I looked at the thread and it hasn't been commented on since August...just wondering if anyone has any suggestions...we don't want to leave our car there as we will park at the airport...just wondering if anyone has any good hotel recommendations for near the buffalo airport.
thanks

We stayed at the HIE across from the airport in 2014 (one room stay-n-park and another using AM). Reasonably clean (3.5 out of 5 on a HIE scale), a busy hotel, and proximity to the airport meant we were there less than 5 min after checking out. Do not know the advantage of parking at the airport as opposed to the hotel as we had no issues and the shuttle to was right there when going and was less than a 5 minute waiting when getting back (I went alone and grabbed our vehicle and all were just getting to the pick-up area with luggage as I arrived back)

The stay-n-park room provided decent savings over a stay alone and parking at the airport. What I liked about parking here is you are parked with other guests (we were right across from the lobby front door) and not parked off-site from the hotel like a few of the other stay-n-park options in the area.

Hardis, which one you prefer HIE over Days Hotel Buffalo when comes to extended parking as they are both right across?

I have not stayed at the Days Inn there (it is actually almost at the light to turn into the airport) so could not compare the two personally. We have an affinity for HIE (can get good discounts on) but the Days Hotel is rated a few spots higher in TripAdvisor.

The Days Inn is just barely OK. I would only stay there again if the park/fly rate were under $100. It is not worth any more than that. Some Disers have had good experiences there and some have had very bad experiences. I was not thrilled with the sketchy bar and it's occupants that is in the lobby. The room could have been a little cleaner and you hear everything in the hallway.

Ask @Gina-Gina-Bo-Bina about her experience which was probably the worst

Better choices are the Hilton, Hampton, Sleep Inn, Holiday Inn. A little further away is the Marriott, Double Tree and Homewood Suites. I'm staying at the Aloft in March and I expect it to be very nice....it's new and anything under Starwood is great.

Do I get anything special for that? A t-shirt maybe? Or a button? :rolleyes2

To expand on dancin's intro, we have stayed their three times.

First experience (December 2012)....great. Clean, friendly staff, no complaints at all.

Second experience (October 2015)....awful. A par-tay across the hall that spilled its way out INTO the hall was allowed to go on and on throughout the night. Yes, we called the front desk to plead for their intervention.....4 times!!!....but we were told they "couldn't do anything about it, because the occupants of the party room were all black and the staff were all white, so things will get messy when the police are called". I kid you not. We ended up getting less than 2 hours sleep before our wake up call.

We gave them another shot in December 2105. This time, we ended up with a whole room of rowdy, obnoxious, beat-on-the-walls marijuana smokers next door, who polluted the air so badly that we ended up with a smoke eater in our room all night to clear the stench. It took 1 phone call and THREE personal visits to the front desk before anything was done about them, the final time where I forced the front desk staff to come with me down the hall to smell with his own nose whatever the heck they were smoking in that room (and hear the racket emanating through the walls). Because pot smoking in a hotel is illegal in NY state, the police were called this time and the offenders were carted away by the sherrif's office. Once again, we ended up only getting a couple of hours sleep before our early morning wake up call.

To be fair, there are good amenities here for the price: decent pool, large hot tub, small exercise room, free breakfast that starts at 4 am, great proximity to the airport, and we have had no problems at all with the cleanliness of the rooms. They were also taking Canadian money at par when we were there at Christmas.

Its an older hotel, though, so the decor is rather dated. Definitely not super modern or wonderfully plush.

that's horrible. my only interest is, to park a car for two weeks. if you guys think of any other Hotel which can provide extended safe parking, I'm all ears.

You get the gold medal. Just because I like ya I'll throw in some ear plugs and snacks(for the munchies).

We are staying at the Aloft in March, booked through parksleepfly.com. I have not used this site before but the prices are much less then anywhere I have found. We got the hotel for March break with 10 days parking for $119 plus tax. You pay 20% on booking and the rest at the hotel which I like as I have US cash left over from previous trips.

I did have to change dates and I called the hotel directly to change no problems so I do know the reservation is there.

Aloft has good ratings on tripadvisor so, just hope the parking and shuttle work out. We have a 6:00am flight, anyone know what type the security line opens as we plan on going carry on only?

We were using the days inn. But we also like the Staybridge Suites booked through trinity reservations, for $125 including tax and up to 14 days parking! I just booked the Best Western the Inn Buffalo airport for our March vacation it was a $109 including 2 weeks parking. But was able to use a 1050 airmiles and book the room and parking for $26 cdn.

WOW Gina-that is crazy! We stayed at Days Inn once quite a few years ago. It was a really cold March and the room itself was VERY cold. I can usually sleep fine in the cold but the blankets were super thin/lightweight and that was enough for me to not go back because there are honestly sooo many other hotel choices in the area. We have stayed many times at Holiday Inn Express and never has any problems but we did find on the last stay that it is really showing its age. I also like using Trinity Reservations and booking the Staybridge Suites, that is one of the best deals out there but it is a bit farther from the airport

We've stayed at the Hampton Inn and Town Place Suites - both right across from the airport. Both hotels were amazing. Beautiful breakfasts, nice pools, nice rooms. We parked at both for our stay and had great shuttle service. Parking was right beside the hotel, and I felt very safe leaving my vehicle there. These are a bit more expensive than other hotels along that strip, but we had time to spend in the pools, and really enjoyed our stay there.

We have stayed at the Hilton Garden Inn. We loved it as the room we had was bigger with two beds and a couch in the other half of the room. We have also stayed at the Days Hotel and it was okay. The free breakfast was good but nothing to awesome about the hotel. However, the first time we came home we landed about 6pm and arrived to find our minivan had a flat tire :sad2: the staff helped us out by getting one of the guys from the nearby car shop to come and assist us. Not a great way to end the vacation but they were really helpful.

In August 2014, we stayed at the Holiday Inn Buffalo (Regular, not express). Our room was VERY clean and the front desk staff were very helpful and friendly! The shuttle to the airport was very convenient...you book your shuttle at the front desk for whatever time you need. It was very prompt and took less than 5 mins to get us to the airport. There is a family restaurant onsite which we enjoyed dinner at and a Denny's right next door which we took advantage of for breakfast before our flight. There is an indoor hot tub and beside that an outdoor pool (which my teen nephew got a kick out of jumping into after warming up in the hot tub!).

I usually use the Days Inn. I've never had an issue there, but it's been about a year since I've flown out of Buffalo, as I've been finding comparative rates out of Toronto. The Days Inn has been offering a lot of discounts as of late to Canadian travelers.

I had a really bad experience at the La Quinta, and would not go back there. We were woken up around 2 in the morning as the couple across the hall left their child in the room alone while they went out drinking. The child locked the chain lock, and could not be woken up to unlock it. After about a half hour of banging, yelling and screaming, they finally woke the child up so she could unlock it. When we went up to meet the shuttle just after 5, we mentioned something to the front desk clerk about the noise, and he just walked off and ignored us. After experiencing a similar level of friendliness from a different desk clerk upon check in, we said we'd never stay there again.

Thanks...just used airmiles to book the best western too :)

Just so your aware i called them today and told me i had to pay $40 for parking for the week. But only paying $27 for the night in cdn still worth it.

Thanks...we arrive late coming back so we are going to park at airport anyways to make it easier and avoid having to take shuttle etc....economy at the airport is only 50 for the week and there is a 5 coupon on their website if that helps you
