Disney's YACHT & BEACH CLUB RESORTS Information & Questions

I don't know. I hope the resort added more in the rooms where they would fit, but I haven't heard one way or the other.

I don't remember reading that daybeds were removed from any CL or standard rooms, but I could have missed that. There were a couple of rooms in CL that were used to expand the lounge and at least one of those had a daybed so there is one less.

Are families of 5 still only able to book standard view club level rooms? If not, then I would guess that more have been added.

:confused3

I may have been late night reading another thread, maybe the GF. I am sure someone will confirm :)

Coming down from my YC high of last week, had a great stay as always so here is a mini-trip report.

Arrived 9/28 at ASSp for one night since I drove down and it didn't make sense to spend $ for that short of time at YC. Checked out at 7 am on 9/29 and over to YC and at checkin desk by about 7:30 am. They knew my room number but it wasn't ready yet, CM didn't give me the number but did show me the location on the map. I originally booked a standard view, somewhere in the 2 months after I booked it got upgraded to a garden view, at check in it got upgraded to a water view. It was room 2061, and my balcony had a beautiful view of the BW, king bed with the little mini-kitchenette area with a sink. I have pictures on my phone but have no idea how to get them posted so if our dear mod will give me an email address I can email them.

After check in, I went to the bus stop and headed over to MK for the day, waited maybe 6 min. for the bus and it wasn't crowded at pickup but I noticed throughout the trip by the time the buses reached BC most of those people had to stand. Around 3 I received a text to check with the front desk about my room, oh no. I monorailed it over to Epcot, got my AP voucher for the wine glass stamped, ate at a few booths, had a wine seminar and went back to the front desk. For some reason my MB wasn't connected to my room, I had no problems with it at ASSp and made it a point of going to the front desk to check out when I left but oh well. They fiddled with it for a few minutes and asked if they could walk me to my room and bring it up to me. No problem so I got an escort to my room and I hadn't even had a chance to take a few pictures before my MB was delivered. That was my one and only glitch the entire time I was there.

Spent my mornings at various parks and over to Epcot around noon every day where I spent every afternoon/evening grazing at F&W booths. While I did notice it was a little crowded I didn't think it was as bad as some people thought, I don't think I waited longer than 5 min. in any line. I had at least two seminars every day so it could have been a timing thing for me. Friday night on Oct. 2, which was my last night it was pretty packed and I left around 7:30 but had a full day and was tired and full anyway. I did manage to hit every booth for at least one item, not always food. Had express check out on Saturday, Oct. 3 which was no problem. I took my bag down to my car and hit HS and Epcot again before I left around 1 pm for home.

My room was fine, a little dated but no issues with anything at all. Everything worked, mouse keeping was fine, I actually put my DND sign on my door one day since I was solo and didn't really need anything done. I walked back and forth to Epcot, my room was right above the "secret" door at YC that is on the garden side where the wedding gazebo is. It didn't take me long to figure out where the door was from the gift shop to the garden area and then a quick walk to the outside door and one flight up to my room (via stairs). There was an elevator just a few doors down that let out at the laundry room (which I do not use). There are no vending machines on that floor so I did pop down to the laundry room for what I hoped was a bottle of water my first night but everything was sold out in the machine but regular coke, which I haven't had in about 20 years since I drink diet. I got it but seriously that one bottle ended up getting poured out when I left, I had maybe 3 sips out of it. I did hear a little hall noise but otherwise had no problems with noise.

Great trip as usual and can't wait until I'm back at the world either at Christmas or F&G.

Now I'm sure this has been asked a billion and 1 times but I am having trouble finding it through the 282 pages of posts haha :badpc:

I put in a room request for a large balcony on our reservation & also through the online check in. I know they are only requests and nothings guaranteed but what do guys think is the chance of me having my request fulfilled? If you have any past experiences I would love to hear them :) thank you!

Since about 50% of the rooms have the large balcony, I would guess you have about a 50% chance of getting one.

We have been back for a few weeks now -- the trip went so fast and things were hectic when we got back settling into the school year and catching up on what we missed. However I've been meaning to come back and chime in about what a wonderful trip we had and how much we LOVED the beach club. What an amazing place. Three specific comments about the BC part of our trip:

1) We wanted a large balcony room. This was super important to us because the kids go to bed and we wanted somewhere to sit and be awake after that, also have friends that stopped to visit after hours. We checked in Saturday and our room was available but it was a small balcony. I asked to switch if possible and they called in but unfortunately nothing was available that day; however, if we moved the next day we could get a large balcony. At first DH was not up for relocation but then he saw the juliet balcony and said call back and we'll move. LOL. Wish I had a pic of DH 6'3" squeezed onto the balcony that first night sitting with a beer - he loves being outside that much. The room was really nice and overlooked the quiet pool, we could run right down and out that door. The only problem with moving was that we had an ADR at 8:10 at Be Our Guest at MK! So we just minimally unpacked that night and loaded it all up on a cart the next morning, they held our bags during the day and we moved to room #2, aka #4530, the next night. 1000% times worth the hassle of moving. Our balcony was not large, it was the largest they had! With a view of Epcot over the trees -- could watch the top of illuminations at night, and see the tops of the countries as well as Spaceship earth. Our balcony was 3x's a regular large balcony! Enormous!

2) Our second night there, we moved rooms when we got back from MK and it was super late, we'd been through fireworks, and they wouldn't move our luggage for a room transfer until we were back. So we had to get back, check in to ask for our bags, and then it was about 20 minutes for our bags. At this point kids were exhausted, so were we as still a bit tired from arrival day wake-up of 4am the day before. Our bags come, but not the refrigerator items, so we have to call back for those. Ok, no biggie, I'm still doing fine, happy to finally unpack and everything, and call down for a wine bottle opener. They said they could bring me one! Yay, they said about 20 minutes, which is fine because I'm picking up/unpacking and everything and the wine had to chill; but let me emphasize here that the wine is extremely critical to my sanity/evening after spending a full day at a pretty crowded MK, staying through fireworks, bus, moving rooms, etc!! After about 40 minutes I called down again b/c no one had come by, and they said it was coming. I went to get ice to chill the wine and come back and DH said did you ask for a blanket or a wine opener, because they came but brought a blanket. UM. NO. I'm a little anxious now because I'm ready to settle down and am REALLY WANTING THAT WINE. Sorry if I sound like an alcoholic here (LOL! ) but it had been a long couple of days here and I wanted to relax some on the balcony!! Someone comes back about 5 minutes later....with a bottle opener. I look at them and say I need a corkscrew! And she says, in a very assured voice, "This will open it! It opens all things!" I think I had been really drained by the first two days with two young kids in the parks because I agreed that made sense (IT DID NOT) and shut the door and my husband is like and what do you plan to open with that? At this point I was feeling pretty frustrated, now, because they had told me an hour before no problem corkscrew coming and now I have a blanket and a bottle opener, and cold, unopened wine. I start off down the hall to go get it myself and housekeeping sees me in the hallways and I basically say "this doesn't open wine, its not a corkscrew" and the woman we'd been dealing with was with another woman who actually understood me and translated the request and they told me to go back to my room and they ran off again. I felt like I'd won a huge victory when 5 minutes later they were at my door with a corkscrew and shortly after I was on the enormous balcony, overlooking Epcot with the countries still lit up, relaxing with a cold glass of sauvignon blanc :)

After the excitement of the first evening we didn't really need anymore help, so no other issues. I'm sure this will be a good joke with my husband and I for a while.

3) My 3 yo son went from a timid but trying it out swimmer to a little fish on the plane ride to Florida. As soon as he saw storm a long bay he was putting HIS FACE IN THE WATER (what?! he has done swim lessons for months and would NEVER EVER do that), jumping from pool to pool, kicking and swimming and just going everywhere. He was a little nervous of the slide until I basically strong armed him into it the last day and then he had to do it non-stop. Our favorite moments all week were from the pool I think. Puddle jumpers were a must, so glad to have them. He actually was jumping in without them on which is beyond crazy for my cautious little kiddo. Amazing!! Truly!!

That's all for now....enjoy your planning/dreaming/memories fellow BC friends!!

Thank you for your review. Glad you enjoyed your BC stay! LOL about the corkscrew. I totally get it. Just called for a corkscrew in August and housekeeping was much more efficient for me. Thank goodness.

I always bring a corkscrew in my checked luggage (along with a couple of bottles of wine!)...probably wouldn't make it through security with my carryon...but once my luggage got delayed, so I went down to the resort store and bought a bottle, and the cashier gave me a little corkscrew to open it with...

How many elevators are in the Beach Club? I did look on the map and it looks like 2 ? If we will stay there it will be a standard view room and was wanting near an elevator. Or are there any stairs any where? We could deal with using stairs also.

We made it! Just a quick update for those who were asking about the touring plans room requests: I submitted my request through touring plans about 10 days ago, and I got the exact room I requested (it was actually one of 3). I couldn't make the request directly to Disney because I booked through Expedia, so either this is a major coincidence or there is actually some validity to the touring plans request system.

Teena, I'm so sorry that I will miss you!

This is fantastic news! We arrive in 3 days.. I hope we have the same luck with our request through touring plans!

lol. I travel NOWHERE without a bottle opener and a cork screw

Its a lesson for next time...however, we do have two free souveniers :) we stuck mickey stickers on them!

There is the main set of them by the lobby which has 3 elevators plus a false one, plus another one closer to the secret entrance

How does Star Wars Weekend effect the BC ? Is it more crowded then usual at the resort ?
