Find Your Own "Directive" - the February Weight Loss / Life Style Change Challenge

Trying to breath. Too much going on this week that I got to get taken care of. I checked one new urgent thing off the list tonight. Well sorta I'll have another portion of that task to do later but cannot doing that part until its received. Now tomorrow I'll have to leave a sticky note for myself to remember to call on my other two or three pressing issues.

I have failed to get in my strength plan yesterday. So I'll aim to do that tonight and then see if I can fit in a interval session on bike as well before bed so I'll go a bit lighter on the leg portion and concentrate on upper body. I know the endorphins will pull me out of the mood all this business has put me in. Well unless my daughter wants to go walk around block but its getting late. Started dinner late because I took care of the one task. I wanted to work on my tax filing tonight but not sure I wanna start this late. Its not too detailed for me. Probably pretty quick I did an estimate and hope its accurate as I want to look for a used Ford(my brother is a Ford tech and can fix problems easier) to replace my Dodge Neon that has so many minor problems just waiting on more major ones to pop up so kinda looking to get something else. I haven't had a refund in years because I was unemployed so long. It will be nice even if it will go fast. I plan to also splurge on some new interview tops despite the fact I hate buying more clothes at my size when I want to lower that down. I really really want to get into something full time. Where does all my time go?? hehe I have some but feel like I dont. Currently only working 4.25 hours a day. I just spend an additional hour commuting that I'm not used to.

If I can wing it maybe I'll read threw and catch up. Seems a few pages of chatting has happened, or something.

Working out: Looking Good = Feeling Good.
Today's discussion is about working out and feeling good both inside and out. One way to feel good on the outside is to wear clothing that brings you confidence. With that confidence brings inner confidence - because if you feel good on your outside, then you'll feel good on the inside. Maybe it's a shirt that has a great saying or a pair of workout pants that make your butt look good. Think about that one piece of attire that gives you extra motivation.

Workout fashion, not so sure I have any!! When I walk outside I'm usually in a pair of sweatpants and a t-shirt and I wear Ryka walking tennis shoes. If I'm at home using my stationary bike or elliptical I'm wearing yoga pants (something I would never do outside where anyone could see me in them!!) and a t-shirt and to be totally honest, I'm usually wearing my slippers while I'm pedaling away! :)

I'm with you I don't think I have workout fashion either - its warm here so I wear shorts and whatever shirt that will cover my belly/butt the best - I do like to wear an Ellen shirt I got at Warner Bros on our holiday. Unfortunately the DL shirt I got is a bit too snug for my liking. I wear Nike shoes cute bright orange ones.

:banana:YES!

That's amazing. Let me know if I can help with any trip planning. The Halloween Stuff goes live after the 12th or the 13th, so you may want to skip the Labor Day weekend and hit it up a little bit later. SUPER EXCITED FOR YOU!

Thanks! Unfortunately we have NO CHOICE on the dates. DD's conference is in San Diego on Sept 10/11, so we will drive up that Sunday night (9/11) and do DL/DCA on 9/12-13 and try to take the last flight out of LAX on 9/13, in order for her to miss as LITTLE school as possible. She can probably get an excused absence for the Friday/Monday because the conference is school-related, but the Tuesday will be extra.

I do have a wahoo for the day. I just came from a costume session. My coworker came from chemo treatment so she was hungry. She brought dinner for herself and a big container of oatmeal raisin cookies. I made the 2 hours without eating one.

Congratulations Pamela on the big check.

I am listening to the discussion on DL. We are planning a trip in 2018 and haven't decided when we are going.

Congrats on sitting with cookies nearby for TWO HOURS and resisting the whole time! I can totally relate..... the fundraiser on Tuesday was essentially a bake sale..... I had cinnamon rolls, chocolate-filled croissants, homemade cookies, chocolate cupcakes ALL in front of me for 9 hours! It's hard, but it can be done, right??!!:thumbsup2

I'm guilty of working out in the worst, ugliest, saggiest gear. You know, those yoga pants with the bleach stains and the holey knees? Yup, that's me. That being said, when I used to go to the gym and be seen in PUBLIC, I made an effort to wear a decent outfit.... not fancy, not "Kate Hudson Fabletics" fancy.... just presentable. I've gotten a few bits of workout clothing for gifts and it is NICE to have a PRETTY set to wear! Again, nothing fancy.... usually a Champion or Reebok brand of yoga pants with a coordinating t-shirt. What I need most is GOOD SNEAKERS and a supportive SPORTS BRA! True confession though..... my BEST set of workout gear is saved for when I have to be the P.E. teacher at school. I like to have ONE unstained, unratty set handy for those day!

*******************************

Morning friends! Off to work in just 5 minutes or so. Not sure WHERE they are putting me today.... fingers crossed it's something great! P.E. was quite bearable yesterday and I did some hula-hooping and some jump-roping (until my bladder decided that was enough!) and shot some hoops!

Time to dash!..............P

Right now I am usually wearing one of my many lose black yoga/walking pants and a big old t-shirt. I do have some cute workout clothes I don't fit in right now. Not matchy matchy cute but more sporty. I like the workout pants from costco. Cheap, nice and lasts. I do have some lululemon stuff but waiting until I fit into it. I actually was on the fabletics site but it doesn't explain how it works. Do you have to pay monthly or buy so many outfits per year? The stuff looks nice but you can't just go on and buy one outfit. Maybe somebody on here can explain it to me. :)

I have running capris that are super comfortable, and slightly compressive, so that they hold me in really well and I don't feel like I'm jiggly all over while I am running. Bonus is they have pockets on the sides of the legs, so I can put my phone in them and not have to hold it while I run. I can't wear an arm band, bothers me too much. On long runs I can stick my shot blocks in the pocket of my other leg. Makes me feel ready to go yet light and carefree. The pants are the Be Free Knicker (or tights) by Athleta. I got green ones for my hulk inspired look for the Avengers half in November and I swear they lift my butt up too:) I love the ts from RawThreads as well. They are super lightweight and comfy I wore the run angry version for the Avengers half. They are kind of pricey for a T I purchase mainly to sweat in so I don't have a bunch, but I do like them a lot. RawThreads does special sales from time to time, and next time they do, I am going to grab a couple.

Here are links to both. The green pants are old, so only a few sizes, but they have tons of other versions new spring colors just were released.

I can't wear full costumes, I need to be comfortable when I run, so I wear running clothes in colors or designs that feature a character, and I accessorize. I'm making a Daisy visor for that outfit for my half next Sunday.

The other thing I do to feel confident and strong is I wear my race shirts, a LOT! Since I always do the challenges at Disney I get three tech shirts for each challenge (so 9 so far) and I have 2 cotton ts from 5ks. I am eternally cold, so I always wear a T shirt over my tanks to the gym, and I usually wear a race one, because it reminds me of what I accomplished. I can think back to when I first started to go to the gym and I was so sell conscious of what I looked like, and know, I am pretty proud of the current state of my body. If only I could make peace with the number on the scale.

I'm obsessed with workout clothes and if I had all the money I'd buy all the clothes! I'm typically in a tank and running tights. I have a pair that I got for Christmas that are black until the bottom and have pink and gray at the bottom. They're so cute and soooo comfy! The tank that I typically wear is one that I purchased back when I first started working out. It's fun to see and feel the difference of myself in that tank top over time. I have during pics and I can see a huge difference! For shoes I rock my hot pink Brooks Glycerins. I loooove these shoes. Probably the best tennis shoes I've ever owned. So basically, I'll work out in anything pink.

I have a few tanks that I bought way back in the day that are way too tight to workout in right now. But I was hoping that someday I'd be back to comfortably wearing them.

As for where I get my clothes, I like Target's Champion brand. I've also recently noticed that JC Penny has super cute workout clothes! So does Sam's club. I'm DYING for some sparkle skirts though.

Oh man.... I am usually in the house where no one can see me so it's usually my rattiest yoga (or sometimes my ancient palazzo) pants and a super supportive sports bra. I did buy two Disney tanks for back when I was pretending like I was going to train for the DPHM. And while I am no longer have that as my goal, it is super fun to wear those tanks when I do go for walks or bike rides outside!

No fancy workout clothes here. I just can't get into the "tights" phenomenon. Which is pretty much all the bottoms out there. Even yoga pants make me self conscious. So I've got a couple of very old straight leg pants (not quite sweatpants, more like warm up pants) that I wear. Tops are either regular t-shirts or I have a few new ones made of that athletic fabric (I don't know what it is - it's not tight, just slippery is the way I'd describe it). Those actually do make me feel more confident; more put together anyway.

Shoes are some new balance that I got on clearance at DSW! They are pretty ugly but they were originally expensive shoes that I got for a very nice price!

I looked into fabletics, but that's when I realized that pretty much all workout bottoms are tights and it wouldn't be worth it for me to subscribe. It seems like an OK deal for the diligent customer. When you get that super cheap outfit initially, you agree that you will either (1) order an outfit each month (being charged for the cost of the outfit), (2) actively declining to buy an outfit that month, or (3) your card is charged $49 (I think) if you don't decline or order something. It's not like the $49 goes in their pocket, the next month you can use it as a credit on another outfit. But I could see it getting out of hand if you don't put a reminder in your calendar to "decline" that month's purchase.

Nike makes some pretty amazing workout capris that are full length pants on me. Nordstrom Rack usually has them on sale for about $30-40 per pair and they're super comfy. I also recently discovered Nordstrom's Zella brand of shorts/pants - also amazing and about $35 per pair.

I adore the running shirts from RawThreads - you usually see them at the runDisney expos. They're super comfortable and allow you to show your Disneyside without being too obvious about it.

I'm on the fence right now about running costumes - great idea in concept but so expensive. Maybe I can find the happy medium and wear a themed shirt for the event.

Anyone have any advice about running costumes - pros/cons?

I did something to my achilles yesterday and couldn't do any walking/running. It's been doing a little better today and I'm going to try and do my ladder workout after school, but my fitbit numbers are now shot! Oh well.

I'm sure everyone is dying to know about male workout fashion ;) - I get a lot of free Under Armour gear from coaching (our team wears Under Armour uniforms and they give us free coaching gear) so I usually wear a lot of that to workout. I do like their shoes, for my feet they are more comfortable than Nike, but they don't last as long.

This is off topic of workout gear, but I just have to say how excited I am for MFP! I just downloaded the app today to give it another chance (I tried it like two years ago and didn't like it so much).

Anyway, I just found out I can put in the URL for my Blue Apron recipes and it imports it and tracks it!!! This is awesome! I am now officially converted to MFP. My UP comes tomorrow, I've linked the accounts, and I am ready to go!!!! If anyone wants to add me I'm pmryan55

Ok that's all-- back to outfits! :-)

I was just looking at the RawThreads site and this made me actually laugh out loud.

I like it when people make stuff that is like a *hint hint* at disney but not full on in your face. Makes it easier to incorporate into your wardrobe :)

QOTD - I don't have too many exciting workout threads. I usually throw on a pair of yoga pants and old raggedy t-shirt. My pride and joy however are my Fitbit and bright pink Nikes. Looking to get some inexpensive workout gear. I've had some good luck in the past with Walmart and Target. Love the capri style yoga pants!

No fancy workout duds here. I kick it in yoga pants and capris from Walmart and JCP, haha, and whatever tshirt I can find at the moment. I love my Nikes that I got just before our last Disney trip, though. They're grey with mint trim and white soles and I loooooooveeeee themmmmmmmmmm. They are SO COMFYYYYYY. I need to spend more time in them for sure.

QOTD I have no formal workout stuff. I usually just work out in sweats and t-shirts. Most of my workout is in the house. I walk outside but that is just usually in regular shorts or capris.
