Maelstrom had the load and unload station combined. An entire brand new queue. The former load station was redone and two new scenes were added, the track in that spot was made into an s shape as well instead of a straight section. Frozen also had a bunch of brand new AAs.

The ride will physically stay the same for ToT but the theming will change. The exterior and queue will be the most extensive but I think the actual ride will be a lot of projection work which will be the added.

If this happened to DHS ToT, we would see riots. People love the DHS version and most consider it the best of them all.

I should have clarified and agree with you. Universe = OK, Tower in WDW = not OK

The ToT ride systems are also quite a bit different between the two coasts. A reworking in California may not be consistent with the way the ride is set up in Orlando.

Star wars and marvel are going to ruin Disney Parks in the end..

Guardians of the galaxy of all things? Give me a break. TOT is iconic. The dislikes on the youtube video make me laugh. All the negative comments on their Facebook page make me laugh.

Nobody wants this and Disney does not care.

I can personally deal with Star wars though, its neat. But if I want super hero type stuff, or marvel, I would go to Universal/IOA.

Marvel should not be in Disney parks.

I think this is shortsighted. It's the die-harders who follow this stuff closely and post. That's not representative of most Disney park goers. Give it some time, and many of the people who will frequent that park won't even know that it used to be a different ride. Most people just move on. Most people aren't deeply -- or even slightly -- affected by this or any one Disney decision. There's far from enough reason to conclude that "Nobody wants this and Disney does not care".

I say all of this as someone who would be REALLY disappointed if they did this in WDW!! But I don't expect Disney to run its business based on my preferences. Nor those of a relatively small die hard group.

They NEVER make a decision that EVERYONE is happy about. No company can!! You name it, and someone or group on here forecasts the end of Disney as we know it. None of them have been right yet! Doesn't mean that WON'T happen at some point, but if it does, it won't be because they rethemed ToT. As much as I'd personally dislike it.

Agree completely. I'm so thankful they are legally prohibited from putting Marvel attractions in WDW.

I think that Star Wars and Marvel can ABSOLUTELY have their places in Disney parks!! Disney DESPERATELY needed something in this space years ago, and astutely acquired these properties and is enhancing them. They'd just have to do better than retheming one ride to create a real Marvel presence... And it sounds like they have that planned. And I say ALL THIS as someone with zero interest in Marvel. It's smart business.

They aren't out of money or ideas they just want to do things cheap. IPs and doing things cheap is the Bob Iger way.

Doing things cheap? But they spent 5 billion on Shanghai, and plan to spend 2 billion just for Disneyland.

1. Neither property are going to ruin Disney parks. Star Wars has been in Disney parks for decades.

2. Guardians was a very popular movie. I would also say that many thought the ToT in DCA is less superior to the DHS version.

3. Now that I will agree with, Disney does not care.

4. Why shouldn't marvel be in Disney parks? Disney owns it.

Yeah I know Guardians is this weird exception to the whole thing (which I don't really understand)... but overall we won't be getting a Marvel Land any time soon. I'm fine with Guardians replacing something like Ellen's Energy Adventure... but ToT is sacred land.

Well they spent well more than 5 billion on shanghai and not all of that money was from disney. I will also say that costs of building things are way higher in China than it is in the US. Some corners were cut at that new park though.

$2 billion on Disneyland is big but we need to see how well they spend that first. This ToT redo isn't a good start.

I would say the Maelstrom/Frozen redo was another cheap addition costing around $100 million and retro fitting and existing ride when they should've built something new.

The contract is hard to interpret at times but thats why we have lawyers for those things.

I would say ToT isn't sacred anymore now that this has been announced.
