, so need a way to get from airport to Dolphin.

Standard services cannot pick up at MCO. Only Uber Black, which are licensed town cars, and more expensive than Mears taxis.

can multiple people use the code that is given when you sign up for uber or is it one time use?

We have family meeting us at MCO. I know in the past Uber couldn't pick up at MCO. But can they drop off at MCO? They are flying into Sanford and we all plan to spend the night at the Orando airport hotel.

Rob you still hanging around here??? ;) I need to ask a question. Are there any uber drivers that can carry a scooter?? My sister needs one to get around the parks and we are staying at the cabins in Fort Wilderness..looking at all the times to get here and there it seems to be a nightmare ... I'd love to give uber a try and get us to HS and AK faster than 50 minutes.. Thanks :)

Yes, drop off at MCO, but not pickup (except the high-priced Uber Black.)

Not Rob, but I'll tell you what a nightmare our stay at FW was with my mom using a scooter. FW is huge, you take a bus everywhere, to the pool, to the main gate to catch a bus to AK, HS or EPCOT or to the dock to take a boat to MK. Every bus has to be lowered to get the scooter on/off, causing a delay & dirty looks from some fellow passengers. The boats to MK are different sizes, only the largest can accommodate a scooter. We often waited for 2 or 3 smaller launches before a larger boat came. If there is already a scooter or 2 on the bus or boat, you have to wait for the next one.
If Uber can take your scooter, use them. Disney transport + scooter was awful.

Yep, still here! The scooter question comes up from time to time. It really depends what your equipment is. We all have unmodified vehicles...So if it can fit in a small/medium sized car trunk, uberX will work. I have a buick suv for uberXL and ive got scooters in here before that were designed to be broken down and easily transported.

Rob - do you know whether Uber drivers are allowed to pick up at the Cabins @ Fort Wilderness -- or if Disney Security "looks the other way"? I believe taxis are not supposed to go past the Outpost (check-in area), but it seems to me that it would be better for all involved (including Disney Transport & other Guests) to pick up a Guest with a scooter right at their cabin.

Correct. We are not supposed to go that way either. Everytime ive been through the booth thr security people have always reminded me.

So ... you would still need to take the bus from the cabin to the Outpost to connect with the Uber driver. The only thing Uber would save you would be the wait for the bus to the park.

You can also walk/ride the scooter to the Outpost. Except for a few VIP cabins near the Settlement, all the cabins are within 1/3-3/4 mi. walk to the Outpost. There are walking/bicycle trails along the main roads within the campground. Lighting is not great, so if you want to do this at night and your scooter doesn't have a good headlight, I suggest getting a headlamp (that straps around your head) with a tilt adjustment, and strapping it around your front basket.

Even if you rode the internal bus or drove the scooter to the Outpost, it would save a lot of time IMO. We often waited 10-15 minutes for a bus & longer if there was already a scooter and we couldn't fit. More time is saved at night going back to Ft Wilderness. One time it took 11/2 hrs from MK to our cabin. Also make sure you repeatedly specify Fort Wilderness, the cabins, not Wilderness Lodge as many people, including CMs & bus drivers, confuse the two.

Thanks Rob... I know the scooters break down and can be placed in a truck ... never have done it but I can give it a try... OK SO let me get this straight...call uber and then go to the outpost for pick up....we can do that...I appreciate your time .. PM me if you'd like to see if you are available on our dates...we'd love to use you as our Uber driver from the airport IF you make runs there.. she won't have a scooter then so we can all pile in .. Thanks..

I am considering taking Uber from Hollywood Studios to MCO on my last day so I don't have to go back to the hotel to catch ME. It's a short two day trip, so I'll just have my backpack with me. Since the trip is so short, I'm trying to squeeze in as much park time as I can. If my flight leaves at 3:15, what time should I have Uber pick me up? Thanks!

Im always hesitant to make a specfic time reccommendation...but consider this:
wait time for an uber to arrive at DHS: 1-2 minutes (there's likely going to be a bunch right across the street)
Travel time to airport: 25 minutes (the airport is a 21 mile straight shot down the highway)

Wait time at security: 5-10 for precheck, 20-40 for everyone else.

Im not uberBlack at the moment, which is the more expensive service thats the only option for mco pickups. MCO is also on a first in/ first out system for assigning cars.

We did Epcot to MCO yesterday for a flight that left at 6:30, plane started to board at 6:00 (Delta)
Two important items to note
We check our bags at the RAC, no bags to check at airport
We have PreCheck, so shorter security lines
We called for our Lyft ride at 4:30. We got to the airport at about 5:15 (very heavy rain slowed the drive)
There were about 10 people in the PreCheck line.
Made two bathroom stops and got waters and made it to the gate with about 10 to spare before boarding began. So 45 min before departure
That's too close for some but perfect for us. We don't want to wait at the airport, we want to walk up and board. I am fine if we walk up after boarding had begun, as long as we aren't on Southwest.

Has anyone actually taken Uber Black from MCO to a WDW resort?

Everyone keeps saying cabs are cheaper, but when I do the Uber Black fare estimator vs. Mears taxi, I get $60 for the taxi, $75 for the Uber Black. But, I always include a 20% tip on Taxi Rides, so that brings it to $72 vs. $75.

I am trying to debate which to do. Safety is my #1 priority, as I will be a solo female traveler.

I will be going to the Dolphin resort. It will be around 6pm on a Thursday.
