Gift Ideas for 'Adult Kids' - the Twenty-Something Year Olds

My kids are in their mid 20s. I ask them to make a wish list on Amazon. Then I just order off that. You could ask them and see what they put on it. My daughter and son-in-law couldn't really think of too much they wanted, so we gave them money towards new dining room furniture.

Well, I'm a post college 20 something girl and when my mom asked my list was a fluffy long bathrobe, funny animal slippers, a fitness bracelet thing, some cute hallmark plaques, or a pandora bead. My brother (25) was asking for stuff for his apartment. I got him a darth vader shower head. I think fun apartment stuff would be good (think bed bath and beyond), cool blankets from pop culture stuff (hot topic has these), or a game like cards against humanity if he doesn't have it. Do they like video games? Those are always good too. As seen on TV stuff also tends to be a hit with guys my age, or anything weird that is beer related.

Also we like things we can't afford/won't buy. Nice candy/snacky stuff/cheeses/sausages are always good and appreciated!

We went to the stores tonight to check out the sales. One of the boys bought a Yeti cooler for $350 that he was wanting. I bought him a few things online so I think it's the son that is into skateboarding that is more difficult now. I might just tell him to pick out a new skateboard because actually his broke and he has just been using friends. He would have to pick that out himself.

I usually make an Amazon list - but we recently got my sister and brother-in-law a 3-month Spotify subscription gift card. I'm not sure if your son is into music that they have on Spotify, but it's a really neat service. The paid version lets you sync music to your phone's memory, so we use it to download playlists for in the car listening without eating up our data plan in like a day :P It also lets you listen to music ad-free. We're all mid-20s to early 30s, and it seemed to go over well. Plus, if they already have a subscription, it's always nice to not have to pay for it for a little while :)

Money toward something you know they want is always appreciated too - we sometimes get Disney gift cards because everyone knows we love to go there, but my mom has definitely had my brother choose something he wants and she's either gotten it or given him some money to offset the cost.

Not sure on how much you want to spend, but would the skateboarding son want a GoPro? DH loves his. He no longer skates but if he still did he would like it. He could wear it on his chest (or strap to helmet if he wears one). I think he could even get a mount for it right onto his skateboard then he could watch the videos. I am not sure if he'd take to a concert or not but it is smaller so if that interested him it wouldn't be a burden to lug around.

I asked my Mom for anti-fatigue mats for the kitchen this year.
Sometimes adult kids just need practical things; especially if they make a reasonable amount of money to buy their own fun things.

Seems like you have some great ideas already. One thing I recently read was that young adults would now rather have "experiences" instead of stuff. Even in our lives, we are trying to consume less, and experience more. So I think your deep sea fishing trip or other similar plans is right on track. :)

My son is 28 and makes beer at home. So his list was made up of brewing stuff. Things like a Copper coil immersion chiller, I had no idea what this stuff was. He gave us a wish list on Amazon, and we went to the local brew shop. They were VERY happy that we decided to buy local and while they were a few dollars more expensive, they threw in some hops and yeast for free. They now have a loyal customer in my son because their service is awesome.

IMO, if you are asking strangers on the internet what to buy your kid, maybe it is time to rethink the whole gift giving idea. We stopped exchanging last year because no one could figure out what to get anyone. Grown kids with jobs buy what they want/need. So instead of stressing for a month on what to get, we have a relaxed holiday. Spend Christmas together, watching movies, etc.

Ammo/targets
Gas cards
Quality Tools
Food
iTunes cards
Concert/sports tickets

That age is difficult. My niece and nephews always just want cash or gift cards. What about a tablet? You didn't mention if he already has one. A Netflix or Hulu membership? I think these are expensive, but my nephews are nuts about the 2 wheel hoverboards. If you knew about Exploding Kittens then you probably already knew about Cards Against Humanity, that was the first thing I thought of. LOL.

How about some accessories for his new bike? If he doesn't already have them, things like a water bottle that clips in, a tire repair kit, lights and reflectors for the bike, clip-on lights for his clothes/shoes while he's riding, etc.

lol, I'm way outta my 20's but I gotta disagree with that. I love getting gifts. anyone who wants to give me one stranger or not is welcome too. My husband usually would not figure out what to get me after 30 years of marriage until I left a Christmas gift catalog for him.

No stress involved. I enjoy shopping, although I don't do the "black friday" craziness. I have two twenty something kids. some items I know what they will like and some times I go "rogue" and pick up some thing I like and hope they will too.
