"I'm so stuffed I think I need to roll around on the ground for awhile" A Jan 2016 Dining Report

Tuesday January 19-snack

After we had our fill of Animal Kingdom we went back to the resort for a short rest before we headed to Hollywood Studios for the night. We were staying for the 7pm Fantasmic show and wouldn't be eating dinner until after so we grabbed a snack at one of the carts near the Great Movie Ride. We split a Mickey Pretzel with cheese sauce and a Churro with chocolate sauce. Not much to say here, they were both good although I wish they served the cheese sauce warm instead of room temp. The only place I have found that serves it warm is the Lunching Pad at Magic Kingdom.

Tuesday January 19-dinner

After seeing Fantasmic we made our way out of Hollywood Studios and started the walk back to the Beach Club. My husband works for ESPN so he had been wanting to eat at the ESPN Club at the Boardwalk for awhile. Plus he heard they had a beer local to Florida that he wanted to try so I think that was the larger reason lol. After putting our name in with the hostess he said it will be a few minutes so we went to stand in the waiting area and as soon as we did that he called our name to be seated. It wasn't busy at all. There were some people at the bar and a loud wedding party/reception  in the dining area but other than that there were only a few other tables occupied. The menu is typical pub/chain restaurant food. DH ordered the Pulled Pork Grilled Cheese (Barbecued Pork, Cheddar, Cheese Sauce, and Market Slaw on Texas Toast 12.99) and I ordered the Philly Cheesesteak (Traditional-style with choice of Cheese and served with choice of Cucumber Salad or French Fries 14.99) I had the cheese steak with american cheese and asked the waitress to add peppers and onions since it didn't come with any. DH and I split the meals. I was really surprised because I expected more flavor in the pulled pork grilled cheese but it not as tasty as it looked. There just seemed to be too much bread too. The cheese steak was very good though, the steak was cooked nicely and the peppers are onions were very fresh. The fries were nothing to write home about and tasted like they sat in the freezer too long. DH and I agreed that the cheese steak was the best out of the 2 meals. On the bright side DH really enjoyed his beer :) We probably won't make it a point to come here again but it was nice to try something new especially since ESPN club doesn't take reservations so you don't need to plan in advance. download (11).png

Wednesday January 20-Breakfast

On this day we had a pre-park opening ADR at Be Our Guest. I was super excited for this because I had eaten breakfast there in Dec on my solo trip and loved it. It was also a PPO ADR so I was done eating and able to ride Seven Dwarf's Mine Train twice before the park even opened! Of course, this time things didn't go as swimmingly as the prior month and we were about 15 minutes late and didn't end up being done until 9AM. Thankfully we had a fast pass for SDMT for later that day. On to the food! I had the Croissant Doughnut (Fried Doughnut topped with Banana-Caramel Sauce, Pastry Crème, and Chocolate Ganache served with fresh Fruit and a selection of pastries 24.00) It was very good! I had it in December as well so I knew I would like it. I don't eat eggs so I was pretty limited on what I could get here but I enjoyed my breakfast. DH ordered Eggs Florentine (Puff Pastry Shell filled with Scrambled Eggs, Cheese, and fresh Spinach served with Country Ham, Roasted Plum Tomatoes, and a selection of pastries. 24.00) He really enjoyed it and admitted that it was the best breakfast he had all week! We both enjoyed the pastries as well except for the strange brown muffin. I have no clue what it is but it didn't taste good at all! The decor of this place is amazing and I can't wait to try lunch on our next trip!

Wednesday January 20-Dinner

Apparently we must have skipped lunch this day because I have no pictures of any food between breakfast and this dinner! We went to Disney Springs and had my absolute favorite- EARL OF SANDWICH!! I absolutely love this restaurant and make a point to eat here at least twice each trip. We discovered this gem back in 2009 and when we first starting going here it was NEVER EVER busy. Apparently the word has spread because the place is always packed to the gills now. I had my usual- The All American (Turkey, cheddar, cranberry sauce, lettuce, Roma tomato & ranch dressing) but I always get mine without the cranberry sauce. DH got his old standby-The Original 1762 (Roasted beef, cheddar & horseradish sauce) We also both got chips, and shared a side of Mac and cheese. Apparently we were famished from skipping lunch :rotfl2:
Of course we LOVED it all and Earl of Sandwich will continue to receive our business as well as harassing Facebook posts begging them to open a restaurant near my house :lmao:

Wednesday January 20-Late night snack

After a light dinner at Earl of Sandwich :rotfl:we made it back to our hotel and decided to hit up Beached and Cream for another yummy sundae to share. I had been telling DH how everyone in the world seems to think that the NO WAY JOSE sundae is to die for months before our trip so even though I wanted the Milky Way sundae again I took one for the team and we ordered the No Way Jose (A Peanut Butter and Hot Fudge delight featuring Chocolate and Vanilla Ice Cream, Peanut Butter and Chocolate Morsels, Whipped Cream, and a Cherry 9.00) It was very good but a bit rich for me. DH loved it and was pretty happy when I waved the white flag after eating about a 1/4 of it. He finished it up happily. Sadly, this was our final visit to Beaches and Cream this trip. We are looking forward to going again in Sept and attempting the Kitchen Sink with our 2 kids!

DH had The Samoan (Poached Eggs with Hollandaise served over Smoked Pulled Pork Hash 10.99). He was really excited to try this because I had been telling him about the positive reviews I've been reading about this dish. He said it was just ok but there wasn't much pulled pork on it.
Oh, man. Sorry to hear this dish didn't impress. I'm torn between this one and the pineapple macadamia nut pancakes for our upcoming trip. Or maybe I'll go for the tonga toast...
