Disney's POLYNESIAN VILLAGE RESORT Information & Questions

We used the Disney cribs (not pack and plays) for my large 3 year old this summer. She had just started using a bed, but she could not get out of the crib (or at least, she didn't). I do think you could fit two cribs, one by the window, and one in front of the dresser, sort of between the two beds. I am thinking Disney cribs, though, which are more of a travel size. The Murphy bed is shorter than a regular bed, and I believe you can request rails for the beds, if that helps.
Hold the phone - you can get a crib and not just a pack'n'play?!? How?!? Our dd will be three when we're there in April and probably still be in a crib. (She LOVES her crib). Last time we used a pack'n'play but I'm afraid it will be too small and she'll be able to 'tip' it.

and I was thinking... You can get a pack and play? I don't know, I just request a crib. We have had them at the Poly, and the other 3 resorts we have stayed at. They roll in already put together, but are the kind that fold up, sideways. They don't bring a blanket, but have a small crib sheet. I just wish my 3.5 year old was still in a crib. Sigh. Big sibs don't realize the days of them having their own bed are over! They will be drawing straws this trip for who shares!

Any room request advice? We have a standard room booked, and like 1st floor, and close to GCH. If I had to pick a side of the resort, I would say towards TTC. We have always stayed in and loved Rarotonga, even the monorail side. Problem is, I don't really want to look at the scrim. Anyway to request monorail side or "non-construction" view? And suggestions for a building that would not have this issue?

I know it's further away from the TTC but we are in Figi now and it's perfect. No construction, less than 5 minute walk to boat dock and the GCH. If you really want to be away from construction Figi is perfect. We got the exact room I requested through touring plans.

I just request a crib. We have had them at the Poly, and the other 3 resorts we have stayed at.
What were the three other resorts? With our daughter we've only stayed at CBR. I requested a 'crib' and got a pack'n'play. I thought I had read in a guide book that only DVC had actual cribs. This is our first trip to the Poly (excitement is hardly contained!!!) Hmmm, maybe we could get a crib!!! We were thinking the pull down with a bed rail might work, but she has never been in a 'real' bed before. Last time she was too young to 'get it,' this time she may insist on a bed if big brother has one! Nothing is more important than sleep in our world. :)

Wilderness Lodge, Yacht Club, and Contemporary. Sleep is precious!

It's my stress reliever too, I love having a Disney trip to look forward to. And I love be able to talk about it with everyone here. maybe we'll run into each other at the pool :)

I sure hope we do! In fact, I'd bet we will. My daughter has already stated that she wants to spend less time in the parks and more at the pool. The best thing I did on the fly last August was cancel our morning at AK so we could spend the morning relaxing at the pool (last minute change in plans left us with no rest day...but we realized quickly it was a rest day or a meltdown day).

My husband and I had another conversation last night about planning and what I'm changing up for this trip. I am going to drive myself nuts and it is still so far away!! Thank goodness I can post here.

We are doing a split stay at POR then a few days at the Poly. It will be our Disneymoon and my wife and myself are looking forward to enjoying more time at the resorts. We have been to disney alot but this will be of first time staying at the Poly. Any tips on the best way to fully enjoy the Polynesian?

The Poly is beautiful and relaxing, you're going to love it :goodvibes. One of the (many) things I love to do at the Poly is walk around the resort at night under the lit tiki torches taking in the beautiful nighttime atmosphere. It's also nice sitting on the beach watching the fireworks :wizard:.

We will be at the Poly in August too, the 13th-20th.

We are booked for the 12th-20th.

We are booked for the 12th-19th :).

At the Animal Kingdom waiting for our room text for the Poly! Can't wait t

Hope you have a great time! :wizard:

We spend more time at the resort than we do the parks and while we have loved every resort/pool we've tried, the Poly is our favorite for pool time :beach:.

Walk around the paths, the grounds are beautiful. Explore GCH, all the shops. Make an ADR for Kona Cafe or 'Ohana. Order a LapuLapu at the bar outside 'Ohana! Have a Dole Whip at Pinapple Lanai. Go to Trader Sam's. In the evening watch The Electric Water Parade and Wishes on the Beach. But prob my fav place to watch Wishes from is floating in the pool in warm weather. Use monorail to resort hop to GF & CR to check out their shops, dining.
Watch the Torch Lighting Ceremony!!

Sounds like the Poly will be full of us come August! party:
I considered trying YC/BC this time around for the pool, but there's time for that when the kids get older. Besides, I think my kids would miss the Poly. My four year old asked earlier this afternoon if we could go to the "pollination" after nap, lol. He's got a long wait!

Funny how the best days of a trip can be the ones when you change everything you had planned for months. Lol We did that many times on our last two trips. Our first trip, 10 days at GF, 10 days at the parks, no rest days, and boy! we felt it! Fast-forward one year later, we stayed an extra day at the Poly as a rest day in the middle of our 10 park days. Better, but still feel more down time is needed for Disney trips. Next August, we'll be staying at the Poly for 15, having one down day for every two park days. We really love the poly and having those days devoted just for relaxing and enjoying the atmosphere will be exactly what the doctor's ordered!

We just booked our next trip. This will be our first adults only trip for DH and myself. We are staying in a deluxe studio lake view from Sept 17-24, 2016. DH really wants to do way less parks this time and just hang out at the resort and do non-park things. While part of me finds that very hard, I am also very excited to do a different type of Disney vacation. This will be our first time at Poly and I am so excited. It has been like a dream resort for me and its hard to believe I finally am going to stay there!

We just booked a visit to the POLY in April! We'll be staying Club Level for the first time!! This trip is to celebrate my Birthday and I couldn't be more excited! We'll be there April 12-19th:yay: Now, if I only could stop myself from over analyzing everything and reading all the reviews (some that are not so good :() Part of me thinks it is a crazy amount of money to pay to go back to a place we've been to numerous times (WDW) but my dh so nicely reminds me that it is a vacation destination that we all love so it is worth it!

I hope to hear some recent reports and updates of the construction. I'm really hoping they'll have things wrapped up before we head down in April. Thanks to everyone contributing on this thread!

We will be spending a lot time of the pool too, we were there last August and ended up either doing a park early or late and the rest of the day was spent swimming. I didn't do a lot of planning last time and it worked out, but since we're staying on property this time I'm sure I will .

A big party indeed :jumping1:.

That is too cute about your 4 yo :goodvibes. August seems far away, but it will be here before we know it ::yes::.

I think you have a great plan for getting in some resort time :thumbsup2. Our first couple of trips were spent in the parks with no resort time, then little by little we started decreasing our park time and increasing our resort time. Now we spend most of our time at the resort with little time in parks. We still love going to the parks, but we find our trips much more relaxing with less park time ;).

I think Poly CL is a great way to celebrate your birthday! I wouldn't worry about the reviews as all resorts get both good and bad. I think you'll have a great time, enjoy the planning :).

Officially booked for July!:cloud9:

:cool1::cool1:

pixiedust:We will be at The Poly on NYE 2015. We have a reservation at Ohana @ 6:30. We have no plans to go to a park that day , but are planning to watch the fireworks from the beach or our room patio. Anyone done this before? I was wondering what time we will need to get the beach for a spot and if they usu have anything special going on?? TIA!
