Disney Package Delivery

I have been to disney numerous times but never took advantage of having the stuff that I bought delivered to the hotel... anyone out there every take advantage of this and were there any issues?

We've done it on most trips for at least some of our "stuff". It works quite well, the only down side is taking the time when purchasing to provide your resort information. You just pick your stuff up at your resort's store the next day.

I've used it several times with no issues. It's a really nice service, in my opinion.

One thing to note is that if you're staying club level, the concierge picks up the packages for you and takes them to your room. I didn't know that, and made a stop in the gift shop one time to pick up a package, only to find it had already been delivered to my room.

We used it several times on our trip last August and never had a problem. We bought quite a few Christmas decorations and they wrapped them really well - nothing broke.

Do it every trip and love it!! So nice not to carry around our purchases. Never had any problems at all. It was kind of fun all over again to open the purchases we had just made a day or two before. They'll remind you at the registers that you cannot use this service within a certain window of your departure (I think it must be more than 24 hours?) Unless they've streamlined it, checkout does take a short while longer because they used paper tracking slips last time we used it.
The only delay we ever had was, I think, a problem from the store and not the service itself. The custom TShirt store in Downtown Disney/Springs apparently didn't print the shirts we ordered, so they never appeared at our resort. THey ended up shipping them to our home free of charge.

How about with the Shop Disney Parks app? I think it lets you do it with that now, too. As far as I can tell you can scan the bar code on the item, pay through the app (including any discounts linked to the MDE account - AP, DVC) and have it sent to the front or to the hotel (I'm assuming it knows hotel info from MDE.) May try that this time around since it avoids having to fill out the slips. Has anyone done it that way yet, and is the pickup at the resort still the same?

I think I'm going against the flow here but we used it in previous trips and honestly I didn't love it overall. The idea of not carrying packages was awesome but I found the time spent filling out the paperwork to get it sent back, and then the few times we went to our resort to pick something up, it felt like it took forever. Either there was a line, our items were "hidden" or something. Plus we tend to not use the bus drop off at the main entrance to our resort (stay Moderate) and so it's a pain to go out of our way, so to speak, to pick our packages up. Our last two trips we have had a stroller so often times the item will stash nicely under the stroller or hang on the back, and DH doesn't mind holding items so we just buy our purchases as we are exiting the park (we usually take a mid day break) and take them back ourselves. It does have its benefits, not knocking that, just saying for us it's not something we will likely use often again.

you do have to fill out the paperwork, but it doens' ttake that long

as a PP stated - you can't use it within 24 hours of checkout due to it taking about a day to get to your resort

Agree that it doesn't take that long.

I've read that some people make personalized name/address/phone labels and print them on sticker paper to avoid this. Peel and stick instead of writing. But there is more than one copy (three parts I think?) so you'll need to plan for that.

Just thought I'd off that as a suggestion to those that don't like the paperwork part of this perk. :-)

if you go during a busy time of year ( christmasy week ) it may take longer then 24 hours to get to your room but normally it is 24 hours
but I have done it a number of times and it works great.

Always check your bag before you leave the counter when you pick up. We have used this service several times on every trip, but we ran into a little snag this last time. I picked the bag up from the resort store and one of my kids wanted something out of it right away. I noticed for the first time ever one item was actually missing! It was a smaller item and I imagine the gentleman who bagged our items at the world of Disney store probably missed the bag as he was talking up a storm with us as he checked us out! But, I told the CM at our resort right away and showed the receipt. They had the item for us by the next morning. Great service, but I would just check before you walk away from the pick up counter.

Yeah, I really wish they could get the info from our Magic Bands and then get a print out for us to sign!

Has this changed in recent years? Last time we were there in 2013 the packages were delivered directly to our room, we'd get back from the parks and all our purchases would magically be there on our beds. Or does it depend on hotel? We never stayed club level, but were at a deluxe.

We stay deluxe and our trips since 2011 were always delivered to the gift shops! I know years ago they delivered to your room. We stayed in POR back in 2002 and I think they delivered to our room then, but I don't remember.

Edit: now that I think about it we stayed WL, YC, and AKL in 2003,2006, and 2008 and we had to pick up at gift shop

I use it every trip, if you do split stays it can be a little challenging but I've found they let me send it to the next hotel if I'm moving the next day. I actually just let all mine stay in the gift shop and pick them up the night before we leave. That way there is no clutter in my room and I don't have to make multiple trips to the gift shop. And yes, years ago they used to send it to your room but they stopped doing that for the past 3 or 4 years. The only time I don't do it is if it's our last full day, then I send them to the gate because I'm not walking around with packages. After I pick them all up at the gift shop, I try to combine as many as possible in one bag and use the other bags for dirty clothes so I'm not carrying so many packages to my car.

We love to use it. Our kids are older, so when they make a purchase it is usually something they don't want to carry around all day. It didn't take long (at least to us it didn't seem so - it was worth the time it took!)

I actually really missed that option when I was there for just one day with my Mom in November. We shopped around, and made note of where the things we needed to buy were. We left MK for our dinner at GF, and then came back after dinner to hit the stores for our purchases, and then left for the day. Pain in the butt!

Only used this service one time (a few years ago). Purchased 3 HM collectibles and had them sent to our resort BLT, had to pick up at the Contemporary. All 3 items were broken and it was a big PITA to get replacements. You would have thought someone should have taken care of it for me, but no, I had to go back to the shop where I purchased and return the items. I won't use it again.

I love this feature. I use it for pretty much everything I purchase. It is so much easier than carrying bags around the parks.
They deliver your stuff to the gift shop, and usually will leave a message for you to let you know when the packages arrive. It has never taken me more than maybe two minutes to pick up the packages. So easy and convenient.

We use it a lot and never had an issue. Like PP mentioned that you have to go to the gift shop to pick up and that may be time consuming for some. We stay mostly at Mods, but we almost always get off at the main depot (even if our room is on the other end of the resort) so that is not a big deal for us.
