Chit Chat Thread - November ADRs...

With the new party BOG dinner reservations opening up, I'm wondering if a 7 pm dinner is a good idea or bad use of party time? Thoughts?

I think it depends on what you are planning to do at the party. My daughter is at an age where she can't sit still for more than 10 minutes. So lining up for the seven dwarfs (or any of the rarely seen characters) is out of the question. Her favourite Disney movie is Beauty and the Beast and this is the only time we can get a reservation to meet the beast. For me it is worth it to miss part of the party to see her happy.

For us, I think a BOG dinner during our mvmcp will work. It'll be a nice sit-down break and we won't have to hunt for a QS dinner then fight people for a table. At least with BOG, the dinner will be pre-ordered and we'll have a reserved table. So that shouldn't take longer than a QS (line up for the food, wait for your tray, go hunt for a table).

They do pre-order at BOG dinners right?

Nope they don't pre order dinners and be prepared to wait to be seated. It's a very busy popular restaurant so we waited over 20 minutes to be seated. Service was slow too and there is a line to meet the beast. Plan on close to 2 hours from reservation start. Personally I think your better off doing a QS meal on the earlier side but to each their own.

I picked up a BOG at 7pm on one of the party nights cause I heard from a CM that they just escort you out after your done. Since the park closes at 7pm for everyone not going to the party (including myself) I can still make this reservation right?

I think you are supposed to have a party ticket for BOG after 7 p.m. Not sure it will be enforced, but my confirmation has the following statement:
"Magic Kingdom® Park

Your reservation occurs during a special event, which requires a separate admission ticket for park entry. Please ensure all members of your dining party hold tickets for this event."

Well in that case, I think QS will be better for us. I don't want to waste up to 2 hours in a restaurant. Thanks for that info.

Just scored a BOG on Nov. 30th at 8pm... didn't see anything in the cancellation thread I have been stalking but bam! It appeared an I snagged it, patience pays!

We are spending the day a magic kingdom and then going over to Epcot for Akershus dinner one night. How much time should we allow to get to Akershus?

We ate at BOG during a party last year. We were in by 5, seated and finished by 5:45 including seeing the Beast, and out in time to have fun without worrying about huge lines, what my kid will be able to eat with food allergies and her general pickiness, and not having to worry about waiting to order food or finding seats in massive crowds at open quick service places. Most dining is closed during parties and what is open is a very limited menu. Be prepared to wait for a table and send a runner back to help the person who stands in line. The lines are very long during dinner hours and it can be packed and loud during the dance party.

Also while the hot chocolate is wonderful, the cookies are terrible haha

Depends on your walking speed. It takes about 20 minutes for us if our (now) 4 yo is in the stroller to walk there from the gate. The monorail can get hung up during a busy time but is a good 15-20 minute trip after you get on. The lines to get on can be HUGE though during dinner with a long wait. Especially if it is a MVMCP night and people not attending are leaving en masse. I'd leave an hour. You won't be able to check in early there but there's lots to see if you take a longer stroll.

Be sure after you are dining is that the monorail is still running or you'll need to take a cab back (or the bus). We got stuck during EMH one night when the monorail suddenly was done and we couldn't get back to the GF any other way but cab.

after reading these posts about BOG and am having second thoughts on cancelling my BOG lunch for the dinner time I just got. ugh! I can't decide!

Umm, now I want a BOG dinner for our MVMCP night. Ahhh, I can't decide. I think getting the QS dinner will be crazy. We've done it at DL during their Halloween party last week and the lines to get inside the QS was around 20 mins long, then another line inside for 15 mins, then wait for the food for another 10 minutes. We luckily got a table before we got in lines and just left our stuff there to reserve it. And it sounds like MVMCP at WDW gets even more crowded so I really think having an ADR is the way to go. Maybe...I guess I'll find out that night.

But I don't want to rush a BOG dinner so I will just go for an ADR at The Plaza and keep my other BOG dinner on our MK day when we won't be attending the MVMCP. Anyone have any suggestions for any ADRs for party nights so we don't have to fight for QS lines and tables?

How much was the cab fare to GF? And that was from Epcot? Did you have to wait long for a cab? Do cabs take credit cards now or should I have cash?

Just booked a bog on nov 17th at 6. Confirmation says that there won't be any characters - does this mean no beast?

Thanks

I saw this too. My guess would be that once the added hours for the evening start (anything 6 or later), Beast is off for the evening. I didn't mention the Beast being there, so I don't have to explain that one to the kids at least.

I originally booked BOG on Nov 14th @ 8:35PM (a regular park date - no MVMCP) and in the confirmation details it also says "characters are not available during this time of day". Maybe someone just copied and pasted the restrictions from the breakfast/lunch template.

For MNSSHP, BOG dinner times are listed from 4:00-6:55 for before the party starts; for MVMCP, dinner times are listed as being until 6:30. Did anyone get a reservation starting after 6:30 but before 7, or do you think they are trying to clear out non-party dinner crowds before the party hours start?
