Official 2016 Princess Half Marathon Thread

I think by "Dopey" they meant pants with the logo of the Dopey Challenge, not Dopey the character, unfortunately.

oops! thanks for the info.

10K Corral Placements are never posted just like 5K aren't. You will know your corral placements when you pick up your Bib.
thank you, I didn't know that. Thats why I asked. This will be our first experiences with run disney.

I wasn't even planning on buying merch at all, but now I am seized with a desire to just buy, buy, buy- eek! I'm curious what the pre-order jacket looks like too. Hope I like it!
And I finished my half costume! If you see a brunette Aurora trying to wake herself up at the start, say hi!! :D

YES! wth?? Suddenly I am having terrible anxiety and fear I wont get anything i wanted. What time should I get there Thursday??

Two things. First, how are you guys feeling about the glitter and glow package? Aside I mean from the fact that it's a obvious money grab. I like light up tiaras but wearing makeup before a run seems like a disaster. And if you already wear makeup before running you probably know what works best for you, not something I'd want to try.

And the second, my workplace is spreading a cold. It seems like more people have it everyday. Anyone else struggling not to get sick this close to the race.

YES! For almost 2 weeks now everyone in my house has been SICK! Went to pediatrician last night to find out my 2 year has pneumonia! PRAYING this flu/pneumonia/stomach bug stay the heck away from me! Luckily it hit before we left and kids will be fine by this time next week!

Also, does anyone know if they restock merch? I'm trying to figure out the best time to get there Thursday. I'm only doing the 5/10K so will that stuff be easier to find?

6.5 miles on the treadmill today. I had to stop and turn the fan on because it was so hot in there! Then I treated myself to an expensive latte from the mobile coffee guy.

On thing I learned today... my compression socks are not made for long distance runs. I have a blister now from them making my foot too loose in my shoe and it rubbed around. I might keep them for wearing after runs but my Balegas are going to be the socks going with me to Disney!

Someone told me years ago to gargle with Listerine morning and night. So that is what I have been doing!!

Though my redheaded son looked adorable in it when he was 1 and in his traditional Korean outfit for the birthday. :) (OK that sounds odd; he's a quarter Korean and is, indeed, a redhead)

Aren't genetics fascinating? I know that in order for a child to have red hair both parents have to carry the gene. Random fact about redheads. (And one that ruins my mom's claims it's from her side of the family...it is, but it's from both technically...) I just love that he's a quarter Korean and a redhead. That is awesome! Recessive genes for the win!

I am sick. Two weeks ago my 2 year old was diagnosed with RSV and pneumonia. After my runs Saturday and Sunday I had a tickle in my throat and thought it was the cold air. By Monday midday I had a horrible sore throat. I was in bed at 5:30 when my husband came home from work. Was feeling better yesterday, but couldn't sleep due to race weekend anxiety and now I feel horrible again today. I haven't run since Sunday. Ugh. 6 days to get healthy and try to squeeze in a run or two.

I wonder if that would help if you're already sick, but it sounds like something that would prevent sickness.

Off to the Dr. this morning after months of this cough, she is finally going to do something! I have been back and forth to see her and she said let it run its course. Saw her last week mention about my cough and she hear me coughing away in her office. I told her Florida is coming up soon , so she told me to come back. She has given me on puffer to help with my training. So we will see what this appointment brings!

I definitely did not budget enough for merch! Now to try to narrow down the list....
What is this budget thing that everyone keeps talking about? My husband throws that word around a lot too but it seems like it is from a language I don't speak.

My gym always seems ridiculously hot where the treadmills are. Would it kill them to turn up the air a bit? They could just crack a window - it's 20 degrees outside - that will cool it down!
Right??? I think they are compensating for the cold outside and think we all want to be 80 degrees when we are sweating. But then in the classrooms where we want it a little warm, it is about 30 degrees. Try doing yoga then!

I caught RSV from my son years ago and it was miserable. Probably the sickest I have ever been. I walked into urgent care and the doctor was the same who had diagnosed my son. He took one look at me and said "guess what you have." I ended up with a sinus infection from it and was in bed for five days while my husband took care of the baby and made runs to the drugstore for more Nyquil and Advil.

Just to clarify - my "like" was for your budget comment, not the RSV part! Luckily my DH isn't coming on this trip and has no say in how I "budget" my money! So who cares if I eat Pop Tarts and Oreo's (that DD and I are bringing with us) for all our meals, I will have all the stuff!! :)

I worked at a year-round Christmas store in high school and college. I had glitter coming out of my scalp for years- no more glitter.
Frankly, I just don't think it what they do looks that pretty-and I certainly wouldn't want all that on while I"m running. But then, I also thought my friend's daughter looked way cuter before she went into the "Bibbity Bobbity Boutique" for her princess make over than she did coming out of it. The child was thrilled, so that's what matters.

I won't be partaking in the glitter thing. Can't speak for my cousin though.

We homeschool but everyone is sick at the YMCA where we spend a ton of time. And we were just at a big dance convention with lots of coughing. Including my kid.

I'm pulling out all the preventative stops here. It if I get sick, well, it seems to be tradition with me. My throat is tight. I know I'm fighting it. Keep fighting, body, don't give in!

That's why I like compression sleeves instead. Socks of my choice and then the zensahs and the world is fine. Of course I Glide my feet even with my socks of choice. Just to be sure.

It was fun that no one told us there was red hair in the family until after my Ronald McDonald (it is more copper now but it was very bright when he was brand new) kid showed up. What a surprise!

His first cousins with the same basic background look more Korean than their mom so we had some expectations. :)

Turns out my grandfather, from whom I got my curls, had auburn hair. He passed away a few months before I was born and was already white haired in pictures so I didn't know. And DH's Caucasian father had black hair when young but his older sisters apparently had bright orange hair in their youth. No color pictures of their hair when their hair had color. :)

Thanks for sharing this with us, family!

People always want to pull out the "red hair gene is dying off" conversation card. I think people aren't showing an understanding of recessive genetics lol.

My friend lives in Dayton and she just reminded me of something... Princess weekend is also race weekend. Those of us driving will likely hit traffic and lots of it.

"Also be prepared to maybe hit race traffic here. The 500 is Sunday the 21st and we've got the Duels on Thursday the 18th and all those lovely races in between. The cops will be heavy in this area."

:rotfl2: So me!

Oh goodness, I really hope I don't have RSV, although there's really nothing they could do for me if I did since it's viral. I'm hoping to feel better tomorrow, but if not I might try to get a last minute doctors appointment and get checked out. That would give me a week until race days start at least.

I hope you feel better soon!

Thank you!

I think we will continue to surprise people! ;) Neither of my parents have red hair. My dad has fair skin, but brown hair. My mom has olive skin and VERY dark brown hair. My grandma said she wanted a redheaded granddaughter for her birthday. My mom thought she was a crazy lady and there was no way. Well, sure enough grandma got her wish! I have a cousin on my dad's side whose hair is literally identical to mine! Red and curly! My mom's dad supposedly had red hair, as did her sister, but they both passed away before I was born so like you, no color pictres to show for it. I have two boys that are mine biologically and both have brown hair. But I feel like we redheads are in a special club of awesomeness! I just read an article about how grerat redheads are...it was quite the boost! :rotfl:

I am a redhead who has a blonde daughter and a brunette daughter.

My brother (blonde) and SIL (brunette) have a redheaded son! I love genetics!

I hit my "race weight" goal today! Down 10 lbs since January 1st! And, the race weekend weather forecast still looks promising!

I am a red head and I remind my sister all the time that it is a recessive gene and her kids could be redheads. I get it from my dads side and if yo are at a family reunion you can tell that the red head gene is on that side. It has seemed to skip him and all of his cousins but myself and about 5 or 6 of his cousins kids have red hair.
