MNSSHP 2015 - Be Prepared For Chaos

The night we went the crowds were bad on main street and around the castle. Hence we stayed to the other areas. Not sure why many of the rides were shut down. At the xmas party we attended all the rides were running.

I didn't notice any rides not running however I wasn't fully paying attention. I don't think barnstormer was running now that I think about it. Goofy was doing his M&G by there (near the stroller parking) so that could be a reason. I did see mine train running, speedway, people mover, (not sure about astro orbiter), etc like I said I wasn't really paying attention. No train for sure. We were hoping to ride it from fantasy land to Main Street. Although the day after I did see a lot of people with fast pass tickets for mine train but not sure when they got blocked from the ride. It could have just been down earlier in the day.

If I am understanding correctly, I think the FP+ area you were in is really intended for viewing the fireworks, not the parade. I think the parade viewing area is in the Town Square area, previously was the center of the Hub. I have read that it is not a great spot for the parade (tall guy or no tall guy!) because people are able to line the sidewalk between the area and the parade.

BTW, Pooh and Friends are on my list too this year. I have been to several MNSSHP and MVMCP and not managed to get a pic with them! They always seem to take a break or have been cut off for the night when I get over there.
You are correct; however we have used this area for both the electrical parade and the festival of fantasy parade and didn't have any issues (no one was on the fence during those times). we didn't have much time to make it to frontierland and I hate being the person with a bulky double stroller squeezing my way onto a Main Street curb even if there's room for us. So we felt standing on the sidelines took the stress out of it for us.

Jungle cruise, pirates of the Caribbean, train were down. Also the river boat was closed

We saw people being evacuated off of the Mine Train the first night. It seemed to be down quite often. The FP return line was huge.

I'm sorry to hear you had a bad experience last night. I am surprised that the 1st party wasn't sold out. Makes me nervous for our party - we are attending the last party on 11/1 - which I am fully expecting to sell out. I am attending myself with my 7-year-old niece and my 1-year old daughter. Don't care as much about getting on rides as I do for the experience of the dance parties/parade/trick or treating. Hoping I'll be able to easily navigate with a stroller!!
I am going 11/1. I just read it was sold out. Big sigh.

JC, railroad, and the riverboat are typically closed during MNSSHP. Pirates was down for refurb recently, it sounds like your party was before it reopened.

Went to the party last night 10/9.
As we arrived we were told the party was sold out.
We went first thing and got a spot for 7 dwarfs. I was third in line and held a spot while my DW&DD rode a few things. Cast members checked wristbands multiple times in the standby line and when the meet and greet started they even enforced no pics if you weren't in the standby area.
We hit pretty much every candy line, some twice, with minimal waits. Rode several rides that were walk on. Pirates and splash broke down during the party but came back up before midnight. We had a great spot for the second parade by Pecos Bill's. We didn't hit Main Street a whole lot simply because we weren't there for that we met who we wanted and enjoyed the park and costumes.
We had fun and yes wristbands were checked multiple times.

FINALLY! A good report :) Thanks!

We are also going 11/1 and I had a feeling it was going to sell out but our only other option was 10/29 and I was sure that was going to be more crowded! Still thinks so even tho it's not sold out yet quite sure it will be!

I bought the HalloWishes Premium Package so we would be sure to have a spot for the parade and fireworks. Now I am so glad I did.

Hi everyone - this thread has been so helpful to me in planning I wanted to join to add my review. Like the poster above we also went last night (10/9) but we thought it was terribly crowded. Maybe not 2pm in the summer crowded but much MUCH busier than previous years. Our last party was Christmas 3 years ago and this was nothing like that. Main St and the castle forecourt were no-go areas the whole night. We couldn't get close to watching the show there - any of them. We got to the park at 5:45 (had to drive there after school so that was the soonest we could make it) and we were able to use a fast-pass to get on Space Mountain which was standby of 40 mins. This dropped to 25 mins once the park closed at 7 but it never really got below that. It was 20 mins during the fireworks as an example. Buzz was 10 mins for most of the party and rides like Small World and Winnie were walk-ons but others had waits that I wasn't expecting - well before reading this thread anyway! Snow White was 40-50 mins all night. We went on it right after the last parade at 11:45pm - the wait time posted was 30 mins but it took only about 20mins to get on. Splash Mountain was down all night as far as I could tell but Thunder Mountain was only 10 mins most of the time. The longest wait we actually did was the Haunted Mansion that was 25 mins posted and took every minute of it.

My kids aren't so much into the characters but we did meet Lotso (no wait) and Buzz (5 mins). The other characters I couldn't tell you about. The second parade was packed but we did manage to score some decent spots about 15 mins before because a scooter person got moved on and we slipped in to their spot. Otherwise we would have been out of luck.

The trick-or-treating wasn't bad at all! I have attached a pic of my kid's haul in one hour so you have a frame of reference. I was unable to find Werther's or Peeps despite much effort. Somebody told me they ran out but I have no proof that that fact. There were a couple of places were there should have been stations that were deserted. We didn't start trick or treating till 10pm but the kids hit it pretty hard. The station by Tomorrowland raceway was empty and they were able to go through multiple times. The trail was also not busy - we hit that right before heading to the parade.

So all in all - this will be my last party. :( If you're like me (obsessive lol) and get to the park at rope drop and have all rides done by 11 then you're going to hate the crowds. It's a shame because the parties used to be amazing!

Just call me a ray of sunshine.
I am sure others won't feel the same way I did but me, my wife and our DD had a great time. LOVED the parade and we literally got a table full of candy. Between our park tickets in the morning and our Halloween passes in The evening we rode every ride at the park we wanted to ride many of them twice. But again we really didn't go to Main Street.

I wouldn't fret about it I honestly had more fun at the sold out party last year!

Funny you should say that. I was just telling another DIS person that with all of these awful crowd reports I have decided that will be taking it all in stride. This will be my first party so I have no other party to compare it with. My plan is to be in line by 5 for the SEVEN DWARFS and then from there.... just enjoy it. If there are 100 people in a candy line (that moves fast - as someone said) then I have no "20 person line" to compare it with. It will be all new to me and I intend to enjoy it darnit! lol. I don't care for crowds so it sounds just a tad daunting... but again... I'm going to roll with it and happy.

Thanks for sharing your sentiments.

It was so hot my night i spent most of it sitting at pecos bills, was still fun. Had a little kid coming up to me wanting to know if i was a real witch getting all exited that i wasnt and then wanting me to prove to her mom as well. Even if you get stuck doing nothing you want ya can make it fun somehow!

Don't stress. We hit our last party last night. It was sold out, but we never felt like it was horribly crowded and we had a great time. We had a wonderful dinner at BOG at 4:35, got out just before 6 and went to check the Dwarfs line and it was not horribly long. They came out at 6:45 and we were done right about when the party started. Walked right up to Terk, she left after us and wewere told to stay put a few minute and TArzan, Jane and Terk all came out together. Walked up to Jafar. We were over in Storybook Circus and Cruella and Jack and Sally's lines weren't any busier than on the non sold out nights we were there, I thought they looked shorter. Minnie, Daisy and Donald's line was insane again- longer than Jack and Sally or Cruella's line. Some trick or treat lines looked long , but we saw others with no wait. All a matter of location I think. We had no trouble getting a front row spot for the 2nd parade in the town square area about 5 minutes before the headless horseman came through. You can still have a great time!

So another instance of party merchandise being sold elsewhere, we saw the poison apple mug being sold at AK today.
