Ok, one more question :scratchin I saw on the website that views for standard main building rooms include Magic Kingdom. Which standard rooms have MK views? I'm assuming they can't see the castle, maybe just Space Mountain? I couldn't figure it out from looking at the room layouts.

Edited: I think I figured it out, looks like some of the courtyard rooms can see Space Mountain :-)

I have a GF RPC room question. We have booked a theme park view room and I'm wondering if any of these rooms have a King bed? I will ask this on the CL board as well. TIA!

Re RPC: What floor is the secret elevator on that will take us down to the courtyard pool?

Any other little secrets? I noted there is a balcony on the 3rd floor that looks out over the lagoon.....I'm sort of going backwards in this thread trying to weed out all of the stuff that pertains to us! I have standard room booked and I'm requesting "close to lounge on 3rd or 4th floor." I also have noted to be in the lounge during the scones serving time .

Seems like you have your resort time very well planned TJA... my only other recommendation would be to make sure that you spend some evening time in the lounge enjoying the GF Society Orchestra and the pianists too....:cloud9: So relaxing after a day int he parks...

Hi everyone, I have a couple of questions, we are staying at the GF for the first time this coming August and we need a room with a roll in shower, this is what we booked and here is what my reservation says "Room Type: OutBldg-Gd WChrAcc RollIn OptHr 2Q" does this mean we will for sure get that type of room or is there any chance that when we arrive they say our handicap room with roll in shower was just a request and not garentueed? This is the first year we've done Disney with a wheelchair so I'm super new to needing some different things in a hotel room than we normally need.

Also does anyone know what buildings the handicap accessible rooms with roll in showers are in? On touring plans it only shows 8 rooms that have that feature but only in three buildings (Main building, Big Pine Key and Boca Chica) and some of them are in a higher category than I booked so I'm wondering if maybe there are more rooms in other buildings or not? Disney wasn't super helpful as they told me the only Handicap rooms with roll in showers were in the main building, but that has to be wrong since I only booked a standard view. I'm just trying to figure out if all the rooms that fit our needs are in the same building or not. I'm not sure if I should request a certain building or anything since our main priority is the shower setup though we'd love a nice view and a balcony.

Thanks for any info, I'm very excited to stay at the GF as I've been trying to stay there forever and this resort will round out the the MK area for us, as we've stayed at all the other MK area resorts.

The room category that you have booked guarantees that you will have a HA with a roll in shower room...I do believe that there are GV HA rooms available in each of the outer buildings.. personally I would suggest BPK for easy access to the main building with a wheelchair..and Congrats on your first GF stay! :goodvibes

Hi all! I just switched up our upcoming trip and we're now staying RPC, yay! It will be our first GF stay and I am so excited. I've been looking at rooms on TouringPlans and I see some are listed as Deluxe Rooms with two queen beds. I don't see that booking option, only the King Deluxe rooms. So, I'm wondering how you get one of those queen bed deluxe rooms. It it something you just have to request and hope for the best or am I just overlooking it in the room list for booking? Thanks!!

Another GF first timer....Welcome! and Congratulations to you too! You are in for a treat! The GF is just grand no matter what room category...but in RPC especially so! :lovestruc As others have mentioned for whatever reason Queen deluxe rooms in RPC ( which is a specific bookable category) have to be booked by calling...strange since king deluxe can be booked online :confused3...But standard CL rooms happen to be offer a good amount of space at 440 sf for most...and have lovely views of either the courtyard /courtyard pool area...or the VGF/beach pool/Poly area...

We have one of those rooms booked for May. I believe there are six at the most. We tend to book about a year out in order to secure a deluxe queen. Sorry if we stole your room type!

You are absolutely right there are exactly 6 and two of them are HA and have a roll in shower... (4319 and 4419)

I hope you have a great stay!

As for the Deluxe Queen rooms, 4320 and 4420 overlook the Courtyard Pool, facing Boca Chica. They are rectangular but spacious. They also have connecting doors for the neighbouring rooms. 4322 and 4422 overlook the Lagoon, Beach Pool, Villas and the Polynesian. They are irregular in shape with a entry area distinct from the living space. 4422 has a double balcony and is found in a little hallway off the main atrium. 4320 has a deeper bathtub. I have no idea about the other two Deluxe Queens- I believe they have six of this room type. But, I can tell you that any of these rooms are comfy. They remain our favourite GF rooms.

Thanks for the detailed info follow....:thumbsup2 Great descriptions too...On page one of this thread there are room layouts that give a good visual layout of these rooms as well for those that are interested...:goodvibes

Blue great pics. Really looking forward to August. Monday is our ADR date! I think I must go have my shrimp & grits at GF Cafe.
How was Gaspys? Wish they still had the Lobster Mac & Cheese!!

Welcome Sue...:goodvibes Woohoo...ADR date is almost here!!! :woohoo: Do you have your list ready...Its always about the food!!! ::yes:: Those shrimp and grits at GFC are scrumptious....As for the lobster mac and cheese...I think that I saw them on a menu last week...if I could just remember where....:confused3

Hi Blue! Thanks for the pictures. So hoping that we can get to Disney again within in next 10 years! DS told me that he has applied for Disney internship for the summer and for next semester. If he does go to Disney, what kind of mother would I be if I didn't see him and have him stay at the GF!

How was the weather? Looks sunny, but a bit chilly.

Hey MommyG Best of luck to your DS...:wizard: I happen to agree...a good mom would visit her child in the Disney CP program...and often too! :goodvibes;)

Standard rooms in the main building..which would be described on the reservaton as "main building -standard room-CL"...do not have MK views.....they have views of the courtyard/courtyard pool or of the VGF/beach pool/Poly area...MK view rooms are a specific bookable room category..which would be "main building-theme park view-CL" so if a TPV is your preference..than you should def book that category... Hope that clarifies the room categories and views for you....:thumbsup2

loveshak Been thinking of you and hoping that your journey is going well!

Got to cross paths with BC1839 and his lovely wife again this year...Dis meet ups are always fun...

and...some resort news... was informed by a bellman about a new event that will be taking place at the GF...it will be a tour..complete with the history of the resort...on the order of the Boardwalk Ballyhoo Tour...Exciting news to us GF fans for sure...I think it will be starting with in the next few weeks...:thumbsup2

Hope that all of my fellow GF fans are having a fab Friday....:earsgirl: GF gal who will be back to post more pics tomorrow....

Disneytam The only king rooms with a TPV are the deluxe king rooms that are located on the 2nd floor of the resort...they are the floor right above Gasparillas...and while they do have lovely views (and a nice garden tub)...even if a bit distant...if you do book this category..beware of the tree room... which Trish and pas had which is 4201....The rooms span from 4201 to 4209....

The general TPV rooms...which have 2 queen beds and a day bed are also in this same wing of the resort...but are located on the 3rd and 4th floor....

Thank you Blue. I don't want the rooms on the 2nd floor so will be happy just leaving it alone or asking for the fourth floor to be on the same floor as the lounge.

Enjoying those lovely Grand pics blue skies! Hope you got some rest last night, and bundle up its going to be a cold weekend in the NE.

Very glad Tom left the GF intact for you, he's the best :)

Disneytam RPC will restore your faith in the Grand, I just know you'll have a Grand time!!!

Hey Blue - Thanks for the beautiful pictures. Looks like you had the place all to yourself!! Its so nice being able to find the time to visit everyone again. How was all the new GF merchandise?

Hello to everyone else... Have a very Happy Valentine's Day:love: if I don't get back before Sunday!!

Blue thanks for the tip about all buildings having handicap accessible rooms with roll in showers! I sent an email to disability services and got a call back from a nice woman who told me that all buildings at GF have at least one or more handicap rooms with roll in showers so I can request any building I wanted. Since I don't really know the resort grounds well I told the woman I was speaking with that we just wanted to be as close to the resort amenities as possible (restaurants/main building, pools, buses) and to possibly note that we'd like to be connecting or at least near the other party we are traveling with, she said that was a better request than a specific building so I went with it. Only negative is that she told me all the rooms that fit my need for the roll in shower will be on the first floor, not my preference to be on the first floor of any building but I'll deal with it.

Maybe that info will help someone else who needs a Handicap Accessible room at the GF.

Thank you! I think I was just confused because the website lists MK view under Standard Rooms as well, I figured it was just more of an obstructed Space Mountain view. Sadly I don't think TPV is doable for us this trip, maybe next time :-) I'm sure we can make the standard rooms work. My twins will be almost 2 and hopefully still in pack n plays so the extra room is really what I'm looking for. It looks like max occupancy on the deluxe queens is 4 anyway so that's a no go for us with 3 kids.

Tom Thsnks for leaving the place in good shape for us!!! :goodvibes

Wishes Hey there!!! Great to see you around here!

Grannyminnie, Trish, Dispro ,pas, follow, Mexi, TJA, loveshak, Lisann...and everyone else too...hope that you had a terrific Thursday. ..tired GF Gal...who loved being at my happy place!

PS...Lotsa good food..along with pics to share. .CL did not disappoint...and was as lovely as ever...
Welcome back, Blue, and thanks for all the pictures! Glad you had a fab time! :thumbsup2 Gotta start counting down to the next visit now!

Hi again, Wishes! I have a trip coming up in about a month! Going to the World for the first time ever on my birthday and I'm so excited!:jumping1: Not staying at the Grand but just to be down there will be awesome! :thumbsup2 Everything's fine with me. Glad you are still enjoying mother/daughter time together....

It's pretty unlikely that a Deluxe Queen room would be available if you are going in May, but I wanted to let you know that if you call to ask about these rooms, they are actually just listed as Deluxe Room Main Building CL and not as Deluxe Queen as we all refer to them on here. Some newbie CMs get really confused if you ask for Deluxe Queen because it only specifies bed size on the Deluxe King Main Bldg CL rooms. I think they can see that the Deluxe room has 2 Queen beds if they pull up the room description. Although the Deluxe Queen room says occupancy of 4, that does not apply if you have one in a crib. I was told 4 and an infant in a crib is allowed, but I'm not sure about two cribs?? They were actually supposed to change the occupancy max on this room since a Queen size sleeper sofa was added when they renovated, but someone dropped the ball BIG TIME! The rooms would easily sleep 6 now just like the deluxe rooms at some other resorts allow>:(! We have even had a rollaway in these rooms several times when my girls didn't want to sleep together. It never hurts to call and ask again if the Deluxe room is available for your dates:)

I'm not sure the rooms will be available or if you would want to spend that much more money, but those other Deluxe rooms in the main building that Blue mentioned (4419 and 4319) have roll in showers...I know because they accidentally put me in 4419 last October but we moved to 4320 since I had to have my garden tub;) They may be booked since they are Deluxe rooms, but it wouldn't hurt to ask since these rooms are on the third and fourth floors (instead of the first floor that you don't really want), plus you would be in the main building so access would be super easy!

Yes Blue, I am putting together a list! GF Cafe, Kona?, Plaza, Sci Fi, Trails End, both a dinner and for my leaving day breakfast, plus 2 places we haven't been. Trattoria and Portabello. And AMC fork & dine. One day I'd like to check out the food trucks at DTD.

I was thinking of checking out Olivia's I think in OKW, I hear they have shrimp & grits, but don't want to be disappointed! I tried Boatwrights version, and it was ok, but not GF!!

Thank you all for the warm welcome back...:goodvibes....

Looking through my pics...and realized where I had seen the lobster Mac & cheese...at Narcoosees. ...how did I forget that...lol....someone at our table actually had it as a side dish ...

For you Sue...20160208_193733.jpg 20160208_202829.jpg

Btw...your ADR list looks great....

Wishes..There is A LOT of new resort specific merchandise. ..But for some reason...I don't have any pictures...:confused3...there are GF logo hoodies..tee shirts..even a sweater like top...GF pillows...I needed a few of those...cups...pens..the general stuff...a truly nice variety...all available in May Mouse Mercantile. ..

Summer Lace had quite a bit of new things too..particularly some new VB purses... I did take some pics of those. ..20160210_192517.jpg
Oh..and for Trish...some Lilly stuff...20160210_192453.jpg

Oh my gosh I would love to stay in the main building but I'm booked with a special rate that is only available for garden view rooms. The rate is just to good to pass up, not sure I could justify going from that to paying full price for a room in the main building. Thanks for the info about the rooms in the main building though, I'll try this year in an outter building and if it's super inconvenient maybe next time we will look into booking a room in the main building! Glad to know there are rooms with roll in showers in the main building in case we want to try that some time, maybe for a short trip we could try it, only problem is I know I'd be hooked and that could be dangerous!
