Forecast - thunderstorms next 10 days

That forecast should come as no surprise.
That is a typical summer 10 day outlook for Central Florida.
I believe they've been in a bit of a drought this summer like much of the east coast so they can really use that rain!
Generally the storms pass through mid-afternoon and don't last long but pack quite a punch.
But you really cannot rule out rain all day long especially considering that this time of year hurricane season steps up into high gear with September 10th being the peak.
And with the Atlantic being very active in the last week or so even if a full blown hurricane does not materialize you may be looking at a lot of rain.
I leave on the 1st and I'm mentally prepared for plenty of rain from invest 99 if it curves back around like most models say.

Just be sure to bring/buy a poncho and extra pairs of shoes so you're not walking around in soggy ones the entire time.
Those are about the only things you need to survive physically.
Now just prepare yourself mentally for the summer norm.

You're looking at the standard late summer forecast for central Florida. This time of year, there will likely be at least one thunderstorm somewhere in the Orlando area every day. That's what that forecast means.

It doesn't mean that there are definitely going to be thunderstorms where you are. It can be storming wildly in MK and sunny in Epcot. It also doesn't mean that there are thunderstorms all day long.

That's just the way the weather is in late August. You could go all week long with bright sunshine and not a drop of rain or a rumble of thunder, and the forecast is still correct because there were storms someplace else in the forecast area.
Thank you for this detailed update on the Florida forecast and how to interpret it. Visually and when you read the forecast its like doom and gloom for us non-floridians. I feel better now with your interpretation! We fly out tomorrow morning and stay till Thursday! I'm prepared rain or shine!

Actually, I was watching the weather here in NC this morning and they were talking about that tropical disturbance in the Caribbean. Most models predict it to head into the Gulf, strengthen, and then circle back toward Jacksonville.

We actually drove through Tropical Storm Fay in August 2008. It was a Friday afternoon and we were driving down at the same time. Raining like crazy but we were headed to Disneyworld. Who cared? It was even raining that evening as were walking to San Angel Inn but the weekend was awesome.

Long story short. Its Disneyworld. Don't let this bother you.

one year i was there and every single day it showed 90-100% chance of rain (like, each morning, it would say 90-100% chance of showers) and out of the entire week, we only saw rain once and lasted a few hours. Some days it did rain overnight.

It's been storming every day. But the storms are spotty. Yesterday, it was pouring, thunder, tons of lightning at my house lasting a couple hours. Went to pick up my son 10 minutes drive away and they didn't get anything!

We were at Epcot yesterday and enjoyed a beautiful, if HOT, day. Cabbed it back to the Contemporary to discover it had been pouring rain there! We've been here since Wednesday and the prediction has been thunderstorms and rain everyday, but we've had a beautiful trip and walked between the raindrops when necessary. Impossible tO know what next week brings, because forecasts are completely unreliable, but I can't imagine we'll have to cancel any plans outright. We were hear for a tropical depression a few years ago ... It rained 20 inches in a 36 hr period! It was a little bit of a bummer, but we had a spectacular time. Crowds were light and we learned a lot about our own resiliency! You will have a great time if you don't talk yourself out of it!

Here now and for another six days. Tons of sun and dry weather. Barely sprinkled on once yesterday and day before. Lots of warning via dark clouds beforehand. Both over quickly. Test track didn't even close during yesterday's rain.

No weather report for the past two weeks has said anything more than approx. 50% chance of a shower at some point daily. Not all day, not 100%.

You'll be fine. We come late August annually. Yes rain often does happen almost daily but never once have we had more than around an hour of rain in six or so years of coming this time.

Been here since Thursday and not once has the pool at our onsite resort been closed (they close for lighting in area) for weather. (For "unscheduled maintenance" daily for two days now, but that's human error not weather.)

HTH!

If it does rain and you wear glasses, it's nice to wear a baseball cap under the poncho. Unless you have windshield wipers on your glasses.

When things go wrong, it's going to be up to you to set the tone for te group. You may or may not be successful, but you can model resilience in the face of adversity.
Seriously ...... words to live by!!! That's all it takes is for you to accept the challenge!!! :thumbsup2

Looks normal to us too. We are headed down in a few days and have not seen any predictions out of the ordinary for our trip.

I am also going this week, but different weather apps say different things. Some say only scattered thunderstorms in the afternoon, those are my favorite apps! Really who can tell when it comes to the weather, lets just keep our fingers crossed!

As others are saying, the forecast looks essentially normal for the next ten days. A 60% chance of thunderstorms daily.

The only thing I worry about is getting there and our flight. We arrive on Saturday. As long as we get there when we are scheduled to, I'm fine. Seeing how hot it is going to be, I really won't mind some rain during our trip.. to cool things down even just a little bit. It's the heat I am more worried about than rain lol.

I'm also worried about our flight -- we're flying to Disney Friday evening. Fingers crossed for both of us that nothing's delayed or cancelled!

We were at Magic Kingdom today and it didn't rain until the afternoon. Just bring your ponchos and it'll be okay!

Flying in Thursday evening at 6pm. Trying not to stress about our flight being delayed!

There's really no point in checking the weather in Orlando. We locals just bring an umbrella everywhere we go or are prepared to wait it out. Today I walked into Target and the sun was shining. I got a latte and walked by the front doors--it was pouring buckets. It stopped by the time I got done. Typical Florida.
But on the DIS I just learned that we were supposed to be hit by a tropical depression today and people were actually thinking of cancelling their trips! Can you imagine how awful those people would have felt? Be like a Floridian, don't take the hurricane forecasts seriously until just a couple of days out, because most of the time they're flat out wrong. And enjoy your trip! Like others said, rain will help mitigate the ridiculous heat we've been having.
